Margaritas overly limey and tart. Food fair at best with relatively limited menu .
I’ve been eating at Diego’s for about 7 years now. They continue to make amazing margaritas, crack fries, and guac! They always have a great atmosphere and crowd. Just a little sad the chicken quesadilla is not made the same!
Was very disappointed in the lack of cleanliness . Bathroom was a disaster , informed waiter on the lack of soap in bathroom , an hour later still no soap .
Very limited menu for a Mexican restaurant , portions small .
Will not go back .
My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary because I have been to Diego's before and enjoyed it but he had never been. It was the night before Labor Day and we made a reservation and the restaurant was packed but we still received great service, the ambiance was great and the food came out quickly. Everything there is delicious and the fact that they brought out the food quickly amongst the chaos of the holiday was amazing!
Not the best service and the margaritas were very watered down given how expensive they are. Tacos were delicious!
Request a table outside, it is a great little patio are
We had requested an outdoor table for our anniversary celebration. When we got there I heard the hostess say to the manager that she mistakenly gave our table away to another couple. There were other outdoor tables available but they refused to give us one. Said they were reserved! Even upstairs had outdoor tables empty. They wound up putting us inside, upstairs, next to the bathroom. Awful location!!!! When we left, the upstairs outdoor tables were still empty. Great food. Extremely poor customer service. Would not go back because of that.
First time visitor for lunch. Menu was authentic Mexican cuisine and full of interesting choices. All of my party were very happy with their selections. Relaxed summer vibe made for a very enjoyable dining experience.
I came to Diego's bases on a review of the Vegan Nachos. Well, I had the Vegan Nachos and it was indeed a game changer. I also had the Vegan Korean BBQ Tacos and they were beyond delicious. My only negative comment would be about the Spanish rice; it was very bland. Other than that, the atmosphere was hip and the service was on point. I recommend you make reservations in advance because the place is constantly busy.
Love Diego’s! Amazing food! Great bar scene, and very busy! Everyone is so friendly
The food was just okay. The chips were a little stale and the fish tacos were okay.
Best nachos ever!! You can sit inside or out and it has a prime location on the wharf! I went with my mom and sister and we loved our quesadillas and fish tacos. Definitely would go back!
Took my family while on vacation in Newport. Great food. They tried hard, but the service was lacking. It’s location, downtown on the warves is very nice. It was too loud for my taste, especially with a table of 6 or 7 young women next to us who were enjoying a girls night out. We’d go back, but would plan better next time.
The food was excellent, but our server was awful. Barely attented to us as was cold at best when she did. The salsa 4 ways is a must and It's recommend adding the guac. My enchiladas we're great. My wife is both gluten and dairy free and she had multiple good options.
The food was good. However, we made a reservation and was still sat next to a table of 14 or so noisy girls. Should of had the foresight to let us know before we sat down
Fun, energetic atmosphere. Very much a pet friendly place with the outdoor seating. At first, we weren't exactly sure who was our server since a few different people waited on us. Great guoc, fish tacos and mushroom quesadillas. The upgrade Margarita was ok, not sure if it was truly all fresh lime since a little on the sweet side. Overall, excellent, friendly service and loved the food.
The vegan nachos are amazing! We usually eat outside but this time had lunch with a view of the wharf from the upper level. Great, as always!
Delicious Mexican food with a twist. Had the chicken tings chilaquiles and they were out of this world. A great selection of interesting cocktails. Also checkout out the breakfast and drink deal!
Had some friends visiting and walked down to the wharf for a late lunch. I wanted them to experience a great lunch in the center of Newport’s waterfront. As usual, Diego’s came through!
We specifically chose Diego’s because they had a gluten free menu, which had gotten good reviews. The food was horrible and the service was not great either. I had to wait over 20 minutes for my drink, which turned out to be the one thing that tasted good. Something was added to the guacamole to thin it out, it had a weird consistency and was pretty flavorless. I got the chicken enchiladas for dinner. Once again, incredibly flavorless and the refried beans were watery. To top it off, I ended up getting very sick that night and the whole next day. I think it is a fine place to go for drinks, but I would not recommend eating there.
The location is great and the ambiance is good but the food was awful. I got the steak frites and there was nothing enjoyable about this meal. Steak was dry and tasteless and surprisingly they did not have any sauces to spice it up. They did credit the steak and the pitchers of drinks were good so it was a silver lining on this experience. Do not think I would be going back anytime soon! Overrated for what it is
Service terrible, slow
We loved Diegos because they were super dog friendly. We had our two dogs with us and the waitstaff went out of their way to make them feel welcomed and comfortable. The food was ok. It could use a little more spice. But we will definitely come back to this place next time we’re in Newport because of how dog friendly they are.
Always great food and amazing ambiance. Service is always top notch too!
Simply excellent! The food was delicious, terrific cocktails and great location! The menu is varied and you will certainly find something special to eat. Highly recommended!
Food is great. Drinks too. Can’t stand you be nickeled and dimed to death. The nachos basically come “dry”. Paid extra for a 2oz portion of sour cream and 4 ox portion of salsa. $1 each. Come ON! For the food cost the dissatisfaction price is huge. I’m a local. Will unfortunately look elsewhere next time.
Had some amazing cocktails and delicious Mexican brunch! They have a $5 menu when you buy a drink, and they're all DELICIOUS. Try the eggs Benedict or the torta. So good.
Out 43rd anniversary...as usual it was fabulous food but excellent service from Zach
Great food and harbor view from the upstairs, but the music was very noisy.
The food was excellent. The service was subpar- our server wasn't friendly, seemed too busy to care. I left disappointed.
Margaritas were so good but the service was super slow. In all fairness, it was a Saturday night and it was busy. I would definitely go back again.
Great drinks and food. Except the nachos are terrible! Place is so loud and the service was horrible. We always love going there for drinks and thought we would try the food but never again. Go else where for dinner and go to Diego’s for drinks afterwards
Great food, fantastic service, and outstanding food!
We had an absolutely delicious meal! We shared two apps (guacamole with seafood and sauteed calamari) and an entree (local catch tacos). Everything tasted great, really flavorful and fresh, and service was good. The decor was punk rock inspired Mexican and fun to look at! We wish this place was in our neighborhood. We’d go all the time!
Really interesting menu. Great food & service!
Great mushroom tacos
Fun friendly service
Got apps before our drinks. Took 20 min for a server, server was very apologetic though
Was just not intrigued by this so called "californian infused mexican food" It was OK. Also seemed as though tables ordering alcohol were attended to more
We visited Diego's on a Sunday night during a recent weekend escape to Newport - what a treat this place is! I started with one of their signature cocktails - The Silver Fox - and YUMMMM!!! The Nachos are the best I've ever tried - we got the original nachos with grilled chicken and I could have happily eaten the entire plate as my main entree. For my main I ordered the quesadilla, and could only eat half...which was fine as the other half went home for the next night and was just as good then!
As a serious foodie, I would highly recommend you make Diego's part of your weekend experience....but make your reservations in advance because they are busy!
