I think if you are going to charge $5 for a glass of soda you should tell your customers that refills are not free.
Wonderful, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!! 41N has arrived as THE PLACE to dine in Newport. They've been challenged by inconsistent and/or mediocre food and service in the past but this Newport resident is THRILLED to discover that they've finally put all the elements together to become our favorite place to dine in town. Can't wait for our next visit to this exquisite venue to enjoy another evening of fine dining. Well done - keep it up!!!..and see you soon.
For such an upscale venue, your service never delivers.
The server was dressed like she should be a cocktail waitress at the Foxy Lady, not at an upscale restaurant. Never was offered fresh pepper, dessert or coffee. (Up-Sell People!!) Having your staff go under the bar to get to it is pretty lame as well. Can't complain about the food or portion size- it was very good.
Get it together on the staff front. It's been like this since day one.
Good food, waitress was very nice, tables and decor need to be spiffed up a little or polished (many dings) and the attire worn by the staff should be more polished overall too for the price you pay to dine there.
The ambiance was lovely! The bar scene very civilized. But, the food was just ok ! Stick with cocktails/ wine and maybe an appetizer !
41 N. is always a fantastic dining experience! We love the staff and how attentive they are! Best food ever!!
Thanks to The Grill at Forty 1 North, our party of six had a fantastic brunch. It is surprisingly hard to find nice restaurants for an 11am brunch on a Sunday in Newport. I booked this because we had family coming in on a cruise that had a port stop in Newport. Due to the high winds we were slightly delayed, but I called ahead and they were very kind and accommodating.
My husband had the burger, and he raved about it. I had a simple salmon bagel combo, it was nice. All of our drinks were delicious and everyone enjoyed their time there.
The food was well prepared but just too expensive for what it was.
Loved the food and ambiance
When I'm spending $350 for a nice dinner out, I expect there to be free valet / free parking. Charging me $10 to park for the privilege of dining at your restaurant is an insult. At the very least, take my keys and validate my parking ticket upon the paying of my bill; I'll tip the valet at least $5-$10. I'm happy to pay top $ for good food & service (truly), but I don't think I'm alone when I say that I do NOT like to be nickel & dimed. If charging $10 parking is baked into your P&L as a restaurant in Newport, then you got problems or you're cheap! When the parking attendant ran up to me immediately upon my pulling into a parking place & asked for $10, I felt like "what kind of low class joint is this?!" The food & service were above par, but I won't go to Grill @ 41 N or recommend them until they fix their parking situation.
Great food and amazing view! Expensive, but worth it for a special occasion
A perfect evening... the wait staff was exceptional and the food was so good!!!
Valet parking cost $20 which is excessive given the area and off season and considering the parking lot was empty. Server was attentive, and meals were tasty but not exceptional. Overall a decent restaurant. Location is exceptional with stunning sunsets and harbor views.
The atmosphere is very nice, quiet and calm for Sunday brunch. However, the food and service were just ok. Would probably be ok just for a drink, but I don’t think we’d go back for a meal there.
A bunch of us went here for a bachelorette weekend for my best friend who’s getting married. Our party was 10 in total, but they didn’t have a problem seating us right by the water and even went above and beyond to make sure the umbrellas were moved over for us so we weren’t in the direct sun, it was really very kind. The food was great, as was the waitress — great scenery and environment. The bride-to-be very much enjoyed it. Would highly recommend!
Everything was great. We got there a bit early so we sat at the bar for a drink and the hostess came and seated us at our reservation time. Food was delicious. The only surprise was when we arrived and wanted to valet the car. Normally on Open Table when it says valet parking it’s complimentary. However people should be aware that there was a $20 fee for valet parking at this restaurant. Probably wouldn’t have changed our choice to valet but always nice to know before you get there.
Food and service were excellent. We had the crab cakes benedict, which was exquisite and cooked perfectly. The mimosas, on the other hand, were small and expensive, as was the coffee. Staff was very attentive.
The service and food here are spectacular and it is one of the best spots in all of Newport to oversee the harbor and watch the sunset. Always a great choice
This was the best dining experience. The food was absolutely incredible!!! and the service was great. Recommending it to all and will definitely be returning!
It was a new place for us. The restaurant was pretty empty but it is lovely. The service was good the food was great.
My husband and I had an exceptional meal at Forty 1 North! Everything was wonderful, from the food to the service, to the beautiful location!
Food and service was fantastic. Beautiful view. We will be back.
We loved our brunch here! The lemon ricotta pancakes were heavenly! Our group of 6 enjoyed the setting so much we returned for after dinner cocktails the same night.
We were celebrating two big birthdays. We are from Chicago and took out family that lives near Westerly. Lunch started out great but after food arrived we never saw server again. It really spoiled our last day in town. Food was great though.
Went for a post anniversary lunch, service was great, and the views were spectacular.
Made notation of my wife’s birthday when I made the reservation on opentable. Restaurant did not even acknowledge it let alone offer a candle.
Long wait for a table.
Loud, distasteful music blasting, along with servers who are rough and rude. 20 dollar cocktails— 40 dollar entrees, very expensive0 for small portions and average food.
A bit confusing at first since we couldn't find the hostess. There was another group that was also confused about where the hostess was. They had asked the hotel front desk person and she directed them outside so we headed out there but then asked a server for the hostess and she directed us back inside and was not very nice about it. To be honest, the hostess seemed confused herself. Maybe she was busy? But there were only about 2 tables seated and no crowd. Not sure what was going on. After being seated, our server was excellent and everything we had was delicious. Waterfront with all the yachts combined with the bright white decor and lively music selection was very pleasant. Would dine there again.
fantastic place to have an outdoor dinner during the summer. Beautiful views of the harbor and a vary vibrant bar scene to match. Food is executed very well and terrific choices. The indoor restaurant is a great choice if you don't want the noise of the club music that permeates the outdoor bar.
Loved everything about this place. My only issue was that our food wasn’t hot. Felt like it was luke warm under a lamp
Love the ambiance and setting at 41 North. I eat out in Newport very frequently and the only reason I don't come here more often is 1. the menu selection and 2. the price point. I am all for spending $250++ on dinner and drinks, if they are delicious. Their menu is just overall lacking. Entree options don't seem to change with the seasons, or at all..... drinks are tasty, but nothing special. $18-20/ drink, I want a craft cocktail not just vodka with lemon and cucumber. $24 charcuterie plate that is mostly just bread. Anyway, still a great spot for just an app and drink with a date or friends.
Lovely setting on the water overlooking the ocean/marina and boats. Great brunch food selection but timing of service was a little off with a mixture of entrees and appetizers being brought out all at once. Don’t pass on the dessert menu. The strawberry basil trifle was amazing and not to be missed!
Nice location. They charge you to park -$20.00 even if you are dining in one of their restaurants. Our dining occasion was brunch.
The hostess sat us outside which was nice.
The server we had was extremely unsocial and did a horrible job at engaging our party. She did little to make us feel welcomed and even less when it came to service. We had to request silver ware and napkins, along with salt and pepper. Once the food arrived, which was well done from the kitchen, she disappeared for second round drinks and the like.
The lack of service was evident by a lack of proper training. This experience was a complete disappointment and we will not be returning again.
The restaurant is very noisy. Service was a bit slow.
went here with my husband and another couple. we sat outside. it did not appear to be very busy (our reservation was at 9:30pm). my husband ordere the filet w/side of asparagus & he liked it very much. my friend & I both got the clam chowder & it came out luke warm & the clams were dry & chewy. we didnt even finish it. the waitress didn’t even check back to see how everything was so i flagged her down & told her the soup wasn’t hot & just not good. she took jt back & immediately came back with 2 more bowls & sadly it tasted the same. we did not send the soups back again. my friend got the salmon & it was ok but definitely not the best. she also got a side salad & it came plain with just lettuce!! are u kidding me? i would only Recommend this place for the ambience only and maybe a couple drinks. Don’t bother with the food. Never been to an upscale restaurant where the food and service was so poor.
Food was just average
I was blown away by the beautiful harbor and the snobbery of the staff! We arrived on time for our reservation and were seated at a table in the worst location. It was placed right in the thoroughfare where everyone has to squeeze by whether it’s guests going to their seat or servers going to and from the kitchen. We asked to be moved. The hostess didn’t really care even though I explained why. She proceeded to seat others at the tables I asked to be moved to only to come back and say she had “a lot of reservations” but would ask the manager. 15 minutes go by and there are still multiple open tables. She passes by twice more, ignoring us. Meanwhile the server was came to take our drink order. She was nice enough but didn’t seem experienced and wasn’t friendly. The hostess comes by and offered in a rush to move us to a back table where you can’t see the view at all. The whole reason (previously expalined) for dining here was the view. We stayed in our seats until finally another of the staff comes up and says they have a table for us up front. We move and are first served a dish of crackers which aren’t any good and then our entrees of halibut. The dish was ok but didn’t exceed expectations. The fish had a good sear but not very flavorful even with the syrupy sauce underneath. The fennel was barely soft but edible. We watched the sun set over the gorgeous boats which is what I planned our whole evening around. It really was beautiful! It is a shame we were treated the way we were. It’s not as if we weren’t tidy or were underdressed. Besides, there were dogs under most of the guest tables and children who behaved poorly.
Our server was fantastic. Celebrated our 32nd anniversary there and our table and view were great. The food is overpriced for what you get and it was a much louder experience than we anticipated when we made the reservation.
Excellent food, service, great view!!! Highly recommend!!!
