Opened in August 2013, Stoneacre Pantry is a neighborhood restaurant focused on sustainability and a positive relationship with our local environment. Our menu is small, seasonal, and supports nearby farms and fishermen with fish from nearby waters and meats from local farms that raise their animals humanely. The wine list highlights small producers from France and many of our cocktails have housemade components.

Excellent! Exceptional food - quality and creativity. Great wine options. We went back twice within three days.
We received a gift certificate from our SF based, foodie daughter a few years ago, when StoneAcre was on
lower Thames- she loved it, and we also found it charming, quirky and delicious- we ate in the garden - even returned. She and family stayed in Jamestown 2 weeks this summer, and returned to the new version of the restaurant , and liked the changes and advised us to give it another try.
Try we did on a weeknight. We were bowled over by the interior design (my wife's field) but must say the food was mediocre at best. It was 1/2 full and with music (thumpy fashion runway type) , it was loud but tolerable at first. they seemed to gradually kick up the volume (to make up for lack of patrons ?)
I know that's young and hip, but I like to talk and listen to co diners. When the dessert menu arrived , even though my wife wanted to indulge, I begged that we go out for a walk just to get some acoustic relief .
At least 1/2 of the diners were our age (60-70) so owners: it's up to you. If you want to limit your customers to the youth that still have all their decibel reception intact, keep the music thumping.
Steak frites was barely acceptable. Chicken fritters contained only dough. I told the waiter and they said that’s how they come. Left it on the table untouched.
The pasta was good but the only placed it on 1/2 the plate.
Espresso was so sour and liquidy. It was terrible.
Honestly wanted to like the restaurant but it was a total let down.
Hopefully the owerns read this and change things.. quickly!
Chicken fritter app was dry, Kale salad had odd flavor. Mint sauce with scallops was an odd pairing. Had to ask for bread, few slices of french bread came doused in oil.
A short but well thought out menu that changes with the seasons. Certainly fit for a locovore.
Always a favorite. Service is consistent. This occasion 4 of the five of us did the 4 course prix fixe menu that includes dessert and it was excellent. Special of the night was ordered for appetizer along with the charred camembert with peaches which is superb and always amazing. Watermelon salad is a favorite. Great wine list. Superb service always, water glasses are kept filled, napkins are refolded when a patron leaves the table, silverware is kept replenished between courses, waitstaff does not hover, but is always on hand. Both lunch and brunch are always good as well. A favorite to bring out of town guests.
Great service and drinks were great, but food was nothing I would go back for, especially at the price they charged I was quite disappointed.
We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner. The restaurant is friendly and welcoming and the food is very good. The one fault was the service, we ordered starters and a main with two sides. After the starters, they forgot the main course and it took three attempts by different staff to sort this out, the side dishes never came. It didn’t spoil our enjoyment as we were in no rush, but they need to sharpen up the service.
Restaurant is beautiful as it is an old bank with the original penny tile floor with replica chandelier. The service was very friendly and good. Got the local green salad, scallop crudo and scallop entree. Chocolate mousse for dessert. All delicious and fresh. The Mezcal drink was very good and not too smoky. I would definitely return.
We had our anniversary dinner here last week and had a great time. I tried the tasting menu and enjoyed each of the four courses. My only suggestion would be some fun fruity drinks, we tried 2 drinks from the specialty menu and both were more bitter than fruity. Other than that we had a great time.
Service was great. Food was very good. Portions weren’t huge but were not as skimpy as I’ve had elsewhere. I would definitely go back. My husband had prime rib. I had cavatelli with mushrooms & cheese with an egg on top.
Would not recommend ..........
Food OK, service chaotic, ambiance minimal (noisy/brash), food and wine over-priced
Pretentious........... new, and needs to get its act together
It took a really long time for the drinks and appetizers to come. Portions are very small and not WOW. Service was friendly but slow. Overall a disappointment from my first visit there when you first opened.
The Salmon crab cakes were amazing along with all the other food we had. The waitstaff was extremely attentive, refilling our waters, checking on our needs etc. They brought out our dessert with a candle for our Anniversary which was a nice surprise! Even their coffee was delicious!
Always a winner here! One of my favorite places in Newport to meet friends over great food and drinks.
The food is fine. It takes a while to make it to your table. It was a good hour from getting seated until be got our first app. The portions are small. The service is fine.
We had high hopes for Stoneacre, but were met with a mediocre meal. Perhaps because they change the menu so frequently, the food seemed to lack a certain finesse that you expect from an expensive restaurant. For example, the summer squash was cut too thickly and therefore watery and bland. The "charred camembert" came out lukewarm rather than the hot, oozy cheese you expect. My husband's caesar salad was covered in so many mushrooms, he had to look for the lettuce. And on top of it all, I had indicated on OpenTable that the dinner was for our anniversary and yet we didn't even receive a "congrats" from the waiter. No acknowledgment at all - which is OK but you would think a place like this would take the time to notice that detail. Overall, none of the dishes we had wowed us, and we left feeling a bit disappointed.
Food was ok at best. Courses took a long time to come out - I enjoy multi course meals, but this was awkward. My mom’s greens had dirt or sand on it. They were so confused on who ordered what. Would not go back and it won’t be there next year. $230 for 4 people and now eating a slice of pizza to have a decent meal.
Delicious! The food is creatuve and exquisite! Always memorable!
If you are looking for a true gastro experience, this is the place. The chef uses the freshest ingredient adding
a unique taste to every dish. The staff is attentive, informative and extremely friendly.
Stoneacre never disappoints! The creative menu changes frequently and the food is prepared carefully. They also have very interesting wines, so you're likely to discover something new here.
Picked this out from Trip Advisor and was also given in a list of favourites by a local resident
Food was okay, service was terrible! We sat there with empty drinks, no one came around to ask how food was or if we needed anything. Overall we were disappointed.
The decor and the service were outstanding. The quality of the food was acceptable. My mussels were not the freshest and the size of the mussels was rather small. Seeing that it was a Monday around lunch time, I should probably not have ordered that particular dish. The hot pepper however overpowered the entire taste of the mussels. The French fries that I special ordered would have been better at McDonalds. My wife's "Burrata" was a generous portion and was very fresh with the beatifull tomatoes. I do not understand why the smoked plums had to spoil the taste of a dish that in itself would have been perfect.
Great food, great service and one of my favorite places to eat in Newport!
We came here for our one year anniversary. The service was amazing. The staff was extremely accommodating to my gluten and dairy allergies. They even whipped up a gf/DF marshmallow on the spot so I could enjoy a dessert.
The restaurant is beautiful and the service is excellent but the food wasn’t great. We tried several side dishes and while I love roasted eggplant as well as a kale salad I didn’t enjoy these. Also we ordered a dirty martini and they used kalamata olives so it was purple and the restaurant didn’t have the traditional green olives so wouldn’t recommend ordering it. Also before the meal they brought out a chef complimentary starter that had mango & plums. We’ll eat anything and aren’t picky but it didn’t taste good.
This has become our new favorite spot. The service is absolutely outstanding.
Highly recommend this restaurant to any foodie coming to Newport.
Our group loved the restaurant! Service was great, food was amazing, and ambience was captivating.
Loved everything from the seriously creative, fresh, and just plain GOOD food and drinks, to the super friendly, professional and attentive service, and lastly the beautiful decor, made for a wonderful evening. Thank you!
Superb food and service! We enjoyed celebrating our birthdaysv(4 of us) with unique drinks, heavenly fries, and mouth-watering main courses. The pasta was one of the best ever, and I’m Italian! Great spot.
Food was terrible. Appetizer saucisson was covered in oil and the casing was left on. I asked for dressing I. The side for my salad and it came mixed in. I didn’t want to wait so didn’t say anything. This place misses the mark. We won’t Ben back nor recommend it.
Our last night in Newport, RI couldn't have ended on a better note than having dinner at this off the waterfront gem. Service was absolutely impeccable. I don't know if our water glasses ever got below 2/3 full. Simply presented bread and olive oil was solid. Chef's compliment of flatbread with a hummus was amazing. We ate the spread without the bread when we ran out. A kale salad with warm hen o'the woods and pesto was out of this world. The pork belly dish with ratatouille and roasted chicken with wild rice, my daughter, who is twelve, and I exchanged plates halfway through the meal just because we could! My wife and son both had the steak frites. The caramelized onion on that beef was so perfect. And how does anyone stop eating those fries?! We seriously wanted to have coffee and dessert there, but we were so full. Well, the check came with homemade marshmallows so we left with something sweet on our tongues. An amazing food experience at Stoneacre Brasserie is what any foodie will get. Thank you to the staff at Stoneacre, you guys definitely know how to get it done.
Fantastic as always. When in Newport we never miss it. Looking forward to next time👍
They prepared the best dinner in my 64 years of life.
We had the good times menu for our entire table of five for a birthday. Everything was tasty especially scallops and salmon pate and frenh onion soup. However the chef kind of over did it on the duck. It was served as a pate, served raw and cooked as well. It wasn’t agreeable with everyone. Everyone liked the cooked version. I would suggest another meat in the future. Oh and the dessert was awesome.
We had a pretty terrible experience at Stoneacre. The food took FOREVER (not exaggerating 2 1/2 hours for someone to order their entree). The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. Cocktails were great, as were the deserts, but there are definitely better dining experiences out there! Don't waste your time.
My husband and I had a double date here for Saturday brunch with our friends. Service was good (I liked the fact that they had gluten free bread and food options), food was good but I wouldn’t call it excellent, it was a solid B but not an A+.
Great food and gorgeous decor; I only wish music would be more subdued.
