Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath Ratings and Reviews
The food was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. However, the meals are slightly overpriced for the quantity of food you get. People seating next to us were negatively surprised as well when they saw their dinner plates arriving...
They staff is very friendly but not very reactive - waiting times after ordering water or a glass of wine were quite long.
I would give it a second chance, though if they take these things into consideration.
Fantastic food and venue. Excellent spot for a date night. The only small thing that might not be for everyone is the fact that it got a little smokey in the room with all the meats being cooked on stones on surrounding tables. Will certainly go back again.
I have eaten here on numerous occasions and found it excellent. This time my fav starter chicken wings were soggy not the usual crispy pleasure of normal. The steak was also a bit below usual standard.
Dinner date for two. Our first time eating in this lovely wee restaurant. Staff were very pleasant from the off and the food itself was cooked to perfection. Lovely establishment, nice ombiance and overall a very pleasant dining experience.
I love this Restaurant, consistently good organic food and service at reasonable prices. It was my friends birthday and we had a fabulous four course meal with wine. Everything was delicious and very tasty. Just one small complaint in that I think €28 for a bottle of House wine is quite expensive!
Favorite restaurant hands-down. First choice for all birthdays, dates or catch-ups. Cocktails are amazing and food is great for dietary restrictions, staff attentive as well.
We had a lovely evening at the rustic stone - we were sitting downstairs, which seemed to be more quiet than upstairs. The staff was very friendly and everyone of us loved the food: it was very tasty! Yet, there was an additional service charge on the check. We asked the staff about this additional service charge as the menu said it will be charged for six or more people. As we were only five people, it seemed strange to us. The staff apologized for this inconvenience and returned the money.
Take the pasta of the menu, awful. Had 2 dishes, cant say which one was worse... I've eaten better at the Autogrill in Italy. Shockingly poor. Ps. Relax on the parmesan, you know you can serve it apart, we are adults, we can work a spoon.
Clearly a place to have only meat, which I had before, and was divine, but we cooked it :)
Chicken wings nice and cocktails also, but you expect a lot more from Dylan.... send someone to have a look every so often, keep an eye. Slipping.
On this occasion I had two Irish Times vouchers. I was tentative as to whether there might be a difference in type, amount of food from other meals we've enjoyed previously but we were all pleasantly surprised with both type and amount of each course. And, of course, we'll look forward to returning soon again.
Rustic stone is consistently good food, service, wine, and overall value for money. You get what you pay for in a lovely ambience
Had a lovely night on Tuesday 26th of September. Great cocktails on the the bar upstairs and lovely meal at Rustic Stone. Great service (Grohan I think was our waiter)! Also, thanks for my the little birthday cake for my girlfriend. See you guys soon! Well Done!
Excellent restaurant, excellent food. Service was a little slow and disorganized, but overall a great experience. The chocolate soup for dessert was a definite over the top treat.
A very creative and well executed menu. We got the T-bone for 2 which came with 3 condiments, Arugula with nuts, Pesto and fried Anchovies which provided a truly unique flavor option. The Shrimp Lollipops were also very tasty and unique. The idea of cooking on a hot stone was well executed. However, having to de-bone a T-bone with my table steak knife on a crowded table for 2 with wine and sides was not a great experience. I'd rather have had the chef portion/de-bone the steak in the kitchen and send it out for me to slice, or even do it Peter Lugar style (sliced and serviced). Also, our steak filled the restaurant with a haze of smoke that took 15 minutes to clear. Great ingredients, unique flavors and experience for a pretty steep price. Glad I did it, but not sure I'd repeat next time I am in town unless I ordered smaller, easier to manage dishes.
Rustic Stone was recommended by a friend. It was less than average. The monkfish is awful. The cauliflower was excellent but couldn't come close to making up for everything else. We spent well over $150.00 and had a better meal at the local pub. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Would never go back or recommend to anyone.
The meal was very well presented and tasty. We both had steak on the stone. The fillet was delicious as was my fiend's sirloin. The Pesto chips were fantastic also. Well recommended
Overall extremely unsatisfied with my booking. The food was top notch, hard to fault anything to be fair. However every other piece of the puzzle left much to be desired. 1, I booked this table to celebrate 2 birthdays months in advance and asked for a preferential table along with a candle in my GFs dessert. Our table was beside the kitchen and extremely noisy and there was no candle. I even emailed twice in the week before the bookinv to confirm and I was told it was all fine. 2, This is an expensove place which is fine. But with that price tag you expect some service, The waiter brought our drinks to the table but did not pour them, small issue but its expected with this price. I assked for the cheque in the end and then waited 15 minutes as the waiter forgot and when he remembered he then handed me the cheque over my shoulder from behind and did not place it on the table.
The food was great but I would never recommend it or bring clients here as I felt a lot was left to be desired outside of the actual food, compliments to the chef on that.
Loved the raw share platter. It was absolutely divine. Every component of the board was so tasty. We had steak on a stone for mains. Both were lovely but the stone didn't stay hot long enough to cook the whole of the sirloin steak. The side dishes were lovely but maybe an option of having the polenta chips for 2 would be better as 6 chips between 2 isn't enough. Cocktails were amazing . Didn't have dessert as nothing really jumped out but was more than satisfied leaving . Would come back to try the rest of the menu 😊
We booked table for 9pm on a Friday evening and the place was really busy. It got better after 10pm though. The food was amazing and the waiting staff is friendly and helpful. I would, however, next time find a less busy hour and day for our dinner, as the noise level was quite high.
Myself and the girlfriend had high-expectations for the food here and they were surpassed. Certainly mine anyway, she wasn't too bad fond of her desert, but neither of us are mad about desert usually anyway, and we were both full after the main course too so that was a very minor letdown. Would highly recommend to others! Also worth mentioning, I had ordered a beer that I was still waiting for 10 mins later - asked about it (didn't complain, just mentioned it to a passing member of staff), got it within 5 minutes AND wasn't charged for it. Outstanding experience!
My forth visit to Rustic and really enjoyed it. Service was a bit hit and miss as it was very busy. ordered Pesto Chips and had to remind the Waiter twice that I hadn't received them and they came when I had finished my meal. Annoying when I had to pay extra to have them and then couldn't enjoy them with my meal.
Never disappointed by Rustic Stone. The menu selection, service and food are all fantastic. Highly recommend.
Had a friend I hadn't seen in a while in town for a night and I took her here because she enjoys eating healthy and I am a vegetarian and the menu looked good for both of us. We both got side portions of their salads which was plenty and a side of the pesto chips which were delicious and nice to split. The wine was also delicious but mostly I would recommend for the atmosphere and environment!
It was very good and the experience with the stone food was very interesting . Our server was a very nice young man who explained well to us how to order et to get the food ready. Overall it was very fun.
Excellent restaurant near Temple Bar I would highly recommend it. Creative & interesting menu. Food was well-prepared well-seasoned & well presented. Great ambience & great service and reasonably priced. Will definitely return next time I visit Dublin. Loved it!
The food was really good, price was fair but on the limit, however the only downside was that the tables are too close to each other to the point that it a bit uncomfortable, for instance we can't move without bump into others chair.
The ventilation was terrible, every time they brought the dishes the smoke coming out from the plate would cover the whole restaurant. Some waiters instead of serving food were holding the doors open so that the smoke could come out. Also the quality of the meat was lower than I expected. The marinades or the treatment of the meat wasn't great. Overall the service was not very professional for the price you pay.
Our hotel concierge recommended Rustic Stone for our last night in Dublin, and we were delighted with all aspects. The service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was modern and lovely. The food combinations were as creative (and delicious) as any we had experienced. Highly recommended.
We had a table of 4 on a Saturday night. It was all excellent. Everything we ate was delicious and the beef shin truffle pasta dish would be worth going back for on its own. I knock off a star because it's noisy and I'm weird about crowds. However, it's so good it's a fair deal that it is busy.
