Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

I was extremely happy with the food and the service. It was well worth the price (although outside my usual budget) for the sake of a special occasion and I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Rustic Stone is a very nice place with amazing food and very good service. The quality if the meat is the best quality of the restaurant in my opinion, and the fact that you can prepare it as your preference on the stone is a huge plus.

Both myself and my fiancée really enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxed with an element of fun, yet professional throughout. We will definitely recommend and return soon.

The Service und Waitress was too intrusive. We were constantly asked for further requests and we thought that was too much. We had the feeling that we have to order again or pay immediately. Our conversations during the meal were interrupted again and again that was clearly too much service and caused the opposite of the good service. After all, you are a resturant with distinction.

The quality of the food is really great, the Athmosphare and the offer of the hot stone is simply a special feature.
I ordered the 250g steak with a layer of potatoes and found it a bit too monotonous and too little side dish
And I'm certainly not a person who eats a lot.

If you work at these points, I believe you will qualify for the Best Restaurant Award in Dublin in the future again

Very loud and service was slow.
We had beef on hot stone, but the stone were not hot enough for long enough.
We ordered Dexter beef which was available at order, but then were told is was not available.

The place was lovely. We had a really nice waiter. Think he was new but he was so nice. Food was good. We had starters which were great. Would have liked to have steak but i didnt really want to cook it myself so i decided to go with burger. We wanted well done. It was nice but the bottom of the burger was hard cause it was bit burnt. Aperol Spritz was the best we ever had. Really good. Overall it was good. Will come again.

I had a number of my colleagues over from the US\Europe and a few local. I was the only person who had been here before. I was really looking forward to eating here again, and you did not disappoint. It was a fantastic meal. everyone at the table thought the food was incredible. It was the quietest dinner I was ever at, because everyone was too busy eating. It was brilliant! Thank you so much for a very special evening and meal

Visited the restaurant late on a Saturday night. We all chose fish (monkfish, halibut and tuna) and we all LOVED our choices - no envying someone else's meal as, with so many options on the menu, we all found something to please.
As for sides - the truffle chips are a must!
The quality of the food was terrific and worth the money for a special night out. Will definitely go again.

The service was fantastic. Loved my starter & mains (prawn lollipops & tuna steak). Loved the whole experience of the stone. Made a bit of an event of the dinning experience. My partner had crab toast to start which gave me food envy. Special mention to the sides. I need the chips served here in my life on a regular basis. Only downside was my pudding, chocolate cake. It didn’t blow me away, but it didn’t spoil a really good evening. Will go again.

Service was very slow. We were halfway through our meal by the time our drinks order was taken. Sides ordered didn’t arrive until almost finished meal. Prices very high for quality of food. Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant a few years ago but this time it felt dated and worn out

The concept of the meat on the stone is a great one and the quality of the meat was excellent. Nevertheless as a non Chef you can also end up with overcooked meat. Other than that the staff was really friendly and the service was good.

I was with my 10 year son, who loves good food. We both got a steak on the stone and the waiter was so kind explaining to him how the whole thing worked. Cutting up his meat etc and explained about taking it off etc. The restaurant was quiet only because it was 5 when we were there but plenty of atmosphere by 7 when we were leaving. Great restaurant, very good food, and loads of options. Overall great meal

The food was very good. Fun way to eat as it was served on a hot stone. The service did not match the food. First we got a dirty glass and then my friend had to wait for his cider (that was served in a bottle) a couple of minutes into the meal without an appology. When I asked a simply question on how the kitchen prepared and cooked the food the waitor couldn’t answer the question and didn’t bother to find out. When we paid for the food the waiter in a not so smooth way asked how much we wanted to tip. When we paid for the food the restaurant wanted our table as quick as possible and did there for offer us a discount on the restaurants newly opened cocktailbar. When we tried to go to the cocktailbar we were stopped and asked were we where going. We were told that the cocktailbar wasn’t opened on sundays. A great restaurant would have delt with all of these mistakes in a proffesional way and found a way to compensate us for the bad service experience.

All in total, this restaurant has potential of being great but the service holds it down. I wouldn’t recommend people to go there if they have high expectations on service. I would peobably recommend some other restaurant.

We had visitors in from the US and Italy. It was great to bring them to Rustic Stone and experience a truly unique culinary pleasure in Dublin. The staff were very pleasant and attentive, the food was amazing and the atmosphere was ideal for a Monday evening business dinner. The only small criticism I have on this occasion is our table was a little cramped. We were a party of 5, which can be an awkward number but the table was really more suited to a party of 4. Three of us sitting on the one side was a little cosy and when the person inside needed to move it disrupted the whole table and people behind us. But I would still return, as the service, food, setting and experience was still very enjoyable. Thank you.

Food was very average and over priced for the quality. My first fillet steak was marbled with fat which i gave back and it was replaced promptly. I didnt feel very relaxed. The food was rushed and the bill landed on our table before we requested it. I had been in Rustic stone last year and had a lovely experience but this time i found the waiters very pushy to get us in and out as soon as. Iam sad to say i will not be recommending Rustic Stone.

Love the food. Fun to cook on the stone. Live in the USA and this restaurant in Dublin is a must when traveling there. My only regret is the menu changes. The menu use to offer combination cooking items I.e. fillet and shrimp, etc, I miss that.

Fantastic, tasty, fresh creative food, menu a little meat heavy so check it out first if you are veggie/vegan and like choice, as you will mostly be picking from salad options. I am, I did and what a salad - went for the orange salad/just what the doctor ordered. Staff are incredibly friendly too. And wine choices superb. Top tip if you want to go upstairs for a cocktail after, make sure to book a table from the restaurant.

Food was great at Rustic Stone, and we really enjoyed the experience. The service was marginal at best however, with the wait staff needing training on the basics of customer service. They were in a hurry, completely numb to customers, and not focused on the experience. I would hesitate to go again.

Booked a table for two on Thursday early afternoon for Saturday night, arrived on Saturday and our table was beside the toilet and beside the drinks bar which was very noisy as waiting staff were drying and putting away cutlery. When booking the table there were numerous times to choose from so I thought we would have a decent table. We weren't a walk in reservation and had planned a nice evening. We ate our food and got out of there as quickly as possible as we couldn't have a drink in peace.
