Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

Excellent early dinner on a TheTaste.ie voucher. Food, service, quality all excellent. Really nice fresh ingredients. A little bit different in a good way.

Very disappointed with the food standard, pasta dish was sitting in a pool of liquid which was very unappealing, rib eye quality was suspect.

Sadly it was a very disappointing experience. We were left waiting for over 45mins for desserts that never arrived. We asked 3 different waiters during this time and it never arrived. We had to leave as we couldn’t wait any longer and had an appointment. We were given the voucher for our cocktails which we had to have another day but no desserts. I had bought an offer with a The Taste which included 3 courses, bottle of wine and cocktails. To have to leave without getting the full meal when it was already paid for, was frustrating and disappointing. Service sadly was lacking throughout the evening and the tables around us were saying the same as they were waiting for things also. When seated downstairs you feel completely forgotten about, not a good option. Won’t be back soon.

Our food was fabulous and that is why we would recommend rustic stone but the tables are crammed in too tight and we felt very rushed. When you pay this price you expect to be able to relax a little more

The only detractor is that the tables are too close together so you can hear the people beside you..

After a rough start with service (needed to request menus and wine list and ask to order), we had excellent food and service. The dinner was truly a unique experience. Make sure you do the upstairs bar before or after dinner.

We have been to Rustic Stone a good number of times, for both lunch and dinner.
But this was the most pleasant of them.
The food was in all aspects incredible. The quality, the flavour, the presentation, the quantity. All spot on.

The service was top notch and the staff are the right level of attentive and stand off’ish. They are always knowledgeable of the menu and ready to be helpful.

The only real downside is the toilet set up. I wouldn’t be a fan. There are 3 unisex toilets downstairs.
The wash up facilities are in the toilets and there is no area set aside for those who wish to hog the mirrors.

When I went to complain about my food which I had to send back, got the beef pasta, couldn't get my knife and fork I to the beef, I was told all the beef had been overcooked and I could order something else even though my husband was almost finished his meal so I went with no food, the manager was aggressive, rude and argumentative with me, I am 8 and half months pregnant. He was totally unprofessional and should not be running a Dylan McGrath resaurant. Worst experience I've ever had

Pretentious. Overpriced and fairly uninspired food. Noisy to start with and volume increased. Was interesting to check it out but won't be rushing to back or more than likely ever revisiting. Definitely a case of style over substance.

Nice food and nice place, but service wasn’t very good! When our food was coming two plates fell down on the floor from the waitress, we were 4 on the table, so we have to wait for the other two plate to come. And then a bottle of wine from the table beside us fell in between both tables when the waitress was delivering their food and spill all over the place.

I really loved the restaurant 4 years ago but now it was not the same again. We were sitting in the basement, the staff seemed to be understaffed.
The staff seemed to be interested in the beginning but was not paying attention to the guests after ordering and serving food. A service charge was included on the bill without mentioning on the menu or to us beforehand.

Second time here. Very nice food and the atmosphere was nice. Not sure if the drinks order was forgotten as we had to remind the waiter for it as we all got our starters and nearly finished before we got our drinks. My rib eye was really good and the only down side with the mains was the pork pappardelle was very sweet but its our opinion.
With the desserts one of the desserts was forgotten but thank you for bringing out a brownie for my brother for his birthday which was a really nice touch.

We will be back again, food was lovely 😊

Was disappointed, had been here before, brought some friends to what was my favorite restaurant.

On arrival we went to the bar as we were early, we were asked if we had vouchers, we didn't know about vouchers. We were told not to worry you get a free cocktail with the vouchers "I wll speak to my manager for you", that was the last we heard of the cocktails and the menus were removed from our table.

Service wasn't great, was slow and some of the order was missing. I shared a chicken wing starter with one of my friends, I asked if they had wipes or water and lemon, they brought water and lemon for me to clean my fingers, none for my friend who had the sharing starter with me, the water was boiling as it had just come out of a kettle.

We waited with our dessert menus forever before our order was taken, I think our waiter must have gone off shift.

We had a drink in the bar upstair after, but my friend had returned a cocktail twice as it wasn't that good.

After paying over €200 for dinner for 3 people, we found out you can get a voucher for a 3 Course Dinner with a Bottle of Wine Plus 2 Cocktails for Two People at Rustic Stone for only €50. Which was the voucher we were asked about in the bar on arrival.

We liked the atmosphere of this place, the waitress was very friendly and enthusiastic which we enjoyed.
However food was not anything more than ordinary. There is plenty of restaurants in Dublin that do steaks of the same quality for much better value. We were also disappointed by the noise. Tables are so close together that you can clearly hear what people next to you are talking about, plus the background music was too loud and disturbing.
All in all it wasn't a bad experience but we left the restaurant disappointed.
