Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

I have been going to rustic stone for few years, the quality of the food it’s always good, however the polenta chips got smaller during the last few months and the salads portions have been reduced too.
The desserts menu should be refreshed as they have been the same for the last few years.

Food and service at our table was good, however the waiter was not as familiar with the menu as I would expect... not something that bothered us. Overall in the restaurant there was a feeling that EVERYONE was under pressure.. this makes customer feel slightly unwelcome and more of an inconvenience than anything. I would recommend to a friend as the food was delicious, but I would also warn them that it can feel a bit rushed so not for a relaxing meal.

The evening we had dinner, it was very hot in the restaurant. The tables were very close together and the noise level was extremely high. The wine was not chilled and at €9 .50 a glass it should be perfect. The food was nice and staff were polite and courteous.

The food was delicious. Steak was a little bit pricey considering it didn't come with any sides. My waiter was training and new which I understand but as he had no supervision our drinks did not arrive till after the steak even though I asked several waiters several different times. Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere but would have preferred a couple more drinks but because we got our drinks so late there was no point.

After reading the comments elsewhere we where expecting Irish cuisine revisited and in fact we had a blad what so ever cooking dinner - the burger was greasy, the meat in stone served with what could be industrial sauces ... in one word not good food experience

It was enjoyable; however for what we ate on reflection it was not value for money.
I found the drinks menu very restrictive; gin and whiskey being the main flavors.
Trying a bit too hard to be with the in crowd.

Pleasant service, quirky menu, menu descriptions don’t really match when the food is delivered but it tasted good so it wasn’t a bother. That said, once was enough; don’t feel a need or desire to return. It’s as tho THEY know who they are but don’t think their customers are cool enough to let in on the secret.

We visited here on a taste voucher. Service was excellent and quality of food was superb. We shared wings and bread and dips for starters. We then had burgers and rump of beef served on hot stone followed by chocolate mousse and raw fruit. Flavours were all excellent. Great value for money and would highly recommend.

Steak on the stone came out medium rare before getting the chance to cook on the stone.
Pickled onions as a side was poor enough.
The last bottle of water had a strange taste to it. Replaced without issue. Service was great though.

Excellent meal, will highly recommend to friends and clients. Very good quality meats, veg and drinks. Next time I will request table upstairs as less of an ambiance downstairs and dark especially during the summer months.

Ambiance was poor
Squashed seating
Better deserts on masterchef.. brioche was just a cup of custard
Malbec at 10e a glass was flat no zest
Not a top restaurant by any standards very let down

Too expensive and wine cost huge. Not fair to add cost for sides. Eg chipped potatoes. Relaxed atmosphere.

Great way to eat beef, if you don’t mind a little extra work finishing the cooking at the table yourself.

This was an AMAZING restaurant in a very unassuming location! The service was superb. Our waiter was very attentive, and when he was otherwise engaged and I needed to check something, another waiter noticed and immediately asked to help me. The food was delicious, with perfect serving sizes. The entire concept of cooking your meat to your preference right at your table on super hot stones is both entertaining and very satisfying. It is a very popular place and the energy level of the clientele when full does make it a bit noisy and a little difficult to carry on conversation, but not impossible. Overall, a truly wonderful experience and if you are looking for an outstanding dining experience in Central Dublin, this is the place.

Service was spotty and they knew they knew it Our drinks were comped. Portions were large and the food was good, not great. The cooking-on-a-stone process seemed very gimmicky and just made our table crowded and hot.

Great setting and beautiful decor. Greeted warmly as soon as arrived. Attentive staff who couldn't do enough. Orders taken and food served in just the right amount of time. Extremely tasty food - amazing starter, steak and sides. Presentation and flavour was exquisite! Would definitely recommend and return.

We were last in Rustic Stone about 5 years ago (we live in the UK) and had enjoyed it so much that we decided to visit again while in Dublin for the weekend with friends. If anything we enjoyed it even more this time! Innovative and fabulous food without feeling pretentious! Nice ambience, good service and friendly staff too.

Extremely overpriced for the experience. Many fine restaurants in Dublin which are better value. Locals appear to have cottoned on to this as diners were mostly tourists. No wow factor here. Pretentious and dull. Staff were friendly and efficient though

Brilliant. All of the dishes were expertly flavored - delicious. I don't typically order dessert but this dessert was so good I was still thinking of it the next morning when I woke up. The bill was very reasonable for a very fancy meal.

We were a party of five celebrating my daughter’s birthday so we had the corner booth which was great. The service was a little slow to start with. It took a while to be asked would we like a drink. Once we ordered food, the service picked up and the food arrived promptly and it was, as always, delicious. In saying that, I think the desserts were a little disappointing. All in all a very enjoyable night

Restaurant was quite squashed. Not much of an atmosphere. Waiter took our food and drinks order at the same time. Food came out within 2 minutes. Waiter mixed up my drink order of a glass of white wine twice. Food was exceptionally tasty and would go back only for that reason.
