Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

This was my first visit and was really excited to experience as heard great reviews. The starter and main course were simply delicious. Lovely wine with great cocktails and good value for money. Look forward to coming back

Horrendous. Nice friendly waiter. Waited for ages, main courses cane out separately and so did sides which were cold. Never again

Really great food. Service was more than friendly...just really slow, hence the 4 Stars instead of 5. Lollipop prawns, polenta fries and chocolate soup were among the favorites.

Quick service lovely food with the difference of cooking your own steak

Unfortunately a very poor experience. Firstly the section we were seated on was not very nice that aside the service was cahotic it took 50 mins for us to be served. The food quality was lack lustre. Given the reputation of the restaurant I was very surprised not to mention disappointed.
The stone, you cook your food on it, seems to be a gimmick as my food was already over cooked on arrival.
Granted it was a busy bank holiday so perhaps a full house is not a good time to visit this restaurant maybe they should revisit their capacity and only take in what the kitchen/service team can support.
It's a shame we walked away quite unsatisfied.

Truffle chips to die for. You cook your own steak on a stone. For us this was fun but wouldn't be interested in doing it all the time. Would like to try other parts of the menu though. Steaks were good but I've had a lot better from my own butcher!!

Really disappointed with quality of food. Both myself and my wife had different mains and we were seriously underwhelmed. Won't be back

Arrived just before 8 pm for our booking on a Saturday night. Ordered shortly after and starters, which in fairness were very good, arrived in good time. However it all went downhill from there, we were then left waiting, along with the two tables next to us, for about 80 mins (9.40pm) before our mains finally arrived. Having sat at 8pm this was a ridiculous amount of time to be left waiting, it was not a big group either, just two of us. Nobody came over to explain the delay up until just before food eventually arrived, and then they basically just blamed the kitchen. When the food did arrive we found it just...bland! My wife had a pasta dish which was nothing special. I had the 12oz sirloin which again I could only describe as ok, nothing special. Furthermore it cost €36, this for a steak on the stone which did not include any sides apart from the relish and sauce. Once we'd finished we decided against any dessert as the whole experience had been so disappointing. On leaving we stated our disappointment and the waiter apologised but it seemed half hearted, again just blamed the kitchen and there was no offer of goodwill complimentary drink/dessert or discount which may have been a nice gesture. We were not the only ones either as there was also a table of roughly 8 beside us who were complaining to the manager for a long period of time. Very very disappointing, expected much more. Won't recommend and won't be back.

My favourite restaurant. Service and food top notch. Lovely surprise dessert for our anniversary was the icing on the cake (pardon the pun!)!

This was my first time that I visited the Rustic Stone. The first impression in the entrance / reception was very good, professional. The waiters were patient and the food was delicious. The management can be proud that have a employee like Alexandra. I am sure that I will visit the place again. Thank you again!

Mind-blowingly great.
This place is so good it is worth a plane ticket.
But not a RyanAir plane ticket (avoid!).
The little cucumber broth dish had diverse textures and complementary flavors, while being the perfect beginning to a full dinner. We stayed for 2 hours and chose many small plates that complemented the one course we ordered (an excellent braised beef with creamy truffle tagliatelle that was tender and juicy).

The Rustic Stone was without a doubt the best restaurant we went to in Dublin. The staff was so kind and very attentive, and the food was amazing. You helped make our honeymoon even more magical. Thank you so much!

Unfortunately I found the menu limited - having eaten there many years ago I felt it was more tourism driven - lack of fish alternatives - the starters were fantastic- the topping on the rolls Royce sirloin was overpowering- the dips which were always my favourite in the past with the breads were mediocre & the bread was basic. Apart from the fact that there was no knife & fork provided even after asking for one - service was good

Amazing bar upstairs. Restaurant is a cook your own steak on a hot plate. Tables are too small to have a plate and hot plate so you end up eating with you dinner plate on the side, it’s expensive so I would like to see them think about the experience more. With some small changes could be a great place all round.

Food was ok. It didn't say that the starter of prawns was to be cooked on a stone – I don't think I'd have ordered them if I'd have known. Steaks were nice, but side of polenta fries was swimming in some sort of mayo, which was not advised on the menu and meant I wouldn't eat them. Service wasn't great – we were ignored for a very long time before our order was taken, and again when we finished our mains. The price was quite high for the quality of food and service. I wouldn't return.

Food was great! Service was a little slow and messed up the starter order so a friend was waiting for his as we all had ours. Main courses arrived and we had to ask for forks.

Had been here before a few times and loved it. This time service was poor, we were waiting quite a while for our food, water wasn’t replenished as it should have been, glasses weren’t cleared from the table even though they weren’t being used. Just didn’t feel as good as it was before and the food was average but nothing wrong with it

Was back in Dunlin to visit friends with family. We were 6 in all. We were seated downstairs at first, but the room didn't give visitors the Dublin experience I was looking for. I asked Liam, the Maitre d', if he could move us. He worked some magic and set us up outside, which was what we wanted. He was our waiter for the night. Food was creative, delicious, and reasonable. I would strongly recommend the Rustic Stone. Make a reservation in advance and ask for ground floor (not basement) or outside. Thanks for a memorable night, Liam!

While the food was excellent , we found our main pasta meals were only warm and had been left awhile for the waiting staff to bring to our table, we were celebrating my husbands birthday and had a party of 5
we all agreed that it was a shame but hopefully just a once off and we would go back again
The Bonsai bar upstairs had a great selection of drinks and the staff very attentive.

Very fun and interesting concept with the hot stones to cook or warm the meal to personal likes. I rarely write reviews, but the time spent here was well worth it. The meals were creative and enjoyable. They were not trying to reinvent the wheel, just put and spin in it, and they succeeded.
