Dublin’s Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath restaurant has a very simple philosophy – the best seasonal ingredients, the simplest of techniques, the most flavour. The real difference at this intriguing restaurant is its truly healthy approach to dining. Though indulgent and mouth-wateringly delicious, Rustic Stone’s menu is based around healthy, life-affirming food, good for the body and good for the soul. McGrath, a Michelin starred chef (at previous venture Mint) and Masterchef presenter but also the man behind the concept and in the kitchen, minimizes the use of sugar and cream, bans the fake and flavourless and produces a menu 90% gluten free, 90% wheat free and 70% dairy free – quite an achievement even before you taste the delectable results of his efforts. The level of detail on the Rustic Stone menu provides everything you need to make an informed dining decision and without busting the bank either.

Second time here. Very nice food and the atmosphere was nice. Not sure if the drinks order was forgotten as we had to remind the waiter for it as we all got our starters and nearly finished before we got our drinks. My rib eye was really good and the only down side with the mains was the pork pappardelle was very sweet but its our opinion.
With the desserts one of the desserts was forgotten but thank you for bringing out a brownie for my brother for his birthday which was a really nice touch.

We will be back again, food was lovely 😊

Was disappointed, had been here before, brought some friends to what was my favorite restaurant.

On arrival we went to the bar as we were early, we were asked if we had vouchers, we didn't know about vouchers. We were told not to worry you get a free cocktail with the vouchers "I wll speak to my manager for you", that was the last we heard of the cocktails and the menus were removed from our table.

Service wasn't great, was slow and some of the order was missing. I shared a chicken wing starter with one of my friends, I asked if they had wipes or water and lemon, they brought water and lemon for me to clean my fingers, none for my friend who had the sharing starter with me, the water was boiling as it had just come out of a kettle.

We waited with our dessert menus forever before our order was taken, I think our waiter must have gone off shift.

We had a drink in the bar upstair after, but my friend had returned a cocktail twice as it wasn't that good.

After paying over €200 for dinner for 3 people, we found out you can get a voucher for a 3 Course Dinner with a Bottle of Wine Plus 2 Cocktails for Two People at Rustic Stone for only €50. Which was the voucher we were asked about in the bar on arrival.

We liked the atmosphere of this place, the waitress was very friendly and enthusiastic which we enjoyed.
However food was not anything more than ordinary. There is plenty of restaurants in Dublin that do steaks of the same quality for much better value. We were also disappointed by the noise. Tables are so close together that you can clearly hear what people next to you are talking about, plus the background music was too loud and disturbing.
All in all it wasn't a bad experience but we left the restaurant disappointed.

Food and service very good. We sat downstairs and it was quite noisy so more suited to bigger groups but atmosphere was good. Wine very expensive. Paying €35 for a steak that you cook yourself seems like madness but worth it for the novelty factor if you haven’t done it before as you can try some medium, some a bit rarer etc. Probably wouldn’t do it a second time. Bar upstairs is great for a cocktail before or after. I liked that the waiter recommended we pop up for one afterwards as otherwise we wouldn’t have known about it and it was well worth a visit.

I had an excellent experience recently at Rustic Stone. I was looking for somewhere nice in Dublin to cater well for my friend who is vegetarian and was visiting Ireland for the first time from the US. We both had a great range of choice on the menu to cater for differing tastes and dietary requirements. I had the tuna which I could cook to my own taste on a hot stone. It was a great experience and delicious. My friend was delighted with the range of dishes that suited her needs and we shared gorgeous olives, breads and dips before she opted for soup and pasta. The vibe in the restaurant was buzzing but we were still able to catch up properly without any difficulty hearing each other. I would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending Rustic Stone.

We went on 06th of April for my Girlfriends Birthday. They really pulled out all of the stops along with a birthday desert. There was a young sandy haired server who had serviced our table. I think he may have been a new employee but his service was second to none. He had made the experience all that better.

We enjoyed our dinner at the Rustic Stone. The side dish for two meals were late. We only suspect that it was not added initially as all food came at the same time. With this minor glitch, this is a very nice place and highly recommended.

I am a big fan of Fade street so I guess I had high expectations for Rustic Stone but unfortunately it didn't really deliver on taste, despite being good value overall. Menu options were limited on a voucher so opted for a bread and "dips" starter which came on a massive tray with lots of bread, 2 bread sticks with a minuscule amount of ham on them, and 2 tiny bowls with some kind of an unidentifiable mousse. A typical case of style over substance unfortunately. Side dishes were good but my Glamburger wasn't great, the quality of the meat just not living up to standard which was very much in contrast with the steak on the stone that my partner had, which was really good. With only two choices of desserts, one being fruit, the highlight of the meal was the cocktail afterwards which we enjoyed in the bar upstairs. Good value, yes. Great food, not so much.

Rustic stone was over priced, especially if you have to cook your own steak.. there should be an option on the menu for a cooked steak of your choice also.

Arrived before 8pm but table not ready. Directed to bar upstairs. Drinks menu different to that served downstairs. No choice of non-alcoholic drinks other than soft drinks & one beer option. Spirits over priced. Locations of restrooms down steepstairwell but special needs toilet could be accessed within a tight space close to staff base only by calling a staff member. Choice of starters restricted. Main course selection reasonable as were desserts. Noise level from nearby table loud but disn’t prevent us from enjoying the meal and having fun. Service was efficient but staff didn’t engage with customers much. We enjoyed the experience of cooking our own steak on the stone and would go back for that experience alone. You pay for the experience.

Food was nice but having to cook the steak
at the table yourself is actually not the treat the owner apparently thinks it is. I cook at home every day. Also it was overpriced. And a main course should come with at least ONE side. Food was very tasty though

I love the way i have to cook my steak on the stone with the way i want it. So far, my experience in the rustic stone has been very good to my satisfaction.

Steak came out and was 90% fat, we both ate a small portion and then had to order a pasta dish between us, forgot our drinks and cutlery and we had to ask twice. Bill came to 145 for the two of us, terrible value for money would not recommend to anyone

I should have checked the bill - I was charged for tea/coffee which I did not have and for the still water on the table. You can write this off as petty but it is sneaky and poor business. It leaves a sour taste and I won't bother coming back.
