My parents, Cuban exiles, raised me and my siblings in Miami on Cuban bread, black beans and fried plantains. Along with classic Cuban comfort food like arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) and picadillo (ground beef with tomatoes, vegetables and green olives), we also enjoyed creative dinners like Kentucky Fried Chicken paired with pork fried rice.

I left Miami to seek new experiences and eventually landed in Nashville, TN, the city I’ve called home for nearly 20 years. I may be far from palm trees, pastelitos y cafecitos (Cuban pastries and coffee), but I’ve never lost my passion for my culture, especially the food. It’s time to reconnect with my roots and I’m excited to share the flavors of my upbringing with my community, whether it be through Cuban sandwiches, like my dad’s famous pan con lechón (roasted pork sandwich) or twists on Latin cuisine.

I’m proud to say, Soy Cubano.

Back in Brooklyn, they began experimenting with organic flour, aged cheeses, fresh tomatoes, and combinations like truffle/mushrooms or pesto/Calabrian chilies, perfecting that crave-worthy cheese crust. This was my wife and I's first experience at Cafe Roze. We were beyond glad that we decided to try it out last minute. Our entire experience from the moment we walked in the door will have us coming back. We were greeted with kindness, the food was impeccable, the service was first class (while not overbearing), and did I mention the food! Every course was so fantastic we could not stop ordering more! It felt like we were special guests at family dinner, a chef's kiss! Thank you for the experience can't wait to see you again soon!

My husband and I visited Blue Sushi & Sake Grill last night before heading to the Weezer concert downtown, and it was the perfect start to our evening! The food was fantastic, and Sarah and Leo both deserve a special shout-out for making our experience so memorable. Sarah’s warm hospitality and attention to detail really stood out, and Leo provided exceptional service throughout our meal. Celiac, allergen, and toddler approved! We took the whole family and there was something for everyone. Staff were friendly and efficient, even brought out the toddler food in advance so we were able to enjoy our meal. Highly recommend!
