The hostess was amazing. It was family feud night and she made it clear how noisy it would be in the regular seating area and suggested we sit in the bar area instead which was perfect. The bartender was friendly and the food and drinks were really good. Wouldn’t expect anything else from these guys!

Bread & Friends is a bakery and restaurant serving brunch and dinner. During the day, we specialize in naturally leavened breads, artisan pastries, house-milled flour, and elevated sharing plates for brunch (walk-ins only), complemented by a coffee program featuring Enjoy Coffee Roasters.

At night, sharing plates like handmade pastas and an emphasis on wood-fired cooking take center stage (reservations and walk-ins welcome). We offer a natural wine focused beverage list, as well as beer and aperitivi/amari (no liquor).

Brunch at Bread & Friends is first come, first served - we do not take reservations. At dinner we accept reservations up to 60 days in advance, as well as walk-ins when available. We are located in the Old Port neighborhood of downtown Portland, ME, in close proximity to the Cross Insurance Area. Let's eat, together!

Delicious flavors - there was no menu item we didn’t like! The octopus and the lamb were phenomenal. The cabbage was very good even for someone who doesn’t like cabbage. And the main dishes of pork and duck were tasty as well. No complaints and I’m so glad we finally got in to dine for dinner here.

I'm a lover of two things, archaic language and travel. A couple of years ago I stumbled upon a word that really embodied for me both of my loves. Coddiwomple.

Coddiwomple: To travel purposely towards an unknown destination.

The Irish are known for their willingness to rove and ramble seemed like a natural fit hence Rambler was born. A neighborhood destination filled with hospitality and hearty comforting food & drink. We're so looking forward to our journey together.

We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks and food. We ordered the Dublin Prawns, a side of mac 'n cheese, Guinness Meatballs and a side of Cauliflower Gratin. The food was so, very good! Rick (bartender) was fun, attentive and helpful with the wine selection. The "Tidepool" was a tasty drink and one I would get again. Will be back to try other dishes and other drinks soon.
