Franciska is a wine bar dedicated to Argentine Bodegón cuisine, a culinary tradition deeply rooted in Spanish and Italian influences brought by immigrants to Buenos Aires at the turn of the century. In our intimate 20-seat space in Portland’s Old Port, we bring people together over thoughtfully crafted dishes made with New England-sourced ingredients and house-made specialties.

Please note: Table reservations are for guests joining us for dinner at Franciska. For wine tastings or drinks only, our bar is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your reservation, or no-shows, will incur a charge of $25 per person. Thank you for understanding and supporting our small restaurant.

This was my 3rd visit since July and once again it was wonderful. I love the seasonal menu changes, which included a burrata with mushrooms, duck rilette, and a pasta with squash and kale pesto. We also ordered the steak and patatas bravas which were so good. I only gave 4 stars for service instead of 5 as they run a very small operation and the servers are tasked with many duties, so it took a while to get our cocktails and the bottle of wine we ordered. So, it's important to be patient and recognize how hard the servers (and cooks behind the scenes) are working and that it's a small inconvenience when everything is so amazing.

Located in Portland's Old Port District, Fore Street opened in June, 1996. The interior surrounds a unique brick and soapstone hearth with a wood-burning oven, grill and turnspit; visible from most tables. We believe that good food travels the shortest possible distance between the farm and the table. Our menu changes every day and is founded upon the very best raw materials from a community of Maine farmers, fisherman, foragers and cheese makers. Most of the Maine foods are organically grown or harvested wild, each brought to us at the peak of its season. In 2002 and again in 2007, Fore Street was named by Gourmet Magazine as one of the Top Fifty Restaurants in the United States. In 2004, Chef-Partner Sam Hayward was named Best Chef: Northeast by the James Beard Foundation.

Magnus on Water is a cocktail bar and restaurant in Biddeford, Maine, where Peruvian-inspired comfort food from Chef Rafael Zimmerman meets an award-winning beverage program led by Creative Director Brian "Cat" Catapang. Our bar program has earned national and global press and holds two Pinnacle Guide pins (Outstanding), the bar world's Michelin stars. Fewer than 100 bars worldwide hold a pin. The restaurant was also a 2022 James Beard Semifinalist for Best Chef: Northeast.

Our menu and drinks change with the seasons, built around Maine's farmers, foragers, and fishermen. The space is polished yet intimate, a place to linger over beautiful food, conversation, and cocktails. In warmer months, our garden patio with fire pits extends that spirit outdoors. Magnus also offers a private dining room and full or partial event rentals.

Come taste Chef Raffi's cooking before he moves on at the end of October. After that, the cuisine at Magnus takes on a totally new look.

We celebrated a 30th anniversary in Biddeford and were not disappointed in our selection for dinner! From the cocktails, wine and each dish ordered- we were so pleased. It will be hard not to compare freshness, use of ingredients and flavors the next time we are out for dinner somewhere. Looking forward to a return visit!

Bread & Friends is a bakery and restaurant serving brunch and dinner. During the day, we specialize in naturally leavened breads, artisan pastries, house-milled flour, and elevated sharing plates for brunch (walk-ins only), complemented by a coffee program featuring Enjoy Coffee Roasters.

At night, sharing plates like handmade pastas and an emphasis on wood-fired cooking take center stage (reservations and walk-ins welcome). We offer a natural wine focused beverage list, as well as beer and aperitivi/amari (no liquor).

Brunch at Bread & Friends is first come, first served - we do not take reservations. At dinner we accept reservations up to 60 days in advance, as well as walk-ins when available. Delicious flavors - there was no menu item we didn’t like! The octopus and the lamb were phenomenal. The cabbage was very good even for someone who doesn’t like cabbage. And the main dishes of pork and duck were tasty as well. No complaints and I’m so glad we finally got in to dine for dinner here.

Our chefs focus on serving the freshest seafood and the best ingredients available from local purveyors, fishermen and organic farmers. They prepare a simple yet creative menu that highlights the ingredients.
Our personalized wine list truly complements the cuisine, and we offer a classic full bar. We serve our full menu at the bar itself and feature a raw bar with a variety of local oysters. The bar is available to book the majority of the year but only available thru walk in for July/August. Our comfortable lounge is great place to get together for drinks and appetizers or to enjoy while waiting for a table.
Al fresco dining is available thru walk-in only from Memorial Day through mid-October, depending on weather. We book the majority of the dining room but reserve a few tables for walk in as well.

We currently offer in-house dining Tuesday through Sunday from 4:30-9:30pm (last seating at 9:00pm other than Friday and Saturday).

Our restaurant features Paolo Laboa, international chef from Genova, Italy. His menu consists of simple, flavorful and authentic Northern Italian cuisine. This includes handmade pasta, crudo (raw fish), fresh pizza and an all-Italian wine list. Ingredients are sourced locally, from various Maine farms and from the Gulf of Maine, whenever possible.
