From pre-dinner cocktails in the Oval office through to putting our coats on to leave at the end of the evening the experience at Shanahans was luxurious. The staff are friendly, helpful and unintrusive and the food was wonderful.
An evening in Shanahans is something everyone should enjoy at least one.
We booked a special meal to celebrate our anniversary and really enjoyed it
Lovely restaurant, amazing food and friendly staff
Would visit again!
Shanahan’s is a favorite place for dining for my Irish ☘️ brother in law Tom and he introduced me many years ago to the Oval Office and then the fine dining. Well my sweetheart Irene and I arrived for our reservation time and we were seated at a nice table and our waiter Ben came to introduce himself and brought us our drinks 🍷 and we reviewed the menu listings and told Ben our dinner choices and we then enjoyed our relaxing time talking and after a pleasant and enjoyable time our dinner was served by Ben and another waiter who’s name was Paul. All the foods were cooked to perfection and everything was hot and placed before us in a very appealing way. We ate our very tasty and tender dinner and were asked if all was satisfactory to us by our waiter Ben. It was another very very enjoyable evening as I expected having been there many times over the years as I have always lodged a short walk at the wonderful FitzWilliams Hotel. I’m going to be returning from Massachusetts in the spring and we are planning to have our friends join with us for another fine dinner at Shanahan’s again. All of the Shanahan’s staff is very friendly.
My Regards. AlfredB
Disappointing - steaks did not live up to the billing.
We were given a table near some diners with loud, out of control children. The restaurant moved our table and apologized noting Ireland’s civil rights rules would not permit denial of service. I was amazed that a restaurant of this quality would admit babies under 6 months and parties with several children. Sadly, these diners were American!
Never disappoints though was surprised they only serve Oysters Rockefeller and not raw. This is Ireland, a place of this calibre should have normal Oysters. Other than that, food excellent. Some great wines by the glass using Coravin which is pretty cool. €27 for a 2003 Leoville Barton is not bad all things considered.
Birthday dinner nicely celebrated.
My second visit to Shanahan’s...it was even better than I remembered it was from 10 years ago.
From the expertly made cocktails, the magnificent salmon appetizer, the perfectly cooked filet mignon and rump of lamb roast....so incredibly delicious and a wonderful experience for my friends that I took on their first visit to Ireland...a wonderful first impression. It’s still pretty pricey but it was worth it. Also, excellent and friendly service.
Lovely place to attend for our anniversary! Would recommend to everyone visiting London. It isn’t for someone on a budget but perfect for a special occasion
Unreal steak and fantastic service! A wonderful treat
Beautiful food and brilliant staff. Thank you for making this birthday meal so special.
We really enjoyed our meal at Shanahans, and booking it through Open Table was very convenient and reliable.
Lovely restaurant, fantastic ambience and beautiful food. Great service too, would highly recommend!
The ambience, food and service was elegant. A wonderful experience on our first visit to Dublin!
Excellent food, remarkable service.. the bread alone (from the pastry chef made in house) was off the charts! Beautiful tables and chairs and scenery. Very high end, but totally worth every penny. They have a great prefixe option during happy hour for 55€ ..
Albeit the food is to a reasonable standard there is very little chef's work required or involved. The decor is faded, the staff appear remote and the very high unit prices (food and drink) do not offer value for money. There are far better other restaurants available, select one of them.
A fine dining experience, at a healthy price. Choices were many and varied, and food was excellent. Service not as cheerful as i might have expected--professional but distant with an occasional time lapse. A very worthwhile visit and I would come again without hesitation.
Fabulous is the only way to describe it
Whenever we are in Dublin Ireland, which is twice a year, we always make sure we stop into the restaurant once or twice. We love the bar for cocktails and the relaxed atmosphere of the restaurant. Always happy with our choices. Would highly recommend Shannahan's!!
Although Shanahan's offers properly prepared food in an elegant setting, we will never go there again. The blunt announcement on entry that the table must be given back in 2 hours was off-putting even though the desire was reasonable. However, the server's rude suggestion after 2 hours and 3 minutes that it was our fault, rather than his delay, that people were waiting for the table was inexcusable. Florino's communication difficulties only accentuated his innate boorishness. He offered no insight into the menu, and his help with the ridiculously overpriced wine list was limited to verbatim reading of the list aloud. Management seems deluded into thinking it can coast on past reputation and location, but Dublin offers many better choices in every respect.
What stood out for my husband and I was the service. The waiters balanced being very welcoming yet very professional just perfectly. The deal was reasonable €50 pp for 3 courses. It's a good way to try out a restaurant that would normally be out of our price range for a mid week meal. Starters of soup and a Caesar salad were fine. Nothing to rave about. Mains of striploin steaks were perfectly cooked and came with ample delicious sides. Desserts were nice but again like the starters, nothing standout. Drinks were on the expensive side eg €15 for a glass of prosecco seems a little excessive. Overall we really enjoyed the meal and would recommend.
