Having eaten at this restaurant for over 25 years sadly we had a very disappointing experience yesterday. Ordered the signature lobster spaghetti which is usually my favourite restaurant in the world to eat this dish and was more than disappointed. It was swimming in oil, had no sauce other than 4 tomatoes and far too much spaghetti with no flavour and chewy lobster. We are normally served olives , bruschetta and fresh Parmesan on arrival but none of that came. We weren’t asked if we wanted water or a drink when we sat down. We had to request the menus. Everyone around us was complaining about the service (or lack of ). When the table next to us requested their bill the table was not cleared and they paid and left. The food was still on the table when we paid and left. We did complain about the food and one main course was removed from the bill but the manager did not come over to discuss this with us or apologise for the catalogue of disasters. We were told by our waiter there was only a skeleton staff and that was why the whole place was in disaster. Such a shame as we normally love this restaurant

I've been coming to Signor Sassi for over 20 years, and it remains one of London's great classic Italian institutions. The service is always impeccable, and the ambience is exactly what you want from a proper London Italian — warm, timeless, and full of character. I've seen a few reviews calling the food "mediocre," and I couldn't disagree more. This isn't about chasing trends or reinventing anything — there's nothing experimental or contemporary here, and that's the point. It's classic Italian cooking done properly: simple dishes executed to the highest standard. You know a kitchen has real quality when something as straightforward as a spaghetti pomodoro is genuinely fantastic. That's harder to pull off than people think. After two decades of visits, it hasn't put a foot wrong. Highly recommend for anyone who wants Italian food the way it's meant to be — no gimmicks, just done right.

Unfortunate! Saasi somehow overlooked our Open Table booking and were unable to seat us properly. We left and went next door to Nanyang Blossom, which we were unaware of It was one of the best meals this year and we have since returned there.
