Very friendly service. Quiet Monday lunchtime. Roaring fire, very homely. Festive menu - turkey was moist, but trimmings were all over cooked (sprouts, roast potatoes, parsnip and carrot) and on the cool side. Very accommodating staff as we continued to sit over coffee, eventually leaving after nearly four hours.

The best pub roast I have had in a long time. Fabulous roast beef and chicken with all the usual extras, perfectly cooked. I had high expectations, but they were exceeded

Lovely pub, warm and cosy, service was slow- I had pasta which was delicious, asked if I wanted it as a main- I said yes- it came before anyone else’s food and I was charged double for what most definitely felt like a starter portion, no apology or recognition of tiny overpriced portion. My brother had mussels, again he was asked if he wanted this as a main, said yes, it came with the mains but was a tiny portion less than a third of a bowl, charged double, no apologies and a bit of a wrangle to get them to reduce the bill. I would go again for location and niceness of the pub but would suggest greater clarity of pricing on the menu for starter v main courses and to train staff how to deal with issues like these as it can ruin a meal to not have issues resolved skilfully.

It was a quiet Monday lunch, so not many customers & hence a bit quiet. Lovely food, well presented and very good value. Service was excellent and inobtrusive. We'll def go back again soon.
