About STK – Chicago
Chicago, IL 60654
STK artfully blends two concepts into one—the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge. A large central lounge area is furnished with creamy leather banquettes and textured crocodile tiles, and is surrounded by an elevated dining room for more formal dining. Theatrical lights illuminate each table, while a DJ creates an energetic vibe throughout the entire space. STK Chicago is located in the heart of River North and, as anticipated, steak is the main attraction. STK offers small, medium and large cuts of meat, as well as naturally raised options, and even wagyu and Kobe for the decadent dinners. Aside from steak, signature items include Parmesan Truffle Fries; Lil’ BRGs; Sweet Corn Pudding; and Jumbo Lump Crab Salad.

Overall, I enjoy STK. The food is really very very good. Steaks are cooked perfectly. The ambiance and music are great. Location is awesome.
My problem with STK is the service. The service staff doesn't seem to match the rest (food, ambiance, prices, etc). We had a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. We spent over $1,000. We were just hoping for a little more attention. When our waiter walked up, his first words were "what can I get you guys?" as he was restlessly looking around the restaurant. We were a little caught off guard. I guess I was looking more for "Welcome to STK. Is this your first time with us? Let me tell you about our menu"... something! We looked around at each other asking, "Was that our waiter? Or was he just the drinks guy?" The hostesses and waiter seemed disinterested and very passive. The waiter was hard to flag down the entire night. He wasn't rude or anything, I just felt like the service was what I would expect at a college bar during happy hour. Perhaps he just had too many tables.
So the food and ambiance are awesome, but don't expect much on the service.

Prior to booking the reservation I requested a booth. When I got there the hostess and manager made us wait and when I asked about it they made it seem as if they wanted to hold off on seating me in case a bigger group came in. The server was cool, the food was cool. The ambiance was nice. I just didn't like having to wait for a table that I had reserved hours in advance.

Love it here. Food is delicious and the service is always very friendly. Tries a dozen oyster. Tuna tartare, Brussels sprout salad, lamb chops and King crab with risotto. Everything was delicious. Will be back soon.

I would have never known better to step inside this unassuming restaurant for an evening of wonderment, but very please for having done so. From the DJ music, atmosphere, quality of food and service, STK has earned itself name as one of the best steakhouses in Chicago. The house was bangin' with the most upbeat oldies, dance and latest pop music-I couldn't help but dance in my seat.
Let's get on with the food, shall we?
(1) Blue Cheese Monkey Bread. As complimentary bread, this sucker was piled up with melted blue cheese and chive oil. Very fragrant. Tried not to get full off just this.
(2) Foie gras. Very generous size of foie gras paired with crumble and mini pancakes.
(3) Hokkaido Scallop Carpaccio. The scallops are served thinly sliced and submerged into a bath of citrus yuzu and truffle oil suspension. Perhaps this dish would have been pushed to stellar marks had the scallops been cooked to a firmer bite.
(4) Bone-in Ribeye Steak 20 oz. Prepared medium rare, pepper crusted and with a side of au poivre. Now this brings me life. Wow, I wouldn't believe the succulence and tenderness of a piece of quality ribeye steak until STK.
(5) Warm Baked Cookie. Nothing puts a warm big ol' smile on my face than comforting desserts. Warm baked cookie piled with chocolate sauce, caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

For a $230 plus tip dinner (for two), you can eat far far better food in a far far better ambience. This place is all about the scene, if you live for it, eat here. If you don't, go to Boka.

Came here for New Years. The steak was cooked incorrectly twice after sending it back, and the server charged us for an extra steak. I have dined at many places in Chicago as a regular foodie and this was the absolute worse experience I have ever had.

Dinner was fantastic. Great vibe, steak was perfect, scallop appetizer was top notch, drinks were also well crafted. Perfect environment for a new years eve dinner or any special occasion.

My boyfriend and I chose STK for NYE. I have wanted to come here for a long time because I heard the food was amazing and that it would be a fun place for NYE because of the ambiance. So it started out fine, the hostess was very friendly and took us to our table. It started going down hill from there. Now, I wanted to wait to write a review because I was pretty heated and wanted to calm down before writing this. Our server Elizabeth, started out by offering Fiji or sparkling water. My boyfriend asked what the price was, and we opted for just regular tap water. Elzabeth's response was "don't worry your alcohol will kill the bacteria from the water.' WHO SAYS THAT???? Then I wanted to surprise my boyfriend with a glass a champagne to start since we just bought our first house, and I wanted to toast. So I got our server without my boyfriend knowing and her response was "oh he won't splurge on you?" Again WHO SAYS THAT? My boyfriend is not cheap, I just wanted to do something nice for him. When it came time to order she really pushed us to order more than what we wanted. When dinner came out I wanted to see the wine list, she was like, I know the wines I can just tell you what the are. She lists a Cab, a Pinot Noir and a Merlot. Ok, but I asked to see the wine list, I don't want you to tell me the 3 basic wines that you have. Where are they from? What is the price? I know wine. So I was not amused. We like to wine and dine. Cocktails to start with an appetizer, then get entrees, paired with wine, dessert with an after dinner drink and coffee. But since we felt like we were talking to a used car salesman, we got the bare minimum and left. We won't be back, but I would recommend it to others for the food.

So loud you almost have to shout at your dinner companion. Two drinks, two appetizers and 2 salads were 130 inc tip. Not worth the price at all, but pre-dinner drinks maybe. Service was competent and friendly.

It was so delicious!! Our server was attentive and very excellent. We each had a speciality cocktail, followed by this amazing monkey-bread type of warm bread served in a cast iron pan. We then split a Brussels sprout salad which my skeptical boyfriend wanted to lick the plate afterwards. Our steaks were perfectly prepared and our Mac and cheese side is worth it's weight in cheesey gold. It's a little off the normal path but inside the atmosphere is elegant and whimsical!! Definitely worth going again and again!

Ambiance was the best part of the meal. ...
Ambiance was the best part of the meal. We arrived to celebrate a b-day as well as informed our server we were trying to make a performance. We gave ourselves almost a full 2 hours to dine. Our Server wasn't friendly (quite cold) and seemed uninterested. It seemed as though he was upset only one person ordered an alcoholic beverage. We ordered the scallop and grilled octopus apps. Server said both were too small to share, although the scallops were just 2, the grilled octopus was plenty to share (remember, these are just apps, not a full dinner). 3 of us all ordered the 10 oz Filet and 1 ordered the bone-in filet. 3 ordered their steaks Med-Rare with all 3 steaks coming out different temperatures with 1 steak at almost a medium to medium well. That steak was dry, tasteless and needed a sauce to give it any moisture and taste. The 4th steak was asked to be prepared medium well and arrived extremely well done. We did not send any of our food back as we were trying to make a show and dinner seemed to take an outrageous time to eat. We did not attempt to order dessert as time ran out. I would not recommend dining here if you're in a hurry or at least give yourself 3-4 hours just for dinner plus, I would suggest ordering anything but the steaks.

I went to STK to celebrate my wife's birthday. The ambiance at the restaurant is always great. The live DJ really gives the spot some life. We had a party of 9 and spent close to $1300. I ordered the porterhouse ($98) well done and the steak was extremely tough and dry. I've ordered my steak well done at other local steakhouses and the meat was tender and juicy. In addition I found the steak lacking flavor. For some reason the wait staff cut my steak into pieces for me. I didn't ask for this service. Finally I'm not a fan of the house steak sauce - it's a little too sweet for me. I understand promoting your own brand but when a customer is spending $69 plus for a steak there should be other options. When the waiter came to the table towards the end of the night he noticed that I barely ate my steak. I mentioned that I didn't like it but I was still charged for it. I didn't make a deal out of it because it was a festive occasion. Outside of drinks not sure if I'll go back to eat.

We went for my boyfriend's bday dinner. Service was really good and food was delicious! The host was nice but a little clumsy, immediately remedied by giving us a free glass of champagne. It was a Wednesday night so it wasn't really busy. My boyfriend got his bday candle with the dessert we ordered. Steaks were cooked to our expectation. The apps and sides were on the small side so there were no leftovers. Overall it was a pretty good experience.

First off place was really nice but it wasn't very noticeable that it was the restaurant. No big sign or anything. The people were nice and the atmosphere was upbeat. My husband and I personally didn't think the food was all that. I felt like we got attitude every time we asked for something or needed something. The prices are your typical downtown Chicago steakhouse prices but to me wasn't worth it because the taste wasn't all that. I don't really recommend this place. There are so many other steakhouses around there that are so much better!

Went to STK while in Chicago for a business meeting & took a Customer there for dinner. Although the music is very, they were playing great 80-90's music and the ambience was fun. Everything we selected for apps, entree, sides and dessert were amazing and the device was excellent! Would not recommend if you are looking for a quiet meal but if you ate looking for a fun atmosphere with amazing food and service definitely visit STK the next time you are in Chicago!

Our 2nd time here in 2 weeks! We enjoyed every minute - service from Boxton was great and attentive. Food - especially the foie gras - was amazing! Everything was well prepared and cooked perfectly. Best of all was the music! Only this missing was a "real dance floor" where my husband and I would have definitely stayed and enjoyed the rest of the night!

Overall great food & atmosphere... Love the live Dj & service... Excellent drinks... A great place to go out on a date, special occasion, birthday etc... Not a bad place to go hang out & watch a game also being that they have multiple bars... Menu can get pricy but well worth it!

Service was excellent. Jeremy was top-notch. Food took a very long time to come out, but Jeremy stayed on top of it, constantly checking in and offered complimentary app and dessert which was very nice. Was disappointed it took so long for food at a 3-top to come out, on a Wednesday night.

food was great. All had steak and they were prepared perfectly. Was pricey. Be careful when getting the bill that gratuity isn't already included. We had 6 people and bill already put on 20%. waitress said nothing and I tipped another 20%. Trying to get that back. If you want to be able to have a quiet conversation, this ISN'T the place. Loud DJ music all night
