STK - London Ratings and Reviews
Went there for my friends birthday and they made it a very good experience ! Brought out a candle in a pudding was very good !! Little bit pricey for what it is but overall amazing experience and service was slow for drinks but fast for food. I really reconnect the bbq chicken !
Pretty horrific experience.
We arrived and were placed in between 2 speakers that literally bellowed music into our eardrums all evening. Me and my friends couldn't hear each other speak! When we asked whether the music could be toned down slightly or the speakers moved in a different direction, we were told that they receive complaints about the noise level all the time but that there is noting they could do to change it.
Although annoying, the noise level wasn't actually the worst thing about this place - our drinks and food took an AGE to come. Each time we ordered drinks we had to chase them up as they took so long to come out. We ordered short ribs, fish and lamb chops as mains. Every single one our dishes were luke warm at best. The sides were nice and hot but whats the point if your main dish isn't?!?!
The waiting staff were friendly enough but so hard to get hold of. Our waiter kept disappearing on us - we felt like it was an inconvenience to order drinks / desserts. We also heard the table on the other side of us complaining about the wait time for food.
Thoroughly disappointed and won't be returning or recommending it to anyone I know.
Spoilt what should have been a great night - been here once before 3 years ago and decided to go back for our 25th year together - food cold, sent back, come back still cool, one meal missing, turned up- not to the standard expected for the prices, i asked for reductions to bill and was promised free drinks, had to ask for those to be taken off bill too. Too busy, and not enough attention to detail -floor manager sorted what he could, but I'd sorted and arranged this night ages in advance and traveled a distance with overnight stay only to still feel massively let down and disappointed by our visit, gutted is an understatement.
STK was great.
The gentalmen who took our order of drinks and meal was amazing. Full of life. Great recommendation food. So hat's off to him. I don't know his name so sorry for that.
The place was amazing. The only down side was the girl who stands behind the reception desk was a proper moody one. Gave my girlfriend zero attention when she was in need of assistance.
Food did not meet expectations- below average for Steak in London. 1/4 of my steak was inedible and actually caused me to choke.
The service from the front of house team was very poor and unwelcoming. The table service was better but falls short of what most Londoners are used to.
Overpriced for what it was. Was marked as a no show and had to argue for this to be reinstated with no apology. Left feeling very let down.
We were seated 30 mins after arrival, and upon arrival we were completely ignored by the host, she even lacked the hospitality to do eye contact with any of us while walking in. When we went back and explained to her and that we have booked a table and we had already been waiting for 30+ minutes the host started talking about the restaurant policy, which once again she failed to explain to us. Had she been a good host, she would have had the courtesy to explain this to up upon arrival. The service once we were seated out our table was great and was able to compensate for the terrible service we had received prior to that.
I have visited STK a few years ago and had such a lovely time I wanted to head back to celebrate my birthday. I booked a table for 9.30 and we didn't get seated until 10pm for dinner. Although the waiter was very pleasant the service was a bit slow and my steak was very fatty and full of gristle. The atmosphere was great but I was disappointed with the overall experience after my first visit being so good.
Went here for a good steak. The decor was attractive and the ambiance pulsed with energy from pretty loud music and young patrons having a great time. The menu provides some less expensive appetizers such as sliders from which you can make a meal and then ranges up to fairly expensive steaks. So, many might like this restaurant but I had two major disappointments. First, my New York cut of steak (done as requested) was flavorless and very tough. Further, about 20% of it was gristle that could not be cut with even a steak knife. Secondly, my by the glass pour of wine at 20 pounds per glass was about 3 ounces of liquid. When I asked the server about the small pour he said that the special high end wines had smaller pours than the regular wines (this was not stated on the menu). Consequently, I paid about 60 pounds for 3 glasses that together amounted to a decent pour. Had I known, a better way to go would have been a half bottle or full bottle of the same or a similar wine. In sum, a good place for partyers who do not drink premium wines by the glass and who do not order steaks.
Although the food is tasty- it is slightly overpriced for what is on offer. Other steakhouses in London offer a much better choice and service.
Most notably however is the abrupt and quite rude behaviour of door staff. We asked for our table to be pushed back 10 mins - and were denied this. They wouldn't sit us till all the party had arrived- which in London is difficult enough to coordinate!- made us stand at the bar and were just generally unaccomadating which is quite ridiculous for a party of 5 that spent more than 100 pp. Furthermore, it makes an awkward venue for groups and business events therefore if you have to wait standing around!!!
For this reason the experience we had was 2 star. A shame!
I went to this restaurant for the first time to scout out a new spot to take business clients. However, they sat us to our table 30 mins late with no care or apology and when I promoted staff they were rather rude and uncaring. Luckily the food and waiter at the table salvaged the night. It's a shame that not only will I not be returning due to this unorganised mess, I won't be bringing any future business events.
From the moment my steak hit the table my eyes widened and my mouth began to drool, to my utmost delight the steak was perfect and juicy I can honestly say it's some of the best food I've had, even the bread that came out just before our meal was incredible, would most certainly return.
