Although we enjoyed the food we had at Talk of the Town, we will not be returning. I used to go to an Indian restaurant called Ashoka located at this same site many years ago. It was a BYO so I assumed that this restaurant would also be BYO. We enjoyed dining at Ashoka two or three times each month and also enjoy having wine with our lunch or dinner. However, when I asked if we could have the wine that we brought with us, the manager went on to explain the reasons why he did not permit this...none of them made any sense whatsoever.

First he told us that a permit is required [this is not true] and when I suggested to him that he just get one, he said that he did not want the customers lingering in the restaurant while they finished their wine! I never saw this happen at Ashoka and I never saw this happen at any of the other many BYO restaurants in this area. A few years ago I did go to a BYO Indian restaurant that had recently changed hands. When I asked about having wine the manager said NO because it violated his religious beliefs. Period...end of story. I suspect this may be the same reason why this restaurant does not allow wine and I would have appreciated that simple answer much more than his beating around the bush.

In case the owner reads these reviews, here is some info that I got at the NJ.gov faq page: http://www.nj.gov/oag/abc/faqs.html#4 BYO rules are explained in #4.

We had a meeting in Iseiin and didn't know where to go and went to Open Table. When we saw the restarent that looked like a diner we almost diidn't go in. So happy we diid! the owner came over right away to translate the menu and give us suggestions. The food was delicious! And for our first time we got a 15% discount. Great vegetarian Indian food! if in town, this is a must try
