The Dungeon at Ashford Castle
The Irish Wagyu ribeye steak was very poor. Tesco finest ribeye steak is a far superior product.
The creamed spinach was bitter and stalky and the chips were a poor quality oven chip.
Really not a good meal. Very very Dissatisfied and disappointed.
Amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone
A very nice and unique setting for a meal. Ashford Castle is an amazing place.
Service is second to none
Ashford Castle is an experience and lives up to even the loftiest expectations. We went horse back riding followed by dinner but we had a 2 hour gap between the 2. They allowed us to lounge at the bar (a separate room with its own fireplace and leather club chairs) while dinner time rolled around. Allow is the appropriate word. This is an exclusive hotel, very protective of its guests privacy and comfort. Although you can enjoy all the activities offered on the property of the castle (at a cost), access to the hotel and its immediate grounds is only if you are a registered guest or have an advance reservation at one of its restaurants. Your name is checked against reservations before you are allowed over the threshold. Even with all that and knowing the scrutiny, I am happy to abide by the rules to experience something so steeped in tradition and history. And to top it all off, the food was excellent, the offerings varied and tasty. The service was on par with any of the best restaurants in NYC without a snooty attitude anywhere. This is there more casual restaurant but I don't think I could have enjoyed the formal one more. It's my second time at the castle, my first time dining but it is not my last time visiting. I am already planning my trip for next year. A new family tradition :)
Best restaurant in the castle
Excellent service in this small restaurant... food was very good.
lovely setting, relaxed despite the grandeur of the hotel, fantastic food and service, would definitely eat here again were the opportunity to arise
Great Atmosphere! Everything at Ashford Castle is top notch! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating! Food is delicious!
Pretty expensive for a basic menu.
Thought main course (Cod) was rather cold.
The matcha gimlet cocktail was excellent. Service was attentive and quick. Food was well-prepared, hot, and tasty.
The Dungeon at Ashford Castle is as nice as it gets! Actually, every little detail at Ashford Castle and the Dungeon is looked after. I had the filet mignon and it was fabulous, my wife had the salmon and again it was over the moon excellent. The service here is as good as it gets, the ambience outstanding and this is a top notch restaurant. Don't miss the if you're in for a treat!
Great setting, great service and amazing food. Highly recommended
The food, staff and service was outstanding. The setting a bit kitsch. i would prefer the decor of the George V dining room.
Mejor imposible
Excellent food and service once again. Great ambiance
Amazing experience at Ashford Castle!! Such a unique setting with delicious food, superb service and ambiance.
Fantastic food. Great service.
Tended to not care for us until they realized we were staying at the hotel. Since I booked through open table and now the hotel.
Not only a lovely dinner but we got to see some of the rooms in the Castle.
The Dungeon restaurant was a real treat! The atmosphere was wonderful, the service was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I requested a special birthday cake and asked the waiters and waitresses to don masks when serving my husband...all which they did in good fun! The food was excellent...we would definitely recommend it!
The castle itself is worth the visit! We took my Mom there and she absolutely loved it! The champagne by the fire before dinner was such a great touch. The service was on point and the food was very good and worth the price.
This restaurant was an exceptional experience. A perfect blend of absolutely delicious food (we had the sea bass) and friendly service.
Food and service were outstanding. We were only disappointed to find out that it was not an actual dungeon. This was not in a dungeon-like lower level of the castle. The server said the restaurant used to be the castle kitchen. :/
From the moment we drove up we knew we were in for a special evening. We were greeted at the door and led to the restaurant. During our meal, at least five people served us in various capacities. Everyone was friendly, gracious, and personable. The food was memorable, to say the least. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and presented. The atmosphere was calming, quieting - not pretentious. A lovely space to enjoy an exceptional meal.
Loved the restaurant and service was wonderful. The only negative I can say is, a big business party came in and we were no longer able to converse and hear each other.
While staying at The Lodge at Ashford Castle, we dined in three restaurants and visited the bar in Lodge. All our meals were excellent, as was the service.
Delicious food in a casual atmosphere. Outstanding service!
The food as excellent as was the service
The food was phenomenal.
I had the fresh catch of the day and it was the best meal I had in Ireland. Fiancé had the filet and it was also delicious. We had an early reservation and it was not too crowded or noisy. We received excellent service. And the bread—was to die for!!
We got engaged at the castle and had a wonderful dinner in The Dungeon with champagne to celebrate.
We stayed at the caste and thought everything was excellent but when we dined at the dungeon our server must have charged us for another tables drinks. It wasn’t a small amount of money - it really doubled our bill. I am sure if was not intentional and the charges were removed but I didn’t think it was handled well.
The Dungeon, and the Castle in general, were a great experience, even though we had to navigate the narrow roads leading to it in the rain. I actually recommend going there on a rainy evening, for it contributes to the illusion of living a fairy tale. For the less adventurous, it would be safer and still perfectly satisfying on a sunny day.
By all means, stop and have a couple of drinks at the bar first. Everything we ordered was excellent, including what was, to our surprise, the best Mojito we ever had. The Smoked Old-Fashioned is a must-have if you are a fan of bourbon-based cocktails, and the Prince of Wales is well worth the price.
Dinner was very good. The locally grown oysters (actually Pacific stock) are the size of a large spoon, not briny and creamy. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Dungeon. Service was attentive and, yet, not intrusive. It was truly a fabulous evening.
The food was to die for, the waiter and waitresses were so nice, the environment was quiet and nice, the castle was so cool
Have eaten multiple times in The Dungeon restaurant and enjoyed the food this visit as before. Prior to our visit we phoned in and had requested a quiet table at the side of the dining area due to a hearing problem with one in our party. Unfortunately our request was not received and we were seated mid restaurant. Staff was gracious and changed our table, however it was still mid dining area and we found it difficult to talk to one another during our meal. We will however return again as we enjoy the service and food. Thank you.
Absolutely top draw excellent food great service and first class settings a lovely experience altogether.
very pleasant great food enjoyed seeing the castle
If you are staying in the castle it is worth the walk downstairs. Not the best steak house but a good meal with excellent service.
The ambiance, food and service at the Dungeon at Ashford Castle was excellent!
Loved it! Very relaxing and quiet atmosphere. The service was excellent. The steak was cooked exactly the way I like it.
