The Fifth Element
Enjoyed a nice bottle of very reasonable wine with excellent salads, spinach appetizer and pizzas.
The staff was very nice & tended to our table to make sure that everything was OK. Food was amazing, drinks size very generous & delicious. Next time I come to RI, this is one of the places I will definitely come back to!!!
We enjoyed the burgers and bursts appetizer. The staff was wonderful. Definitely coming back and would recommend to friends.
food wasn't that good 😕 risotto was delicious my steak and the salmon
It is always fun to dine at "The Fifth Element".....menu is always diverse and the food well prepared.
My wife and I enjoyed a wedge salad and margherita pizza. Drinks were reasonable and the martinis exceptional!
Our visitor from Europe was completely delighted to join us for dinner at the Fifth Element!
Nice restaurant in Newport a little bit off the beaten path
Excellent experience, had the pizza first then the arugula salad with salmon. Finished up with fresh coffee and creme brulee. All were wonderful.
Food was good, vegan options available. Live music was a plus and created good atmosphere. Service was poor, inattentive server who was either not around or chatting with colleagues.
Wanted a restaurant outside of the busy waterfront and found the 5th element. We were pleased with the high quality food. The poutine was a hit. Scallops were excellent.
The restaurant was half full and we sat inside with a reservation. We kept on having to switch our seats at the table multiple times to avoid the strong beaming sun while other areas were okay. The waiter and hostess separately commented on how strong the sun was at our table and saw that we kept switching our seats and didn’t offer to switch the table. We were served mussels and two large mussels were fully closed and we remarked to the waiter that we couldn’t eat them because of that and he just laughed and said yes you definitely can’t eat and took them away. With only a dozen mussels and it being obvious that they never opened, they shouldn’t have been served.
Took some friends to the Monday night dinner and jazz scene for their first time. They not only liked the food but really enjoyed the music. Pizza was particularly good.
We come here often - never had a bad meal or bad service. excellent cocktails and vibrant atmosphere. Definitely will return and bring friends.
Not what we expected for a dinner vibe, but a lively spot for someone looking for an upbeat atmosphere.
A cool relaxed place away from the crowd in Newport. Great food and outstanding service.
Waited 1 1/2 hours for food. Poor communication. Advised management and they were genuinely apologetic and tried to make things right. Food, untimely, was good.
Food was excellent, waitress was attentive, not over done. Owner took time to meet us. Very impressed. Will return.
Good food and nice environment
Locale molto carino, diviso in 2: la parte bar e la parte dining. Si può cenare anche nella parte bar volendo. Cibo buono, prezzo moderato, servizio ottimo (non ricordo il nome della cameriera, ma è stata davvero carina!).
Great food, music, place to meet friends!
Our family of 5 visited Newport for vacation recently. On the second to last night, we wanted to try something off the beaten path and found many good reviews for Fifth Element. So, we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed.
The restaurant was crowded (summer weekend + jazz festival) and a little rowdy (there was a great live band), but our waitress was fun, kept the drinks flowing, and generally took good care of us.
We ordered Burrata and Chick Pea Fritters as appetizers -- both excellent! For dinner, we had the Pappardelle, Tandoori Chicken, Scallops, Salmon, and Braised Short Ribs. I had the Tandoori Chicken and was very happy with the flavor and portion.
Fifth Element has a very nice and creative offering in their food combinations, all done very well. If we ever go back to Newport, we will definitely go back.
Excellent pizza, fun atmosphere, great service.
Once again the Fifth did not disappoint. New menu is creative. Great drinks. Good service
We came to see The Playboys! First time at the restaurant - really impressed - food delicious, service excellent!
Food was amazing! Everyone enjoyed their dish and the service was great. Definitely make a reservation if you’re going on a busy night!
Fun eclectic vibe. Enjoyed the ambiance. Pizzas were really good! Salmon was good! Overall a good experience.
I would definitely recommend Fifth Element. I had chicken tandoori chicken....quite good!
We loved the ambience/ vibe / decor of this hip establishment. Our server was outstanding and so helpful. Our ladies thoroughly enjoyed our sweet Martinis. 3 of us loved our dinners while the other half were not so thrilled. The vegetarian crock was delicious and we'll seasoned. However the tandoori chicken was too dry (not thoroughly immersed in Tandoori paste) and the chickpeas were too spicy (could have used a cautionary reminder as our diner was a youngster). While the scallops were delicious, the lentil surround was ill-suited for the dish (and some of lentils were tough and dry). nevertheless we left full and happy for the experience.
Everything was great. Music too!
Incredible food and atmosphere. We didn't go in with many expectations and left blown away and eager to return the next time we were in the area. Our party was very impressed with every single dish we ordered. The drink menu was world class and the owner (also our waitress for the night) couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
Great atmosphere! Must try the spinach balls!!
We were in Newport for the weekend, and walked past The Fifth Element on our way from Thames St to the house we rented. Our kids, 13 & 10, were concerned that there wouldn't be anything they'd like.
They were surprised. The kids shared the 3B Burger, which was excellent, as was the salmon I enjoyed. My wife enjoyed her filet as well.
The service from Jasper was also very good.
We enjoyed the lamb poutine appetizer, excellent filet mignon.
So very enjoyable! Eat where the locals eat. It's a great change of pace from the crowded side of town; much more relaxed and much less touristy. Outdoor tables and indoor seating -- the large open windows make you feel you're outside. Good menu/food. Pleasant staff. Good value. Owner tends bar and visits with customers.
Overall the food was good tho not super special or creative. The service was spotty..,greeted promptly but felt the waitress was rushing to get us to order opting to come back in a few minutes rather then offering to help by familiarizing us with drinks and menu. Once our food was delivered we hardly saw her and had to wait a long time for our ck. Wish the service had been more relaxed and friendly. Would have changed how we felt about the experience. There was really only one part of one of the dishes we ordered that was sub par. Other then that it was good.
Monday night jazz band very good but extremely loud; we had to shout into each other's ears to speak and we were in the next room - good band though. Very crowded due to July 3rd holiday and service was slow. Food was great; I had the braised short ribs which were GLUTEN FREE and excellent but would have liked 3 (serving was 2). Due to my gluten allergy have not had short ribs in 20+ years since restaurants usually put gluten somewhere - they were very tender and tasty and highly recommend. Husband had steak which looked very good as well. Gluten free creme brulee was also good, just be sure to advise of the allergy.
Great restaurant just off the beaten path from the more touristy areas of Newport. Each meal was extremely flavorful. Cool, hip vibe. Worth the walk. Will definitely be back!
Extraordinarily good! A superb place
Although I really want to like it, I always walk away from the Fifth Element a little disappointed. Aside from the spinach balls, the rest of our food (chickpea fritters, wedge salad, black bean burger) was mediocre or bad. The wine was lovely, though.
