The Mermaid Inn Uptown
Swim on over for Mermaid Inn favorites like the lobster roll with Old Bay fries, seared skate wing, Mermaid fish tacos and the Happiest of Happy Hours.
he uptown location also features an expanded raw bar, brunch and the same casual and cozy "shore feel" as the downtown spot.
Danny Abrams, who has owned and operated some of the city's most beloved restaurants (including The Red Cat and The Harrison), is the principle owner, and Michael Cressotti is their corporate executive chef.
Service and cocktail excellent! Great, get to know you place! Will be back.
Great experience!!!! From the food to the care and attention of the entire Team this is a resturant that's not to be missed!!!! They have a great Happy Hour and make a reservation so you don't have to wait to long to experience this gem!
Food was delicious, but service was slow
Love their Happy Hour for Oysters and the "Hot and Dirty" cocktail!
I recently had a less-than-great experience at Mermaid Inn but was persuaded to give it another try. This time, it did not disappoint. The food was great, and the service was great (the Front desk even charged my phone for me). It’s a great choice and will chalk up the single disappointing experience as a one-off.
Absolutely lovely!!! A true jewel out of the tourist route!!!
Very accommodating for our event! Love the happy hour!
Love this place!
My new favorite UWS restaurant.
Perfect mix of interesting yet approachable and super yummy food that is well priced - happy hour from 5-7 is the real steal. All in a buzzy but low key setting
One of the best on the UWS. Fresh fish, great service.
The staff is amazing here. Thank you for treating us so well. The menu for winter will be wonderful!
We had a reservation. We had to wait.
The server was not warm or really excited to be there.
They do not have non-dairy milk. These days shouldn't that be a must? Soy, Almond, etc....
The manager did check in on us and was very friendly.
Fabuolus place with great food and service away from hectic midtown!
We LOVE happy hour ❤️
I would recommend because the food is always great and the service is very good but the screaming children in the back room is unacceptable. If your kids can’t behave, leave. My son is 14 yrs old and he has never been disruptive in a restaurant. Why? Because he was taught that screaming or getting up from your chair during your meal is not allowed. Period
Delicious food, good service. Very noisy to the point it was unpleasant
It was our anniversary and the manager sent us champagne and lovely dessert! Charming restaurant, delicious food and attentive staff.
First time at uptown location; we tend to gravitate to the East Village location.
Table ready on our arrival. Host and server cordial. Service and ambiance very good. Convivial ambience.
Dishes well prepared from good ingredients and well presented. Prices in the typical NY range. Unfussy wine offerings, prices quite acceptable.
Well recommended. We shall return without a second thought.
We always enjoy the nicely prepared food and relaxed atmosphere.
Delicious lobster rolls. Very noisy but service is great. Little tiny rolls for apps.
I had yellowtail ceviche and it was fantastic, if a little bit small, on the brunch menu.
Really enjoyed a family birthday dinner - all great - food, service, etc. Only down side was that 5 of us were seated at what was rally a 4 person table - so somewhat cramped! Otherwise would have given it an "excellent"
We were seated in the back dining room and it was indeed TOO noisy!!!
But the ambience was ok and service ok. Nothing awesome... but good.
The food? Also good.
Had a lovely Saturday brunch sitting outside at the Mermaid. Food was great -- interesting and flavorful -- and the service was terrific.
Everything was exceptional from the food to the service. The only negative was the noise level - LOUD!
Bar staff overwhelmed so slow service. We got there in the end.
Food very good, decent value.
Way too loud. I really like this restaurant but tough to hear anyone!
Good food, as usual. Only one bar tender on duty for a very full house. Extremely noisy.
As usual the food and service were really good. It is so nice to have a reliable friendly high quality seafood restaurant. One tiny quibble: my fried oysters were not as hot as they usually are. And I wish that the crab cakes were offered as a main course. I can’t quite bring myself to order two appetizers. And they are excellent!
Food was great. Waiter was helpful and resourceful.
The issue was the noise level ... TOO LOUD.
Always inventive new dishes along with old standbys. Delicious food, courteous and friendly servers. The front desk a bit intimidating but otherwise a perfect experience.
As always, a friendly welcome, excellent service and delicious food. My first choice when dining out on the UWS.
Terrible experience. It was my friends 60th birthday. It was supposed to be a special evening. But it was not because of my experience .
They set us down at a very undesirable cramped table in the corner. Acoustics were terrible in the restaurant . Took a long time for the waiter to come over and take our drink order .
Then I felt this dripping on my head. It was from the AC unit above. They were not apologetic whatsoever. Then they sat us outside. Waiter did not come over for a half hour. So it took literally 45 minutes to get a glass of wine . Server was very unfriendly. Service was terrible/ slow. I had to ask for a candle on our table like the other tables .
Food was just OK. My ahi tuna was a small portion and overpriced .
Great place for a solid cocktail and fresh perfectly prepared seafood. The happy hour food menu is a deal, too!
Nothing beats their happy hour! You aren't limited to the bar and they even take reservations.
Wonderful food. The happy hour price and selection of food and drinks were wonderful. The fish tacos are amazing! The service was wonderful and attentive even though we were made dinner out of happy hour. If you love butter and lobster, the buttered lobster roll is for you. We would recommend to others, as it was recommended to us. My dinner partner and I have been talking about the experience for three days.
My first problematic experience here. I wanted the lobster bake without mussels. The last time I had it, the mussels were spoiled. Toxic, actually. So I asked to not have it with the mussels. They could not accomodate this request. Which seemed odd. Just don't put mussels on the plate? So, we had a drink, some oysters and left for another restaurant in the 'hood with a more welcoming environment. I eat here no less than twice a month so this was an anomaly. Usually great service and food.
Great as always
As always Mermaid is great. The service , food was excellent. It was worth the wait to sit outside as one of our group had hearing issues. Thank you to Mermaid’s staff for making that happen. Even the other guests were charming as a couple confessed to staying late just to eavesdrop on a fun conversation we were having. All was good!
