Great service, lovely food and nice atmosphere. Would happily recommend to family and friends alike.
We had high tea at Sixteen. The food was delicious, but service and ambiance was outstanding. Carlos was attentive and personable. Would highly recommend.
Amazing service. Great food. Really good for kids as well. Perfect.
This was my second visit to No 16. I was early so asked to sit in the lounge for a while before my meal. I expected to be asked if I wanted anything, but was left quite alone. If asked, I would have had a glass of fizz. Eventually, I had to go and find someone to see if I could go through to eat, which was done nicely. The menu is a little limited, but I found things I liked. I then asked for some water and had to wait some time before it arrived. I then had to ask for a wine list. My water glass had a chip in it which I noticed, but the staff hadn't. My foo came in good time, along with my glass of wine and I enjoyed my meal. The Caesar salad was particularly good. I was sitting next to a fairly noisy table of Lebanese people. I know their birth place as they talked of nothing else, quite loudly! At the end of the meal the bill had the automatic 12.5% service charge, even though the service had not been very good. However, the waitress did offer a free started in respect of the chipped water glass, which was the right thing to do. The location of the restaurant to the Albert Hall makes it a good choice for a pre-concert meal, but I think they could do better.
Absolutely loved the afternoon tea at The Orangery. Very well priced yet very luxe. They even offered a dairy-free option which was perfect for a friend. All in all, highly recommend (and I never write reviews)!
unless you have a table outside to enjoy the setting and surroundings, which we didn't despite there being available tables throughout our meal, I wouldn't recommend this to a friend.
The garden here is exquisite and peaceful, but we we sitting near a generator of some kind set behind the beautiful plants. The constant hum was awful - but the garden and long pool so lovely which offset the noise.
We had mezza and a bottle of wine, both good, but the pitta bread too hard so we think pre-prepared. We finished off with coffees and I had one of the best hot chocolate drinks ever - dark and gorgeous. Apart from the generator and pitta bread, all was just lovely - admire this hotel, atmosphere and decor and certainly location! Our waitress, from Venezuela, could not have been more pleasant and efficient, and the other staff we encountered were also pleasant and quietly welcoming. We'll definitely be going there again.
Highly recommend!! Delicious food, friendly staff and lovely ambiance! Quant gem in a gracious boutique hotel!
Lovely calm green oasis to sit and enjoy the garden. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Good service and great food
Unfortunately having arrived at 8pm items were already unavailable in the menu. There was no welcome or greeting just a launch into ‘Do you want to drinks or order?’ For a prime positioned boutique hotel that is very cleverly and attractively decorated hotel it fell short. With our preferred starter unavailable we order the aubergine tabouleh main course which when it arrived was tepid to cold and certainly reheated and the tabouleh was simple couscous with some scattered pomegranate seeds. We chose not to eat it and to pay for our drinks ( a steep £21 for a single G&T and a bottle of sparkling water) and leave. The Duty Manager listened to our complaint but I think they need to review the quality of what is offered.
It could be a magical conservatory in the summer if the service and food were markedly improved.
The afternoon Tea was a lovely way to celebrate Mother’s Day! Wonderful service, location and ambience, topped off with delicious food!
It was a very enjoyable meal and good food and good service
Always a pleasure visiting the Orangery. My original booking had to be cancelled due to a private event and I and my guest were greeted with a complimentary glass of champange when we arrived for the rescheduled booking which was a lovely touch.
Hidden gem, beautiful location and good food. I was here for lunch with a friend and we loved it. Really enjoyable and recommended.
The surroundings are beautiful and an oasis from busy South Kensington. The pumpkin soup was outstanding; real flavours came through. Main course of Battered Cod and Chips less good. Fish OK, chips skinny and catering-pack. Selection of miniature deserts was disappointing, because they, frankly, were stale. Excellent wine list- really good choice of wines by the glass, well chosen for producers, eg Chave Rhone. £100 for two including a glass of wine, each. I was a little disappointed, having been here for afternoon tea on a number of occasions, with excellent fresh pastries every time. Perhaps I was unlucky.
Excellent service, very friendly but discreet waiters.Great value for money in an unusual setting.
WI'll return and recommended!
Enjoyed afternoon tea, everything was amazing!!!
Eye wateringly expensive everyday hotel snack list.
Poor selection of wine and drinks.
Very lovely restaurant tucked away in South Kensington! Went before a BBC Prom at the Royal Albert Hall and was pleasantly surprised at just how lovely it all was. While seeming a little pricey at first, the food certainly deserved it as it was truly excellent with service to match.
Extremely impressed and looking forward to returning!
I had read some not so great reviews but I didn’t let that put me off. I have to say the staff were absolutely amazing, some reviewers were critical about the staff but they were the best! So thank you for making our afternoon tea amazing. I think for what you pay the food quantity is about right. Beautiful garden afternoon tea and a gorgeous hotel. If you are picky about food then don’t go here, if you want a nice ambience in a beautiful garden with nice food then this is the place 😘😘😘
The service was v poor. The front desk was borderline rude. We were sat for15 minutes before anyone came. We had to reorder 3 times because the food on the menu wasn’t available. The service was slow throughout and the food was expensive. Would not recommend
We ate in the garden which is a lovely , peaceful area and we were very happy to sit there and chat. This was just as well as it took an hour for any food to arrive and when it did it was disappointing. A great place currently let down by the food and service. I do hope they can get this sorted as then it will be delightful.
Lovely quiet hotel very near South Kensington. Felt like a country hotel, with a pretty garden at the rear. Limited menu, but good selection of wines by the glass. The set menu is no longer available, but the staff honoured our booking allowing us to select equivalent items from their a la carte menu. They took a lot of trouble to seat us in the drawing room, as the garden room was taken for a group booking. In the end we had a good meal, and the staff were trying to get things right, even though we couldn't eat where we expected and the menu did not exist! Worth going back when they are not so busy with a large group. Easy 10 minute walk to the Albert Hall.
The place is beautiful. Food was ok, not outstanding, but can’t complain too much about food. Service was not good. I was left sitting alone at the hotel reception for 10 minutes, it felt like I was waiting to be interviewed. Once I sat down, the lady who served the table was very cold. I didn’t feel welcome at all. Two starter, one main was beef sandwich, another main was two proaced eggs, 4 drinks were £130 in total. Overall, if you didn’t care about the service much, or price, then it is worth checking out this hidden garden restaurant, it is certainly beautiful. But if you were after nice dining experience with outstanding food in fair price, I will not suggest it. You could just go and have a drink, check out the garden, then have food easewhere.
Perfect! Perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect perfect
A very pleasant, light and airy dining room, with tables that were well spaced and not at all crowded together. We didn't feel we were in a very busy area at all. Good service and staff.
Atmosphere a little cold.
Ambiente elegante, tavola raffinata ,discreta cucina. Personale molto attento, ottimo servizio
Amazing elegant setting and fabulous service! We had afternoon tea which was delightful.
Interesting decor and ambience. Outstanding efficient and friendly waitress. Made our Valentine's evening very pleasant.
I really loved the hotel, it had the ambience of a comfortable modern style with attention to colour and texture. The service was faultless and I would say delivered in a very polite but friendly manner. We had afternoon tea with a glass of champagne and whilst the food was presented beautifully and it felt like a treat, it didn't have that wow factor taste for me.
Very quiet but nice space. Can imagine it will be lovely for al fresco in the Summer.
Good was very well cooked and nicely presented
Short menu - which works best.
The Open Table set menu for £19 at No 16 was excellent value and the food was delicious and well presented. The salmon with hollandaise sauce was enjoyed by both of us. The staff were very helpful and we had a good time. I would definitely return.
Great place. Beautiful interior and exterior. Superb service and very good food. In addition, the manager Phil made sure that all our needs were met at all time.
We really loved the place but the restaurant was freezing and the service was slow. The combination of the 2 was quite painful.
A first class meal in this discrete and quiet hotel restaurant.
An excellent meal and very good value!
We had a lovely lunch and the people at the restaurant we're really lovely. We enjoyed the food and are looking forward to coming back to enjoy the beautiful garden.
The setting is really nice, lovely garden and nice table. The waiters are very pleasant, happy and kind but they don't come very often and service was slow. The real problem was the food, very expensive for what it is. For example over £18 for a fish cake which comes with nothing else on the plate except the fishcake, all the sides are extra. They don't serve water and only have very small water bottles with which you fill 1 and half glasses and are around £5. asked for some break which would not come normally and after waiting 30min to receive it we finished the meal and didn't need it anymore.
Will go back there for afternoon tea as the setting is really nice, but the restaurant unfortunately is not worth a lunch.
The place was STUNNING!! I fell in love with every part of the hotel and the orangery was just perfect! But I felt the good didn't really live up to the standard of the place, hope they can develop on that and create a better afternoon tea selection.
