Sad experience! We were celebrating my 70th birthday last Friday. We requested a special table for the ocassion. When we arrived, we had been assigned another table and we had to wait 10min for the one we wanted. The service was terrible, we had to serve ourselves the bread & butter, as well as the wine. They made us wait a lot for the main course and paid very little attention to our table as there was a big party next to us. Positive: the food was ok.
My husband and I hadn't eaten there before. The only complaint I had was there was a draught coming in the side door every time it was opened. There appeared to be a curtain beyond that door but it was never pulled I guess it was because the staff were constantly going to collect drinks from the bar.
The food was ok but nothing I would rave about. We are both good cooks and entertain a lot, so we didn't come away saying we would return.
The Saddle Room provides good food in nice surroundings.
The only negative comment is the limited choice on the menu, that has not changed in quite a while and does not provide any variety for vegetarians.
There is no place in Dublin to compare with The Shelbourne, it is first class, always was, always will be.
We went here for my favourite steak to share - the chateaubriand - however they had a set menu for Valentines. That being said, I was still incredibly happy with the quality of the food. The most notable thing here is the service, which is always fantastic (and I have had the same waiter twice now). It was a special touch when they gave me a rose for Valentines.
Tasting menu with generously sized glasses of matching wines was a real treat.
the entire experience from the pre-dinner drinks at the bar, to the food and ambience of the restaurant was perfect. The food was amazing, the wine selection was perfect and the staff were very professional and down to earth.
It's a nice restaurant but for the prices I would expect a lot better. The house white was not the best. Service good. I have eaten a lot better for a lot less
The Saddle Room never disappoints! A family reunion was a perfect occasion to reunite here and the food was just exquisite! Brilliant service, food, drink and atmosphere!
The ambience , the food , the service and all between was incredible! I went there for my birthday dinner and it was lovely. It can get pricey though, so definitely keep that in mind. I recommend for special occasion.
Went for the pre-theatre menu as part of a rugby weekend with family. The service was exemplary...absolutely first class. The wine list was extensive and catered for all tastes and budget. We all raved about the presentation of the food but the highlight of the evening was the food itself. Perfectly cooked and just wonderfully tasty. The a la carte menu is definitely something to tackle on another visit.
...gorgeous food and wine with superb friendly staff and a lovely feel to the place, can’t wait to go back... 👌👌👌
We held a 90th birthday dinner at the Saddle Room and the whole experience was superb. The food and the service lived up to all our expectations.
Fantastic food and service. Come here for all special occassions. Staff are superb!
Wonderful night food was amazing service was excellent staff very friendly
Very enjoyable experience. Food and service excellent. I will be back.
Three of us went for my mithers birthday. We arrived early having spent the morning at the Shelbourne Spa (fantastic experience). We were seated immediately. The rooms are grand as one would expect. We all had three courses and each one was a delight. Each mouthfull was a joy - you could tell the ingredients were fresh and well balanced. The desserts were out of the world. Thank you all for such a lovely exoeruence. We will definitely be back as the prices are also affordable. Can’t wait. What a chef. Bravo.
Wine was very expensive and that was the house wine €42 and €45 for red and white, but as it is a 5* hotel you would expect to pay the prices. We would definitely go back as we really enjoyed the whole experience.
The dining area is a bit drab and needs modernising but to maintain its elegance also
