The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel Ratings and Reviews
Celebrating two graduations, an 18th birthday a 50something birthday and "taking Granny out for lunch" the Saddle Room crossed all all divides splendidly with excellent food at a most reasonable price, attentive but not overbearing service, humour and a lovely surprise at the end. Thank you Shelbourne.
The Saddle Room is just a lovely venue to dine in - it is spacious so you don't have other diners on top of you, it is quiet so great for good conversation. The service is outstanding and the focus is on ensuring that diners have a great evening. The food is great too and the set menu has plenty of choice and is really good value for a 5 star hotel venue. The goat's cheese and cured salmon starters were beautifully presented, light and delicious. Both of the fish main courses, cod and hake were top class. Sides of various vegetables were cooked to perfection. Great wine selection but a tad expensive (€51 for an Albarhino) but I suppose that is what you expect from a venue of this class.
Had the most fantastic lunch here before heading to the RDS Horse Show on Ladies Day. From the moment we phoned to say we were running late to the time we were escorted to our taxi everything was a pleasure. We were looked after so well, the staff were so attentive, helpful and a little sprinkle of fun..perfect combination for the delicious food we enjoyed, along with some very good wine. Wonderful experience
We dined with 2elderly ladies and we all enjoyed the experience - the mushroom soup was the nicest they have eaten - the Wicklow lamb they said was lovely but I felt it was a very small piece on the plate - although not on the menu the staff organised 2 lovely bowls of fruit and ice cream - the chicken and fish dishes were lovely and tasty - the staff were very friendly and helpful and made the lunch a really enjoyable experience we will be back !!!
Most enjoyable lunch for a group of six friends. Wonderful service. When one of the party mentioned that she couldn't read the menu as she had forgotten her reading glasses, the waitress returned promptly with a pair for her from reception. We were well impressed!
A favourite place for us to meet.
My aunt chose this restaurant to celebrate her 89th birthday celebration. We arrived early for dinner (4pm) to avoid crowds.
Service was initially fine, but we told our server we would like a few more minutes to decide and then she disappeared for over 30 min. Another server showed up and did his best but food was very slow to arrive. Total meal took three hours!
Manager came by to ask about the meal and we told him how poor we felt the service was. Food was what one would expect at Applebee's. Extremely disappointed. Manager did discount our bill by 25% with his apologies.
Many other wonderful dining options on Long Island.
The Saddle Room was a lovely venue for Sunday Lunch and the Staff were very pleasant
and helpful. The meal was good, but let down by a very measly starter portion. I had the cured salmon was miniscule and more like an amuse bouche. The mail course was lovely and I had the hake. The deserts were very average. I had the meringue which was very white and chalky, like a bought type and disappointing. Not really the standard I would have expected and not really better than my own local hotel, which wouldn't have the same reputation as the Shelbourne.
Second night in from the States. Went on OpenTable and found the Saddle Room available. Extremely happy we did. We had scallops for appetizers and Chateaubriand for two for dinner. Both were perfect. Wines and dessert were excellent. Pawel did an outstanding job. This was one of the best dining experiences ever. Thank you.
The Saddle Room is a beautiful venue - lovely atmosphere, good sized tables, good space between tables and quiet for having good conversation.
I dined with my sister and brother-in-law and we all had exceptionally good starters and main courses - no deserts! Great wine list - wines are expensive but that is to be expected from a dining facility of this quality.
We had outstandingly good, professional and friendly service all evening.
Went here for an anniversary and ordered the Chateaubriand steak to share between us - and it was fantastic. Definitely one of the best steaks I've ever had and worth every penny. I really loved the 'ceremony' that comes with serving the steak: essentially, it comes out on its own trolley and is cut and served right in front of you.
The staff is fantastic... and of course the Shelbourne is stunning.
we had a great time. Pre theater dinner.Had a drink in the bar beforehand, best bowl of peanuts i have ever had.Payed 10.55 for a glass of orange and long neck cider.but was worth it for the lovely surroundings.we had afternoon tea there also 2 years ago, that was also great.but will be back again, just for the peanuts alone.Delighted.
The Service was wonderful, the Food Delicious , the Chicken had a wonderful medley of flavours, lamb slightly pink melted n the mouth. Dining in the Shelbourne was a fantastic experience and one we will repeat. Thank You for making our celebration so special.
I was never at The Saddle Room before; it was recommended by a friend in relation to my requirement for a confidential business meeting venue at lunchtime.
It was perfect for my needs and my two business guests thought highly of the whole experience.
Many thanks, I will use the restaurant again.
