The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel
Named after The Shelbourne’s historic dining rooms, The Saddle Room Restaurant is an old favourite reinvented as a Dublin steakhouse and seafood restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Open Kitchen, the interaction from The Oyster Bar, the tantalizing taste of great food and the smooth touch of leather banquettes. A casual but sophisticated design, modern menu and savvy service create an atmosphere that is comfortable, cozy, fun and appeals to everyone.
Offering a contemporary menu created by our executive head chef Garry Hughes, using only the finest Irish ingredients.
We are also the ideal place for an Exclusive Private Dining Venue Dublin. The Saddle Room Restaurant has two private dining rooms, available for private hire for lunch or dinner, both with their own unique style and decor making both the perfect place to celebrate any occasion.
Food is fantastic and everyone was so nice. Make sure you have a reservation.
Fabulous faultless experience every staff member from reception to servers to managment wonderful ...it has been a long time since we enjoyed something so much
EXCELLENT VALUE FOR LUNCH IN LOVELY SURROUNDINGS HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Lovely experience. Great food and excellent service. Would highly recommend
Good high end hotel food.
But a few flaws:
Tables for two are too small for two at dinner.
One of six sea scallops in an otherwise wonderful appetizer was over cooked and tough
Servers seemed to struggle to take care of everyone at the natural pace of the dinner
Despite flaws - Perfect for us as jet lagged travelers on our first night in Dublin.
The food was very good. However, the server was incredibly rude. This was my second time going to this restaurant, and I unfortunately had the same poor service. The rest of the staff were very friendly as was management. The ambience was fine except the fire alarm went off twice during the dinner.
We pre-ordered beef wellington for a birthday celebration, one with a mushroom allergy confirmed in email and over the phone. The first with no mushroom came out slightly over cooked and plated up with cep purée which mean one guest couldn’t eat. Other had raw pastry. Starters were lacklustre and with a disappointing main course led to an unhappy birthday girl who was looking forward to coming to her favourite place for a treat. Not great first impressions for the rest of the party who all work in the hotel industry.
It was a perfect location for a quiet catch up with business colleagues. The food was superb and the service excellent. All in all, a very pleasant evening.
I've dined in the Saddle Room twice. The food was perfectly prepared and served. One evening I has sea bream and the next evening a beef entree. Both were outstanding. The service was impeccable.
Brilliant dinner and wonderful experience. We got the special theatre set menu. Lamb was excellent and our waitress was exceptional
My wife and I had the 3 course Market Menu. Everything was wonderful. The little “extras” from the chef between the courses was excellent. Less expensive than other comparable restaurants we have dines at recently. Overall a great experience.
We had a beautiful lunch here on Sunday. Food was really good and staff all very friendly and helpful
Food + service great. Room on dreary side . Prices expensive but worth it !
The food was really good would go back with friends for sure.
Beautiful food and surroundings. Staff were very attentive except for a little bit of a wait to get the bill.
On arrival we were asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, it was our anniversary so we shared that and we received a nice plate with happy anniversary on it in chocolate and some lovely artisan sweets which was a nice touch.
We actually received the same again a few minutes later, we informed the waiter that we had already received one but he cheerfully said to fire away and eat the second one.
So all in all a lovely experience and we would certainly go back again.
Overall experience was excellent. One small point that was surprising to me was the unacceptable noise level of cutlery being sorted on to a trolley beside our table. This continued for about 5 minutes by a member of staff who seemed to me to be oblivious to the noise level. However, one of my guests said that perhaps it was a hint for us to finish up and move out.
The whole experience of The Shrlbourne was great from the hotel to the property restaurants. The Saddle Room was awesome. I only rated the food a four because I thought my green salad, while great, would have been better with cranberries and candid walnuts. Everything else about the evening was awesome!
We were staying at the hotel and they put us in the back room with no windows, no view of the kitchen just ugly cartoons on the wall (ignore the photos there are only a few gold booths and you are not getting them). They first seated us at the entrance to the room were the staff would enter and I asked to be moved and they put us in the corner. There was poor light in the room and we could barely see the menus. I made the reservation a month ahead of time and was staying at the hotel and was dressed up and that was what we got. The staff was also very rude and acted like we didn't belong there. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone and for that price you could go to the Greenhouse around the block and have a better experience.
Friendly service, lovely relaxed atmosphere, great value set menu, beautiful food. Perfect
We are seated in a booth, which was very private and had lots of room, and made us feel very special.
We had pre-ordered the beef wellington - wowsers - that is a lot of food!
But it was just delicious - we wanted to eat every bite!
The theatre of it is wonderful - it is carved tableside - you really do feel like a VIP at that stage.
Although we didn't have room for dessert, they brought us an anniversary plate, which was a lovely touch.
Nisea the sommelier helped us choose great wines, and was very attentive.
A great choice for a celebratory night out.
Overall a 10/10 experience!
We had a graduation family lunch and the whole experience was really good and the food and ambience excellent - a great place to chill and enjoy time together
A wonderful experience overall, the only thing i would change is the direction of our table instead of having one guest with their back to the wall and the other guest facing the wall, i would turn the table 180degrees so both guests could look out into the room sideways to the wall that way the adjoining tables guests would be behind them. As the people next to us were quite loud and their conversation dominated our evening. Other than that it was amazing
Went to The Saddle Room for Sunday lunch for a special occasion, a birthday.
Food and the presentation was great with special compliments to their Sunday roast beef and their Molton chocolate cake.
Unfortunately the meal was let down in part because of the service. The waiters were very attentive but often too attentive pushing unnecessary bottles of water by filling the glasses too much and then opening a new bottle without asking. A similar approach was taken with the wine until I had to ask the waiter to stop topping up the glasses as I was worried he’d just bring another bottle. The lunch at €35 for 3 courses is great value but watch your beverage bill as it can jump very easily with over attentive happy pouring waiters.
The staff were so friendly, they were very attentive and never rushed us off the table (we sat there for 3.5 hours!) I asked for a booth table and they accommodated us which was great. The food was absolutely gorgeous and there were nice breaks between courses. For a 3 course Sunday lunch menu, it was €36pp which I thought was very reasonable, we’ll definitely be back!
A thoroughly enjoyable experience. Good food, wonderfully presented, in a comfortably quiet (not awkwardly silent!!) atmosphere. Service that managed to be attentive without being intrusive.
The Shelbourne Dublin is a must see for anyone spending a day or a week in Dublin. I recommend staying at the hotel to experience the whole ambiance. If time is limited stop in the pub 27 for a beverage and appetizer or Afternoon tea in the front tea room. The Saddle room for breakfast or a romantic dinner a must.
My self & my wife dinned here on 6-4-19 it was our 3rd weeding anniversary we had last dinned here 2 years ago, but it is not the same restaurant that it was 2 years ago. This is not silver 5 star service that it was 2 years ago it is clear that he staff are not trained correctly & management has changed. It still has the same interiors & this is fantastic but the restaurant was not very busy on a Saturday night as we seen several empty tables. This with the fact I could get a table much easier than 2 years ago should have let me know what was to come.
We got there early & had drinks in the bar which is really nice we had a 9pm sitting & we sat at around 8.55, All was fine we placed our orders etc.., but then when I looked around we could see tables not cleared empty bottles in windows etc.. we were a little surprised as last time tables were been ironed & crumbs removed between courses with a knife! We got our starters & I ordered a bottle of white wine, this was poured & bottle placed in ice bucket well away from table, ok but I would have preferred to be in control of when I could top up my wine, 15-20 miniutes in I wanted a refill my glass was empty I presumed waiter might notice but after another 10 miniutes he did not, I then had to ask him to top me up which he did, at this stage our mains arrived for me beef - mash & cauliflour beef was fine, but cauliflour was way too wet with far too much water left in container, mash seemed fine until I found a piece of cling film plastic in the middle of it, i removed & said nothing a bit shocked but thought ok it can happen, then again my wine was empty & I wanted another top up, I waited another 10-15 miniutes could not even get a waiters attension & our waiter had gone awol I got the attention of another waiter who topped up my wine at this stage I did complain & showed him the clingfilim he said sorry & removed& left. About 5 miniutes latter a supervisor came & asked us if everything was alright. I said not really &
Lovely food. Very attentive service. Pork belly was divine
Excellent pre-theater dinner for 5. Ideal for special occasions, in our case my daughters confirmation.
Excellent food and service. Staff efficient and very friendly. Overall you get the wonderful Shelbourne experience!
The food was excellent, however the menu content was very limited, Iwould have expected more items on each course.
we found the service to be very professional and friendly , but not in your face. the food was excellent - the pork belly was to die for.
Simply stunning - service is second to none
I brought my grandmother for Mother’s Day lunch and we had a fabulous time. Our table was tucked away in the corner so it was quite and away from the hustle and bustle which suited us perfectly. The food was outstanding, we had the set 3 course lunch and I could not fault it. And the staff where lovely, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Overall we had a 5star afternoon from beginning to end and although it was a bit on the expensive side it was truly worth every penny. It shows you get what you pay for!
A very pleasant experience, we really enjoyed the night
Good food and even better service, we were there for a double celebration and we really enjoyed the evening. Great value, and highly recommend, especially to mark a special occasion.
Fab ambience and service, but food was just average. Wine was pricey but that's to be expected because of the venue.
Loved having lunch there! Food was fab! Will be back!
Very enjoyable experience from start to finish. Food exceeded my expectations.
Amazing service. Really nice touches for a celebration.
