The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel
Named after The Shelbourne’s historic dining rooms, The Saddle Room Restaurant is an old favourite reinvented as a Dublin steakhouse and seafood restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Open Kitchen, the interaction from The Oyster Bar, the tantalizing taste of great food and the smooth touch of leather banquettes. A casual but sophisticated design, modern menu and savvy service create an atmosphere that is comfortable, cozy, fun and appeals to everyone.
Offering a contemporary menu created by our executive head chef Garry Hughes, using only the finest Irish ingredients.

Food was great but the service could have been much better.
Was extremely busy for the Christmas period.
I loved the fabulous food. The service was excellent and the staff engaged with me throughout. They knew the menu thoroughly and gave me excellent recommendations. The ambience was just right. I loved every minute of it.
Only got drinks and bread after the starter was half way through. For the 90 per person the food was not fantastic. The cheese for dessert was freezing. It should always be out of the fridge at least an hour before service . Told the staff . Not worth the money . Never again
Myself and my wife were treating ourselves to a special evening and thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. From the minute we arrived we were superbly treated by the staff. They were very attentive to all our needs throughout the whole service.
The food was above our expectations and we loved every course served to us. We couldn't find any fault with the whole evening and we would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family. A truly 5* experience.
We were disappointed with our meal, the people sitting next to us ordered the same main course and they were given ours - well done steak, we therefore had a long wait for ours but when it came it was the other tables steak - medium rare. We had to give these back and wait further, we had finished our wine at this stage while still waiting, we were asked if we would like more wine which was at our expense. We had young children with us as we were celebrating a birthday, they were finished their meal while we were still waiting for our main courses. My daughter asked if she could have some strawberries with chocolate as a special dessert, I was told they couldn’t serve chocolate sauce so I suggested some chocolate on the side. What arrived was a very industrial looking bowl of plain chopped strawberries. All in all, not the experience I expected.
A credit to Dublin this fantastic Hotel in the heart of the City is up there amongst the most Iconic Grand Hotels in the World. The restaurants are fantabulous and the service is beyond compare.
Excellent place to dine . Nice place to eat, clean and orderly, staff are friendly.
I specifically booked the restaurant after looking at the menu on opentable as to treat my friend to Lobster for her birthday as I do every year. When we arrived we were just offered a set menu for €90, We were extremely disappointed and felt mislead showing a different menu. The light was very low and the menu text quite faint, we ask for a little more time to pick and we were told quite abruptly that we couldn't as the kitchen was closing soon, 10 minutes after we arrived. Our server throughout the meal was extremely rude, not what you would expect for a 5 start establishment.
Lovely Hotel. The food is overpriced for what you are getting.
Our first visit here and very disappointed. We were stuck in between a group of three and a group of four and it was extremely difficult to have a conversation with the noise levels either side. Our waiter was very poor. I had to ask for a refill of water every time. My husband had a steak and only got asked did he want a steak knife was he was nearly finished. There was very little choice on the menu and defintely not worth 90 euro each.
Myself and my husband had a truly wonderful meal in The Saddle Room. We got the best of service friendly but not intrusive and the food was absolutely delicious. Many thanks to all the staff.
Had a lovely lunch with some friends. Very attentive server. Lovely atmosphere
Loved the hotel but didn't like the food at all. Service very good though.
I would like to thank the manager and staff from the Saddle room for all their hospitality on Sunday, the 25th November. We where a group of ladies for Birthday lunch and everything was absolutely prefect . We all enjoyed the day.
Thank you again
Everything was excellent, unfortunately two of the fish dishes had ran out which you wouldn’t expect on a Friday evening!
Lovely venue for a quiet celebratory lunch, It was long and leisurely, excellent food. No sense of being hurried. Very good wine list. Tea served in a proper teapot.
I was disappointed with the food as I did not think it was not up to the usual standard.
A very special experience. Amazing food and service. Such an amazing restaurant.
We were a group of 6 ladies on a trip to Dublin & we wanted somewhere with lovely surroundings for our Sunday lunch ..we were not disappointed at all with venue at all apart from a minor detail .
We enjoyed 2 course lunch and staff were initially very attentive and nothing was any bother to get if we asked but after our deserts staff seemed to be rushing past us and nobody offered us tea, coffee or any more alcohol. We came to the conclusion it was possibly change over of staff at possibly this time but we eventually managed to find a young waiter who said he would arrange for our bill to be brought over ..
As I say a minor detail but possibly worth mentioning
We enjoyed a meal for four on the occasion of my parents 55th Wedding Anniversary. Everything was as it should be, aside from the length of time between courses. A 30 - 40 minute wait is not acceptable, even if the ingredients are fresh and cooked to order, especially as the restaurant was less than half full. However when the food did arrive it was exceptional. We will be back.
Great night lovely staff and great food very attentive .
Should explain menu more
We had a number of staff serve us but all lovely
Staff were very professional, from the Hostess that greeted us, to the waitress that served us, were excellent. The food was very nice and filling, and the wine list was very good. Will be back again for sure.
We had a lovely leisurely lunch in pleasant surroundings with very attentive yet non intrusive staff. Food was tasty well presented and small but adequate portions. A very nice treat
Great experience which I would recommend to a friend, especially the main course
Had a fantastic three course meal here at the weekend with my daughter. We ordered the house red and it was excellent - perfect temperature. For starters we had the soup and the smoked salmon, for mains we both had the plaice and for dessert we had the pecan pie and lemon posset. There was a lovely selection of sides and we chose the cauliflower gratin and the truffle parmesan fries. I cannot fault a single thing - the food was fantastic and the service was fantastic. We will definitely return!
Great Good, staff were outstanding, definitely worth a visit, we are booking again soon.
Fantastic value for such a fabulous restaurant. Staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive. Food was amazing
Thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience in the Saddle Room.
I am a fan of the Shelbourne in general but the restaurant is just fantastic. As a Dubliner, it's something to be proud of.
for lunch the prices are very good for this hotel and service and dining room just special.
Go for the food service and ambiance
I visited the Shelbourne restaurant for my graduation lunch with my family and every expectation I had was exceeded. The staff were exceptionally nice, the food was incredible; it was truly an experience anyone would enjoy. Would thoroughly recommend.
excellent service from staff, with a special touch to mark a very special ocassion.
thank you for making the meal special as it meant a lot to us.
Sunday lunch is fab.... soooo tasty and a beautifully designed Shelbourne hotel doggybag in which to take home the left overs of which there was a lot! The servings are enormous!!! But so good you don’t want to leave any behind!
Lovely food ,great staff ,nice atmosphere ,good menu
The Shelbourne is a very well established restaurant and hotel in Dublin. You are guaranteed a lovely meal in there. However, this guarantee comes with a very high price tag. This was probably my most expensive dinner I've ever purchased. That being said, it was a worth every cent
Booked this for the pre-theatre/ early bird menu. 3 courses for 35euro was really good value as the portion size was very big which is not always the norm for a fine dining restaurant in the city center. We were brought the wrong water (fizzy rather than the still we had requested) but once we told them it wasn't an issue and was fixed straight away with more apologies than were required for just mixing up water. As for food quality it was amazing. So tasty, and everything that accompanied worked perfectly. I would highly recommend eating here.
Great food and great service, thanks Alexandra . We no doubt will return, again.
The service was impeccable, food was amazing and such good value. A lovely dining experience. We were celebrating a special occasion and the waiter brought complimentary desert for my friend. Beautiful surroundings, can't wait to return.
