The Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel
Named after The Shelbourne’s historic dining rooms, The Saddle Room Restaurant is an old favourite reinvented as a Dublin steakhouse and seafood restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The Open Kitchen, the interaction from The Oyster Bar, the tantalizing taste of great food and the smooth touch of leather banquettes. A casual but sophisticated design, modern menu and savvy service create an atmosphere that is comfortable, cozy, fun and appeals to everyone.
Offering a contemporary menu created by our executive head chef Garry Hughes, using only the finest Irish ingredients.
We are also the ideal place for an Exclusive Private Dining Venue Dublin. The Saddle Room Restaurant has two private dining rooms, available for private hire for lunch or dinner, both with their own unique style and decor making both the perfect place to celebrate any occasion.
We had a lovely relaxed lunch here, it felt like we had our own private dining room. Staff were lovely and the food was fabulous.
Other than my guest not being able to change potatoes to chips we could not complain about anything
We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch and the service was excellent.
My wife and myself had dinner at the Saddle Room last Saturday, this was our first time there but our expectations were high based on our pre-reading of the menu and reviews. Our starters and main courses were fantastic, Celeriac Soup, Ham Hock terrine followed by Cod and Ox cheek - very tasty. We had 2 small issues when we reflected on our experience. When our server was pouring the wine some drops ended up on the table cloth and then another ended up on my wife's plate. then when it came to desert, my wife ordered the chocolate fondant, after about 15 minutes of waiting we were told that there had been a problem cooking the fondant and they had to start again. when it arrived it was nice but it just put a small gap in what had been a good service. I would go back though.
The food was excellent - we order off the main dinner menu. However, we were offered the pre-theatre menu even that it was later than that time. We thought this was a nice touch even though we didn't use it
Perfect for lunch with friends. Nice quiet snug to chat in peace. Staff were so helpful but not intrusive. Food was sublime. All in all a perfect day
We booked dinner prior to going to the Gaiety for a 7.30 show, but unfortunately for us dinner in the Saddle Room was not suitable. The service was very slow and despite informing the waiter that we wanted to eat dinner and leave at 7pm. it still made no difference. We had to leave without finishing our desert and without coffee. We were so disappointed as we were in the bar from 4pm and had we known the service was so slow, we would have eaten bar food.
We always love going to the Shelbourne it is such a treat, but I'm afraid not for a pre-theatre dinner.
Enjoyed it. Will be back
Was a bit loud near the kitchen . Big table of guests behind us
The room was cold. I'll excuse this as there are refurbishments going on and there was a lot of in and out from outside through the door that's not normally used....on a very cold night. The food when it came to us was colder than it should have been, the plates were not heated so it went colder faster. Service was perfect. Room is lovely. Value - we know it's going to be expensive and that is fine if everything is perfect, but it just missed the mark. Fine for a lower price, too expensive for what we got.....but I suspect we just hit them on a less than good night?
Nice relaxing surrounding with great service. Table d'Hote Menu was very good value
Disgraceful rudeness from girl at the front door. I asked for a better table given we were in the middle of two very large tables with most of the guests having had a lot of wine and cocktails. I was told "Don't be Stupid". Other than I was bringing a client I would have walked.
I don't wish to write a review I don't wish to write a review
Superb dinner, excellent service. Made this a memorable evening for my wife's birthday!
Food was nice, service was a bit slow. Drinks took a long time to come and when they arrived there was lipstick on the glass. Overall average experience- not really worth the price
Lovely food... quality... good service.... 8 euro for bottle of table water seemed excessive..!! But food was lovely.....
Have had lunch there many times. Starters and deserts are best. Mains so so. This time, the room was cool but it was a very cold day outside.
Lovely lunch, excellent service & wonderful chilled atmosphere, so nice not to be rushed!!
Excellent value along with great service and of course thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
Food was beautifully presented and very tasty
Staff were so helpful and well attentive
A five star experience. Seamless service and excellent food. Calm elegant ambience. We didn’t feel rushed and were welcome to stay as long as we liked. It is streets ahead of other high end British franchises nearby
We will be back again soon.
Superb meal in great surroundings. Conor the tall waiter was very good
The atmosphere was relaxing, staff friendly and attentive, cod with cauliflower puree delicious, bread and butter pudding top class, always enjoy a meal in Saddle room, its consistently one of the best.
Fabulous food, as always. Impeccable service and a hushed, luxurious atmosphere with romantic dimmed lighting.
Food was very plain. Served with boiled baby potatoes. . Went for pre theatre. Price was reasonable and service was good.
Excellent menu and food was fabulous. Great service aa always.
A great place to mark a special occasion. In our case it was our son's 21st birthday dinner. Great food. Great service. Great time.
Lovely restful quiet dining, good food, but with a rather limited choice, excellent service , one drawback, put sitting near the window, where there was a cold draught all through the meal , and while the waiter closed the curtains , the draught remained and one of my guests , an elderly lady, maintains that she developed a cold the following day.The draught appeared to be from air-conditioning or ventilitation.
Cheaper to eat in New York and Paris
Menu choices very limited and for specific select tastes. At the prices there should be no extra for portions of veg.
Best was the selection of Deserts.
Total experience was excellent - a late lunch on our anniversary. Comfortable and private milieu and lovely cuisine
Really enjoyed dinner here with my family, food was amazing and wine list was extensive. The service was impeccable and I look forward to dining here again
Good all round but the area we sat was a too tightly packed.
We had a lovely lunch for our wedding anniversary and everybody was great .The only thing I would like to point out was that we felt a bit rushed by the staff , it may have been inexperience but we would have preferred a bit slower .
Hi, Really enjoyed our lunch superb but the last time I had a glass of wine in the Horse Shoe Bar is was 9.50 was quite surprised to be charged 12.50 a glass. I am now in a 4 star Athlone Hotel and was charged 5.85 for a glass.Just a small complain but worth noting.
I and my family visited the Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel on 27th December 2018. It had been a number of years since we frequented the Shelbourne Hotel and thought it would be a nice idea for the Family to cerebrate my Husbands Birthday there. The ambience was very nice and we were able to have a lovely conversation without loud music which we enjoy. Sadly it was the food that let the Restaurant down for a well renowned Hotel like the Shelbourne that has dealt in Catering for many many years this was very disappointing especially that there are so many other lovely restaurants in Dublin that people would choose with better food and less pricey.
A disappointing meal. We went as a pre-Christmas treat and the ambience was not the least bit Christmassy. Food was fine but not worth €70 per head. Service was assiduous but seemed focused on topping up our wine glasses and encouraging us to go for another bottle. It was interesting to see the Shelbourne at Christmas. We now know we are not missing anything special so we will go elsewhere in future.
Fantastic food, great wine list. Service excellent, really enjoyed it. Will be back
Disappointing and overpriced menu, staff very friendly
A truly wonderful afternoon spent celebrating a friends birthday in a private dining room in The Saddle Room
I would have liked to hear some background Christmas music and see some more festive decorations.
The desserts were disappointing, tasteless and shop bought.
The bottled water was overly priced at 8Euro per bottle.
