Full atmosphere. Expensive yet unimpressive wine list. Food no better than Average with only one of four starters the Tuna tartar being truely innovative.
Service very unremarkable
Average meal at best
We haven't been to the Source for a few years. We always enjoyed the food and the ambience, but it's gotten even better over time. The modern décor is exciting, the service was excellent, and the food was first rate. We ordered 6 appetizers and 2 sides for three people (we didn't order any main courses), and there was plenty of food to take home at the end. Everything was superb except the scallion pancakes, which could have used more spices. We particularly enjoyed the lobster and beet dumplings, the drunken noodles, the stir-fried mushrooms, and the spicy tuna tartar cones, all of which were outstanding.
The food was just delicious.
It was a really fine meal from start to finish with gracious service.
As always, The Source never fails to disappoint. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful.
It was good.
Great service! Amazing food!
This restaurant is next to the Newseum. It has modern decor. Business casual attire is recommended but most tourists who were there did not adhere to that. Service was superb. We had 2 vegetarian appetizers: pot stickers and scallion bread which were excellent and innovative. For some reason, had chirashi as main course which was dumb. It was good but there’s not much room to innovate there. I did taste someone else’s vegetarian fried rice and it was good with authentic SE Asian flavor (no mistaking it if you know what I mean). The wine list was good but price was too premium compared to other comparable restaurants.
Delicious Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Beautifully prepared Asian food. Lots of flavor. The soft shell crab sandwich was so good and the dumplings - yummy! Probably one of the best so far on our holiday. Will go again definitely and for lunch you can get tickets to the Newseum which is so interesting. A nice afternoon in DC.
Good experience as usual.
Very excellent food, service from start to ending. Wolfgang Puck The Source is a great place you will return, we did!*
The Source has once again changed its menu and it is definitely a HUGE improvement. I LOVE LOVE LOVED it when it first opened - the original menu was DIVINE! Then someone wrote an article about restaurants that hadn't changed their flavor over a period of time and the menu was adjusted, to the disappointment of my friends and I who frequented the place on am almost weekly basis. We knew the hosts, servers and bartenders very well until the menu change. Now it is BACK and better than ever. Great job Wolfgang Puck! LOVE IT!
Nice bar experience while waiting for our table, Sean was our bar server. Dinner was quite good with superb service.
The air vent was blowing on us constantly, and we were freezing. We asked the waitstaff to take care of the issue, but they responded that it was a central air issue. They should have offered to move us to a different table—instead we ate and got out of there as soon as possible.
Food was impressive however a bit on the salty side. Service was good.
Our server Jorge did a wonderful job: cheerful, solicitous and efficient. And with a good sense of humor as well!
Would also like to note Mohammed who has served us in the past and has always been polite, attentive and friendly.
Overall, really appreciated the care taken to help us celebrate my niece's graduation from High School.
This place is nothing short of amazing! The service was absolutely phenomenal. I went home thinking about the entire ambiance. Thank you!
Love this place. Great staff, amazing ambiance and the food is beyond stellar!!!!!!
It was a birthday dinner and it was perfect setting for the occasion.
What a great find! I googled “best carrot cake in DC” because we were celebrating my son’s girlfriend’s birthday and she loves carrot cake. Boy were we in for a treat! Not only the best carrot cake ever, but the food was amazing and our server Anton was extremely helpful with the menu and a delight to chat with! Will most certainly return!
Birthday, its so expensive.
Plus the ploy of offering “3” appetizers ensures One had to pay more for the 4th...
Wonderful menu, great service. Always a favorite. Hoping to visit again soon.
Amazing menu, service and quality from start to finish.
Best dim sum anywhere!!! Imaginative, tasty and lovely to look at and eat.
my one word for this restaurant is: civilized. You system wants me to write more. I thought in this case, less was more.
We thoroughly enjoyed The Source. The entire staff was extremely attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. Chef Russell's creations were outstanding!! It was our anniversary and no detail was left undone. We highly recommend that if you get the chance to visit DC that you do not pass up the opportunity to dine at this outstanding establishment.
Went back after several years during which we never considered the menu interesting because the current menu seemed to have changed for the better with a new head chef. We loved what we saw now on the menu. Our evening was great and we felt the restaurant was as good as when it opened more than 10 years ago. The food was delicious, including starters of a platter of mixed sushi and sashimi and a scallion vegetable pancake which was like a thin crusted pizza only with an asian flair. As mains, we had a halibut and chicken, both done with Asian flavors and served with fried rice and vegetables. Each dish had a distinct asian flavor and was delicious. Our waiter was excellent, being attentive but not interrupting our dinner or conversation with the ubiquitous question of "is everything fine"?
It was wonderful - the service is outstanding - Jorge is the most attentive, fantastic server & Russell's food is outstanding!
Food was outstanding. Service excellent and not too loud which is usually the case. Will definitely return!
Fantastic evening! Thank you for making this so special.
One of the best !
The Impossible Potsticker are a must try!!
This is my second time going there for brunch. The first time I went with friends to
Celebrate a birthday and we received excellent service. I was so impressed I asked my husband to take me there for Mother’s Day. We were both dissapointed with our server. She seemed stressed and hurried.
The reason why I choose restaurants like the source on special occasion is because I know
I’m going to receive excellent service. This will make me apprehensive about going there on special occasions.
We ordered appetizers; tiger shrimp & carrot dumplings (excellent with a spicy chili oil), crispy duck (delicious) and potstickers (lovely) when THE Wolfgang Puck walks up to the table and greets us. He talked for awhile about the restaurant and gave us some tips on dinner. I had the wok-fried whole bronzing and it was amazing. I would eat anything fried in a wok, but this from presentation, aroma and taste was completely outstanding. My friends Amish chicken was bland (I told him it would be, but had to have it). Another got the scallops and they were perfect (he didn’t share, but continued to tell us how wonderful they were...his last dinner invitation 😬).
Outstanding service, food and presentation is this restaurant. Don’t let the address fool you definitely a must try
Celebrated our Anniversary and had a great meal! The attention to detail by the staff made it special. The menus said “Happy Anniversary!!!” at the top & on our dessert plate. Service was attentive and kind.
My buddy from college days was in town recently and I thought what better place to meet for dinner than The Source - always reliable, and my favorite DC restaurant. We both had a terrific time catching up over a delicious meal. We were greeted warmly and started off the evening with delicious, light scallion buns. Our waiter, Juan, was very helpful pointing out some treats from the new menu. Appetizers of Suckling Pig and Impossible Dumplings tasted great and were beautifully presented. For main courses, my friend enjoyed his Chirashi Bowl, and I was very impressed with my Halibut that is poached in fragrant chili oil and comes with crab fried rice and spring vegetables.
This is a wonderful restaurant with great people who work as a tight team. Juan, our waiter, provided friendly service and timed the meal perfectly. Between courses, Evan Moore, the Source's very personable General Manager, stopped by to introduce himself since this was my first visit since he took on his new role. Chef Russell Smith also visited our table to say hello and see how we enjoyed our meal. They both made us feel right at home.
We ended our evening with a light dessert and cappuccino. All in all, great dining in a wonderful light-filled environment that provides views of the local area. The food and the service are excellent and highly recommended.
It was a most excellent location for a business lunch
Had a great meal at The Source. Each dish was creative and delicious. The cocktails and wine were great as well. Make a reservation if you’re in the area.
Seafood, Asian, Spice, FLAVOR! All mixed together makes for a phenomenal evening. There is meat on the menu, but we were more in the mood for seafood which was available in abundance. One of our group is vegetarian and the waiter went out of his way to point out vegetarian dishes and those which could be made vegetarian. Food is somewhat spicy - though I am certain they would tone it down if requested. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and appropriately attentive. My only regret is I could only eat one appetizer, main and dessert! Everything merited a taste! We will be back for sure.
Food is amazing, my server Alvaro is so good, however please consider the front desk person.. his attitude really made me felt angry
Jorge is the best — the food is of course excellent but we come back for Jorge!
