Our table wasn’t ready until 25 minutes after the time of our reservation. Our server, Kim, was fantastic. The food was ok. Our appetizers were lukewarm, and the food was ok, not as good as I had hoped. Cocktails were great.

The food ws great, especially that clam chowder!! The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the wine glasses are so pretty. However, the star of the show was our server, Kim. She was so welcoming and sweet. She checked back often, always wore a smile and was just a pleasure to be around.

We usually eat next door at ale Mary’s which is amazing. Decided to try Tom’s and we are glad we did. The service was amazing. Kim is a rock star. The food and drinks were amazing. Will be back for sure.

Great experience! We were seated immediately and the server was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is very cozy. It’s a little noisy but not so loud that you can’t have a conversation. The tuna tartare, bourbon glazed scallops, and lobster roll were all good.

We had a lovely evening with a wonderful server. We had tuna tartar, crab cakes, and fried oyster apps. My husband enjoyed his fettuccine Alfredo, my brother enjoyed the sushi, and I had soft shell crab…yum. They were able to accommodate my brother’s large motorized wheelchair. We’ll be back!

We had the Alaskan crab legs. They were delicious!!! I highly recommend Tom’s. Our selection was pricey but the going rate for crab legs were reasonable.

A big disappoint for my birthday dinner. Opinion by item: oysters Rockefeller - fair, warm lobster bisque - fair, warm lobster fries - lobster chunks were tiny and fried way too hard; they were more like crumbles of croutons, warm crab egg rolls - minimal meat/mostly filling, cold steak - cooked at right temp; fatty, cold The wait for food and service was ridiculously slow. None of the food was hot. Our drinks were really the only redeeming quality. By the time I received my cheesecake with sparklers, I was sad. I couldn't enjoy it.

Oysters weren’t available, literally the only thing we came for. Decided to order entrees anyway, and that was a big mistake. Entree first was missing a main ingredient, Alaskan King Crab! Server then sent entree back to the kitchen and upon returning we both just stared at the plate. Literally was served 1oz crumbs of “Alaskan King Crab” sprinkled on top of 4 shrimp. It literally looked like shredded Parmesan how little the sprinkle was. Ordered seafood po boy and it used to be an absolute favorite, this time it lacked flavor and basic seasoning. Not sure if the cooks were tired or simply just rushing but it altered my whole experience of my once “favorite place”. Highly disappointed.

Had a great date night here! We've been here a lot and it never fails to impress us. We ordered lobster rolls, calamari, and crab w/ salmon, and key lime pie! All of it was so good! Keep up the great work, Tom's!

We dined on September 30th at 6:30pm, and were a party of 3. Our server's name was Natasha (not sure if that is exactly correct). It took awhile to get our drinks, I had ordered a dirty martini w/blue cheese stuffed olives, and it did not have any "dirty" in it. It was "clearly" all vodka. When we placed the orders for our main courses, I asked her if she could have the bartender add a dash or two more olive juice to my drink because it was too strong and she responded that she would bring some out to me. I then asked her to bring me a glass of the Rodney Strong cab before my main course came out. Our other appetizers and salad took quite a while to come out; and the "beefsteak" tomato salad for $12 was very disappointing. I paid $12 for 4 small slices of tomato (not beefsteaks), with a couple of dollops of blue cheese dressing, and a very small amount of greens with red onions. I kept waiting for the additional olive juice for my dirty martini - it never came. Our main courses came out, and there was no sign of the glass of wine that I had requested. The server finally came back over to check on us, and I asked her to bring the glass of wine. She looked with surprise and said it would be right out. A few minutes later, a different server came over to tell us that our server was putting in the order for the glass of wine and asked me what I had ordered. How surprising! I would expect the server that took our order to have come back over and apologized for the oversight to ask what I had ordered. It took far too long for the measly pour of wine to come back to our table, and then again quite a while for her to come check on us again so that we could get our check and carry out containers. Our server appeared to be in pain, limping when she walked, due to that we did not complain to her, and we did tip her a good amount still. Overall, not a great experience for a bill that was $300, including tip.

Very nice vibe sitting on the street side. We both had the filet medallions- cooked to perfection. Kim was provided friendly and timely service in the middle of a Friday night rush.

We were a group of eight adults ranging in age from 21 to 93 years old. The restaurant is very good at accommodating food allergies, specifically ours was gluten and dairy. Every one of us in our group, enjoyed our food immensely. We will definitely be back.

Food and cocktails were really good and fairly priced. The waitstaff was not friendly. At all. Our server didn’t even tell us her name. It was our anniversary, and I put that in our reservation….they didn’t care/say anything. Table was small uncomfortable in a corner at the front…We felt like we were a nuisance and were not looking to stay any longer than necessary. Wouldn’t come back for a special occasion…maybe for a random dinner if we were in the area but would likely just pick somewhere else.

I greatly appreciate Tom's Oyster Bar-Royal Oak allowing patrons to reserve tables, without a credit card, on Open Table! Nice! Unlike some other restaurants in Royal Oak who want $25 to make a reservation and then penalize you with this cost if you don't show up or are late. My only complaint/suggestion is to try to lower your costs of drinks and meals. Thank you!

Service was excellent and so was the Spanish coffee. They had a lobster Bruschetta as a special, which was very light on the lobster. We also each had the Lobster bisque, which had good flavor. We split the Lobster Seafood Paella, and this is really what brings my rating down. The lobster tail that came with it was cooked beautifully and seasoned well! The muscles and shrimp had no flavor to them. The rice was bland, overcooked, and slightly watery. The color of the rice was yellow, but there was no saffron flavor, or hint of any other seasoning, including salt. We chocked down the flavorless shrimp and muscles, but left the rice. I wouldn’t expect a perfect, traditional paella form a seafood restaurant, but this dish was very disappointing, especially for the price.

We normally have a great time at Tom’s. The evening didn’t start well. Part of our party checked in early and didn’t like the original table. After asking the waitress to move, they started to move to another table. The second group was walking in mid move. The hostess literally freaked out, started circling her face with her hand and repeating multiple times “Excuse me, I’m the hostess”. No apologies for the extreme response. Later as food came out, there was a clear mix up and fish tacos were being served when someone ordered a large fish and chips. Almost everyone was done with dinner when the fish and chips came out. Then when we received the bill, the fish and chips and the fish tacos were on the bill. Needless to say, the multiple issues definitely marred a usually great restaurant experience at Tom’s.

I had a most pleasant lunch at Tom's, meeting up with an old colleague from the past. We sat inside by the window and had a great talk and reminisced on the past. Our waiter recognized that we were there to talk and gave us the space and time to chat. When is came time to order we listened to his suggestions and ordered. Meal was great, I thought a fair value and our waiter couldn't have more accommodating and friendly. Great job Tom's!

Tom's never disappoints! Our table was next to the street, mixing the traffic noise with the bustle of the pedestrian flow. Erica was fantastic, quick with the repartee and tasty drinks. The table shared a delicious platter of oysters with Eel Lake being my favorite. Sushi rolls were spot on as were the Fish and Chips. It is very difficult to maintain a good quality level in the restaurant business, especially for all the years Tom's has been around, but they pull it off.

Five of us arrived early for our reservation and were seated immediately. Service was very good, food and drink were tasty and reasonable. Noise level was high and seating uncomfortable. Would go back and recommend to others.
