This place never disappoints. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is great. I have been here many times over the years but it is fun to bring new people and have them try the bone in veal chop. It always impresses.
First class....did not expect to find a restaurant near Dulles Airport of this quality.
Highly recommend the mussels appetizer, chicken piccata and the scampi. We were so full after our meal that we ordered tiramisu to go... And we're looking forward to enjoying it with coffee tomorrow!
Made an off menu request, and it was outstanding.
We celebrated my daughter's birthday on a Saturday night. The food was phenomenal - lobster, scallops, shrimp and mussels with pasta for $36. It was a special that night. Two choices of sauces. All three of us had it and loved it. Everything was perfect. Mussels and octopus for appetizers and a tartuffo for dessert. Couldn't have been a better dinner.
Yummy! Great quality food and tasty from appetizer through desert. Welcome and inviting atmosphere
This restaurant is a favorite for my husband and I. We try to go for lunch at least once a month or so.
The ambiance is wonderful, the food is excellent and the service is top notch. Some of our favorites are veal picatta, eggplant parm and Shrimp Monte Cristo. Good portion size but almost always have enough to take some home
This visit was to introduce a good friend to this great place to eat and it did not disappoint.
We’ve lived in Herndon for 17 years and this was our first visit! Very impressed with service and food. We will be back again for sure!
For me, its always been a good place to eat. I’ve been a patron for eons and have never been disappointed in food, service, atmosphere or value.
Food and service is amazing! Decor could use some updating.
We love Zeffirelli’s. The food is always great and we love the atmosphere and service. Can’t say we have ever had a bad meal or bad service.
Food was delicious, ambiance was comfortable with some fancy/formal mixed in. Service was wonderful. We had a lovely time, and were glad that we went there for dinner.
Food was good but service was very slow due to the Valentine Day rush
Was very nice. Feels homey in a classy way. The staff are all very nice, and have a kind of old world service. The prices for the Valentine’s special seemed a bit high, but that is their right.
Unfortunately our experience was not a positive one. We went for Valentine's day. My Mom and I ordered the cheese ravioli for dinner. As soon as my mom and I bit into the ravioli we thought it tasted like seafood. We said something to the waiter and he was incredulous. When I ate the second ravioli I tasted a difference and could see the difference. The seafood filled ravioli were a peach color and the cheese filled ravioli were a white color. I was finally able to show the waiter the difference in the ravioli at the end of the meal. He then believed us and took both meals off the check. The waiter definitely lacked customer service skills. We did encounter other people that worked for the restaurant that were pleasant.
This is one of the best hidden gem places I’ve ever found anywhere in the mid-atlantic region to date. The staff is amazing, the food is great, and the location is close enough to Signiture Flight Support for a quality meal before flying out (without rushing around at all).
Went day before Valentines Day to beat the rush! Had not been in over 10 years and after dinner regretted waiting so long to return! Food was excellent - service was excellent. Great choices on menu but we each had a special fish dish of the night. Have to return soon to order some pasta off the menu.
Still one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area.
The service was very, very good. The quality of the food was above average to great depending upon what you ordered. The seafood linguine special I ordered was very good but the eggplant Parmesan was just ok. I would go back to this place for the quality of service alone.
I have been here for business dinners a number of times. First time for my wife to join me. We both thought it was very good, wine selection was strong and the service was attentive without being hovering. We will be back.
Always great food and atmosphere with excellent service but not rushed.
In Reston, VA on business and the manager of the Marriott Washington Dulles Suites suggested Zeffirelli's. It was wonderful. There were 5 of us dining and everyone enjoyed their meal. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent food. We will go back!
Perfection. They recommended the bone in veal chop and it did not disappoint. I was mopping up the jus with the bread. The only complaint I had was that the night had to end
There was a quiet buzz of chatter with beautiful decor and amazingly flavorful food. The desert had a perfect sweetness and the rest of the meal had savory written all over it.
I had been here a few years ago, and it was very good, but we weren't thrilled with this visit. We were seated in a very tight corner next to a rowdy and crowded group of businessmen - and we were probably one of 4 other parties in the dining area, so there was plenty of room.
The meals were just okay. I asked if the ravioli was housemade and if the pasta was doughy - I was assured it was housemade and very thin. It may have been made there, but it was doughy. My friend's chicken parm was average.
Overall, it was overpriced, and there are better options for local Italian cuisine.
Great place for small group dining too
I ate at Zeffirelli for a business dinner on a Wednesday evening and could not have been more impressed. I had been looking for a cozy, delicious, neighborhood Italian restaurant and am happy to say, I've found it! We arrived on the earlier side (5:30pm) but even as the place began to fill up, our service never lacked and the volume of the open dining space did not become overwhelming. We each enjoyed a different dish with pesto sauce (cheese ravioli for me, potato gnocchi for my guest) and were very happy with the quality of our dishes and the flexibility of the restaurant to adjust some ingredients based on preferences - our server (Moses) also asked specifically about food allergies, which I always find respectful and considerate. Bonus: Moses told us the paintings hanging on the walls of the restaurant are his! (they were so lovely!). All in all, wonderful Italian food, and the service, price, and ambiance are all worth another visit in the near future.
Food and service were excellent and they have gluten free pasta !
Always a great dining experience. Love the food, service and ambiance.
Nice local Italian restaurant, good food, decent prices, attentive wait staff. Gets crowded at dinner time; if you can eat later, it clears out quickly and is quieter. They need to re-stuff the dining room chairs!
Since Il Forniao closed in Reston we were delighted to find this Italian restaurant and have come several times. The food is fresh and excellent, portions generous. However, this time we had our two well behaved young grandchildren ( 6 & 8) with us and I was surprised at how kid unfriendly this place is. No childs menu - like really? This is an Italian restaurant! Every kid loves Italian! After asking what they would recommend, the waiter said they could make whatever we wanted...They did spaghetti and meatballs. It was just ok. For dessert the kids wanted ice cream. we asked for one scoop, and they brought a big adult size bowl - the same as they brought for us! The waiter also never came around to ask the adults (6 of us) if we wanted another cocktail. I am very disappointed in this place and will be looking for another more attentive Italian restaurant.
Authentic Italian, known for there veal. Had blackened tuna with asparagus and chicken with mushrooms in a cream sauce, both were lunch specials and supurb. There coffee/Expresso is awesome. Great way to chill for lunch and great for a special event in the evening.
An old standby. A local Italian restaurant with good atmosphere. This is a "romantic" Italian vice "loud" Italian, meaning you'll really stick out if you dine here alone. I had the veal chop, which is pricey but nice to get occasionally because it is very good. Otherwise the pricing is reasonable.
Food was very good, but very pricy for Italian cuisine. Salad does not come with any entrée, and some do not come with pasta either. With salad puts entrees over $30-35. Way too high for this type of cuisine. $4.00 for a side of pasta??
Zeffirelli's is a long time staple in Herndon....Been going for years....It Never disappoints!!!
When you want fine Italian in an unpretentious but upscale setting; This is a superb restaurant.
Food was great - tables are too close - you can’t not listen to your neighbor or be at ease with your own conversation.
Superb cuisine, attentive, friendly service and a classic atmosphere in a neighborhood establishment. Nothing institutional about this vintage culinary treasure.
We always love returning to Zeffirelli's and it has never failed us. I had salmon that was perfectly cooked. Bob had the seafood special with lobster and mussels, and did that look delish! He thoroughly enjoyed it! Karen had the ravioli and I didn't think she'd finish it, but she did and loved them, of course! She's very petite! Greg had the veal scallopini and he said it was very good.
Consistently high quality food. I particularly love their Shrimp dishes. We have been returning to Zefferelli's for many years and have never been disappointed. I give Zefferelli's 4 vs. 5 stars due to the lack of new/interesting specials of the day.
Zeffirellis is a long time Herndon institution located in a historic building in downtown Herndon. Very attentive wait staff. Food priced on high side, but is delicious. Some meal options cost $45 and $55 each, the house specialties. Appetizers are around $15 each. Saw many folks with family, some with biz suits / dresses. I would not visit dressed too casual. Plenty of free parking nearby. Bar, but very limited seating. Don't get a table near the front door during the winter time, we felt cold breezes coming in during our entire evening. Many selections of wine.
