    This is a lovely welcoming country pub that is clearly making a real success as a restaurant whilst still having a well stocked proper bar. We visited for lunch, three of us, and were immediately shown to a table. Everything was calm. Because of the heat, it was 36c, we didn’t want a large meal so instead had starters followed by a pud; in each case, a small but interesting choice. They were excellent. As drinks, one had a spritzer whilst the other two a low alcohol, 0.5%, IPA which was on tap and tasted like real beer. Perfect. So, we’ll be back.

    A cream tea for nine ladies celebrating a 70th birthday (with a lovely assortment of sandwiches for the non scone diners) was extremely enjoyable. The staff were so kind and helpful and the food was delicious. Thank you.
