Best Chinese Restaurants in Chemainus

Our second visit to The Fishman reminded us why this place is such a gem. The menu changes daily based on whatever seafood comes in fresh, and that spontaneity is exactly what makes dining here fun — you never know what the ocean is offering that day. This time, they happened to have razor clams, which are rare to see done well. We ordered the fish of the day along with the clams, and both dishes were steamed and finished with ginger, scallion, and their signature aged soy sauce. The cooking was spot‑on: • The fish was perfectly steamed — tender, clean, and naturally sweet. • The razor clams were equally well executed, with just the right bite. • The aged soy sauce tied everything together beautifully. It added depth and savoriness without ever overpowering the seafood’s freshness. It’s the kind of meal that feels simple on the surface but shows real skill in restraint and technique. If you love seafood prepared with respect and precision, The Fishman is absolutely worth returning to — and we definitely will.

Food is unique & outstanding. Our service by Jordan was wonderful, he even explained the dishes to my family both in Cantonese & English. We wasn’t sure what to get except preorder our Peking Duck in advance. Jordan recommended us a couple of options which all were fabulous & delicious. Make sure you try the Asian style desserts too, don’t wanna miss that. Overall we were very delighted to have dinner at this place traveling all the way from Arizona. Jordan told us that there is a plan to open one in Scottsdale later. Can’t wait 🙏😇

Great service, we were welcomed immediately and seated at our table quickly. Our round table had a lazy Susan spinner so it was wonderful to order family style, and our party of 11 was able to enjoy a multitude of dishes. Not all of their tables have this feature, but I really like that we did. The food quality was top-notch and came quickly, but in stages so that we weren't overwhelmed with all of our food at once. I wish we had pre-ordered the roasted duck. Had I known we would be eating family style I definitely would've done this beforehand. They had texted me asking if we wanted to pre-order the roasted duck but we declined and I regret it. The cocktails and other drinks were good and they checked in with us to make sure we had all we needed. Our table also had a beautiful view of the harbor, directly overlooking the water and a lot of other tables at the restaurant have a similar view. The bill was a little bit on the expensive side, but it was a wonderful meal for the 11 of us so I still say it was worth it. Definitely recommend.

Food was outstanding and the selection was great and dishes very innovative and sooo delicious. Enjoyable experience.
