- DDanielleNew York City •1 review5.0Dined 6 days agoMeama was excellent. I would call this creative and modern Georgian cuisine. The crispy duck rolls were amazing. I generally find duck too strong, but these were light and crispy with a wonderful spicy red sauce. The Pkhali Trio might have had the best carrot pkhali I've ever had (and I have been to Tbilisi, Kakheti, and Batumi). The signature khachapuri with honey, pear slices, and Roquefort was worth taking the trip off my usual khachapuri path. My fiancé loved his Cornish hen with blackberry sauce, and our niece and nephew loved the lamb shank. I had the lamb tarragon stew, which was also really good. The tarragon was fresh, peppery, and a nice foil for the lamb broth. We were too full for dessert, lol. The sangria with saperavi was excellent - it had a lovely hint of rose water. Special note: They have jonjoli (bladdernut) on their burgers. I love a well-prepared jonjoli salad. Since I didn't get a burger, they were kind enough to give me a little bowl to try. O. M. G. The jonjoli was amazing. Truly excellent. I wish they sold it separately.More infoMEAMA Georgian Kitchen and Wine Bar$$$$• Georgian• East Village•4.4
