This place specializes in soba and tempura. My advice: don’t get a set menu. Order a few tempura items a la carte, and skip the rest.

The chef was great, very welcoming, explained each food item (we had the Omakase) and the food was delicious.

We found this omakase on TikTok while planning for our trip. This place is not viral (yet) by any means. It just so happened that a creator recommended them on their videos and we are so glad we booked here. The owners are super sweet and attentive to the entire experience. Not only was the food excellent, they made sure to explain and teach us about the different sushi pieces but gave us more recommendations for places to visit during our trip. Highly recommend and definitely worth traveling all the way from Mexico!

One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had in Japan! The course menu was absolutely incredible, with exceptional Kobe beef and equally amazing vegetarian options. It’s rare to find a restaurant where both meat eaters and vegetarians can enjoy such an outstanding experience. The service was impeccable, and our drink selections were just as impressive. Tucked away on a quiet backstreet, the restaurant opens up into a beautiful, intimate space surrounded by gorgeous bonsai trees. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service was top-notch. Highly, highly recommend, especially if you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience that caters to both vegetarians and meat lovers!

Great dinner for our family in Christmas Eve. We were running late and they nicely held our table. This felt like a local restaurant and very authentic. Delicious meal

This place was recommended by the chef of another yakitori restaurant which was not open while we were in Tokyo visiting. And it did not disappoint. It’s in the basement level of a building and very lively from the moment you enter. The mood is convivial, a nice change from some of the upscale sushi places. We had the basic set course menu which was plenty of food. Everything was tasty and it was fun to try all the different parts of a chicken. Would recommend to anyone!

Great Japanese BBQ restaurant down a side alley in the Akasaka region. A little hard to find as owners have changed their banners out front to blue. Little English spoken and no English menu but Foggle translator saved the day. Food is excellent quality and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back.

Our first time with shabu shabu and our experience could not have been better. A little difficult to find, but you are welcomed with a big smile and wonderful service. Excellent menu choices, we went with one of the Wagyu beef and one with pork. Multiple courses for both. Appetizers/starters are wonderful then we came to the main course for shabu shabu. It took a few minutes to cook the vegetables and they were delicious. When we added the meats, it would only take a few seconds to deliver a very tasty morsel. Two dipping sauces – we both favored the sesame, which was delicious. After dinner, the rice porridge was an excellent treat, all topped off with homemade ice cream. Excellent menu with meal choices, wine, whiskey, and beer choices, and absolutely terrific service. I’m not sure if we can find another shabu shabu that is better but if you are in Tokyo, you must come here!

This was our 1st time in Tokyo & were excited to try authentic Japanese cuisine! We were staying in Shibuya & wanted somewhere walking distance nearby. By chance, we booked Kappo Sanoya...it's located on a quiet street on the lower level of a small building, but don't let it's humble appearance fool you! Inside was a master Chef ready to create, educate & entertain his few guests (it holds 8 people max per sitting) Chef Masayuki Sano meticulously prepared each unique dish...we couldn't wait to try each one! The sake pairings were spot on matching without overpowering the dishes. We enjoyed our meal so much that while we were still there, we booked for the next night too! He amazed us again with a whole new menu! We feel blessed to experience top quality true Japanese cuisine! Arigato Chef 😋

If you want Japanese authentic Oden style, this place might be not for you. However, if you want fusion Oden style, I highly recommend this place. Restaurant is located in house so it like french restaurant style that used to convert old house to be restaurant. Environment is made you feel like you dining in french restaurant. Oden soup is quite heavy tease for me. Also, it has only set menu and you can’t order more but during my visit, Tokyo was under state of emergency so every restaurant has to close early. I am don’t know that for normal time they have a la carte to order or not.
