Best Modern Tuscan Restaurants in Torrita di Siena

Was the most memorable experience of our stay in Florence in the most beautiful setting on the rooftop of The Excelsior Hotel. It was most certainly the place to watch a beautiful sunset over the city of Florence. Fabulous food and drinks, and although it was extremely pricey, for a special occasion it was absolutely perfect. There are a lot of staff all of whom seem to serve you, which makes things a little slow at time, but we were celebrating my brothers' 60th birthday and it was wonderful evening of celebrations. I am SO GLAD my family and I got to experience this up and coming gem of a restaurant! We had been recommended to another restaurant closer to our apartment by family friends before visiting Firenze. The other restaurant was slow to respond to our request for a reservation, so I look ed at a few places online and selected La Carbonata because of its good reviews. Our evening could not have been better. It was quiet, rustic, and we were seated immediately. Our reservation was for 8:15. The hostess assisted the gentleman who was our primary server, and both were most pleasant. The gentleman was helpful making recommendations for antipasti and first courses—not to mention understanding and patient with our ignorance as Americans. Food selections were FANTASTIC!! Main courses (mostly steaks for our family of 6) were exceptional as well. My personal highlight was the local red wine our server chose to accompany my meal. Easily one of the best red wines I’ve ever had. As we finished the meal and settled the bill, our server (who obviously spoke very good English) and I just talked for a couple of minutes as our family made its way out. Turns out he was the owner! Even more special. I cannot over state my recommendation for dinner here. La Carbonata!! Grazie mille, Luigi! CIBO FANTASTICO!!

We had a great experience when we dined for dinner! We read through other reviews and noticed the Florentine steak was highly recommended so we chose to go with it. Our server brought out a beautiful large thick t-bone raw to present, it was then served shortly after rare and we were told we could let it continue to rest on the hot plate for further cooking. The steak was sliced into large pieces and it was phenomenal! My mom had the grilled shrimp which was 4 large head on prawns and she said this dish too was great! We also tried a pasta dish, everything was very good and the service was great too!

The restaurant is spectacular. The food is elegant, more like Italian food in New York or London, not Tuscany. The restaurant is extremely cute with the town incredible. The views after dinner were amazing. This is a triple header - great place, great restaurant, great food. We will be back soon !
