Best Soul Food Restaurants in Galleria / Uptown

This was my boyfriend and I’s first time at Taste Kitchen! My goodness the server was amazing and the food was out of this world good! Definitely will be back!! We were celebrating our 1 year anniversary, and we ordered frozen drinks (which were STRONG and delicious) we were sat upstairs which allowed us to look at the street below and kinda people watch. We ordered the lobster bites which had calcified butter and spicy Tatar sauce! Soooo yummy! Then we ordered the Taste of Soul, I think it was called, I ordered it with oxtails and my bf ordered it with chicken. My goodness the waffle biscuit was delicious! The greens we both didn’t care for as they were really sweet and just not for us. Everything was beautiful and we were stuffed on our way out! We will definitely be back!!

This was my first time visiting with my family. I made an 11:45 am reservation for 4 to celebrate 2 birthdays. The front desk hosts didn’t have a greeting and we waited about 7-10 minutes to be seated after checking in on time. Our waiter was attentive and informative about the menu and everything he recommended was great ⭐️. We ordered the sweet potato French toast, lamb chops, catfish with grits, and a French toast sandwich. Every meal was truly a 10/10, the first bites were impressive. I added the birthday celebrations on the reservation, no one acknowledged it and we also didn’t remember to state it but I think it should have been seen from the system that was being used compared to other restaurants. Hosts should also have a more welcoming presence and communication. Other than that everything was good and I plan to visit again to try other menu items

The food was delicious and overall it was a relaxed adult vibe. The music playlist was awesome and the service was great. The manager came around and gave some history of the establishment which made it even more interesting. Will definitely be dining here again.

I had a great experience at KISS! The atmosphere was nice, the food was delicious, and the service made the visit enjoyable. Everything was well presented, and it was a great place to enjoy a meal. I would definitely recommend KISS to anyone looking for a good dining experience, and good music.
