It just so happened that a creator recommended them on their videos and we are so glad we booked here. The owners are super sweet and attentive to the entire experience. Not only was the food excellent, they made sure to explain and teach us about the different sushi pieces but gave us more recommendations for places to visit during our trip. We were staying in Shibuya & wanted somewhere walking distance nearby. By chance, we booked Kappo Sanoya...it's located on a quiet street on the lower level of a small building, but don't let it's humble appearance fool you! Inside was a master Chef ready to create, educate & entertain his few guests (it holds 8 people max per sitting) Chef Masayuki Sano meticulously prepared each unique dish...we couldn't wait to try each one! The sake pairings were spot on matching without overpowering the dishes. We enjoyed our meal so much that while we were still there, we booked for the next night too! And it did not disappoint. It’s in the basement level of a building and very lively from the moment you enter. The mood is convivial, a nice change from some of the upscale sushi places. We had the basic set course menu which was plenty of food. Everything was tasty and it was fun to try all the different parts of a chicken.
