Best Authentic Restaurants in Almada

Wonderful off the beaten path restaurant in Lisbon. The service was very attentive without being overbearing. The seafood risotto was fantastic…fresh mussels, calamari, and prawns over a generous helping of risotto in a creamy tomato sauce. The bruschetta appetizer was equally delicious. The restaurant is cozy and quaint. There’s a nice selection of wines and a full bar. Definitely recommend.

151 Da Rosa was such a beautiful, intimate restaurant on Rua da Rosa in Lisbon’s Bairro Alto neighborhood. We made a last-minute decision to eat near our hotel, and luckily they had availability within 15–30 minutes, so we booked it right away. When we arrived about 15–20 minutes early, the restaurant was already packed, so we grabbed a quick drink next door and came back for our reservation. The atmosphere was warm and lively, and it was clear this is a place people genuinely enjoy. The host/main waiter was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He was handling a full restaurant but still made sure every table felt attended to. The owner or manager was also so kind and personable, took an interest in us and gave excellent recommendations. We started with the duck rice appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. I had a salted cod/bacalhau-style dish with beautiful vegetables, and my partner ordered a meat dish. Everything was fantastic, especially paired with a white wine from a nearby region. The service was amazing from start to finish, and the whole experience felt special. You can tell both locals and travelers come here for a great meal based on how busy it gets. We would absolutely recommend 151 Da Rosa and can’t wait to come back on our next trip to Lisbon.

This is a “tasting menu” and we also had the wine pairings. If you’re adventurous and willing to let a refined and sophisticated chef and staff pick the food courses and wine pairings for you, you won’t be disappointed! An outstanding meal and experience in a very nice place. Loved it!
