Best Restaurants for Creative Cuisine in East Haddam

Overall it was a great experience. My only complaint was that my party of two was seated at the smallest of tables - barely room for our plates.

I will highly recommend The Mill on the River for an exceptional dinner experience. The menu offered a great selection of dishes. I started with the blackened scallops appetizer that was delicious. The main course did not disappoint—perfectly cooked, prime rib, well-seasoned, definitely not the prime rib served at most buffets. Service was another highlight. Our server Sandy, was attentive without being intrusive, she was knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely eager to enhance the dining experience. Food arrived promptly, and the pacing of the meal felt just right. Overall, this restaurant delivers not just great food, but a wonderful dining experience.

Wonderful breakfast! The waitress was very good, kept an eye on us but didn’t rush. I only wish they’d open for breakfast earlier than 10 AM. If they did, I think there would be way more patrons. The fact that they are open on Mondays and take reservations is great - I’ll be back for sure.

We had a truly exceptional dinner at Winvian. The food was exquisite from start to finish...beautifully prepared, thoughtful, and memorable without ever feeling fussy. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance: simple, elegant, warm, and quietly refined. The staff was outstanding as well...attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without being overly formal, and clearly proud of the experience they help create. Every detail felt considered. And of course, the setting is hard to beat. The farm itself is bucolic and peaceful, adding so much to the overall atmosphere. It made the entire evening feel special, relaxed, and unmistakably Connecticut. A wonderful dining experience all around.

Great place! The food was all spot on. Duck with a cherry sauce was phenomenal. The beef was also great. Mushroom side dish is not to be missed. Good portion size. Waiter was very attentive and did a great job as well.
