Best Family Style Restaurants in Downey / Norwalk / Santa Fe Springs

Quite simply my favorite restaurant in the world. I’m from Costa Rica, and every single time I travel to Los Angeles or Chicago, making a stop here is an absolute must and I go as many times as I possibly can. Excellent service. Cooking is well balanced, nuanced, and elegant. So are the cocktails. By the glass wines are nicely varied. Lovely collection of amari. One of my favorite Italian spots in LA along with Antico Nuovo and Chi Spacca.

Bavel never disappoints. All 5 of my guests I brought agreed it was their best meal of the year. The service is impeccable. The staff is all very knowledgeable as is the sommelier. The drinks were perfectly crafted with some unique twists. The food is amazing, simple dishes that are prepared to perfection, as well as some more complex dishes with unique spices to some. Great music as well. I cant recommend Bavel enough.

Manuela in LA’s Arts District was a highlight of our visit—terrific food and superb service. The barramundi sea bass and signature venison burger were outstanding. Don’t miss the Archie cocktail or the tequila with macerated yellow peppers. And coming from Southerners, trust us: the biscuits are to die for! We’d happily return.
