Best Lunch Restaurants in Horndon-on-the-Hill

Firstly, due to weather and the chance of a lift, we arrived an hour early! Not a problem, as long as you realise the kitchen does not open for half an hour, was the reaction. So we proceeded to order drinks, an entree of sourdough bread and settle down with the menu. Actually this is far from our first visit, it’s the second this year and we have been a least once a year for special occasions since they opened. Fish at 55 is the sort of restaurant where I will definitely try something for the first time, knowing that it will only be my personal taste, and not a problem with the food, if I do not like it. My wife and I both love the interesting, and sometimes novel to us, combination and presentation of the fish/seafood, with exciting sauces/dressings. My wife decided to select from the Set Lunch menu, while I, because a starter from the specials board caught my eye, went A La Carte. Both meals were faultless, and the Set menu really is excellent value, while I would class the A La Carte as very good value. My reason for this is we both had identical deserts, and mine was in effect nearly twice the price of my wife’s. That being said, the total bill was still quite acceptable . As always the service was very good, as we were the only 2 covers for most of our time there, our food was served remarkably fast, but even when busy we know their timing is very good. One small negative point, and this applies to many good restaurants , the selection of non alcoholic drinks is very limited, which is a little disappointing to a tee totaller.

Another excellent meal with great service. Steaks were cooked to perfection, and the chips were chunky, and delicious! Great Tiramisu to finish off with too. Good value and great food. Can thoroughly recommend Medusa and have already booked to return.

Amazing Monday night steak! Cracking little pub, under new management. If the new team keep producing meals as good as the one I ate, they'll go far! Tender steak, gorgeous fries, outstanding peppercorn sauce, and decent wine.

Opening night in new place was beautiful and the space is fantastic We are regularly eating there and the atmosphere was amazing Thank you
