My husband and I did the hibachi/teppanyaki experience. He had never done hibachi/teppanyaki before and was very reluctant to try it and do the whole experience, particularly since he hates sitting with other people and "peopling".
As an act of "rebellion", he ordered one of the more expensive options on the menu - the filet, scallops, and shrimp meal (which is also what I ordered, so the rebellion failed, lol). He also ordered 2 orders of egg rolls as an appetizer, thinking I would eat a few of them. The egg rolls were pretty good - I only tried half of one knowing I would have a ton of food coming later - and he scarfed the rest down, so I would say they were a win.
Then we got the soup course. I was expecting a little 8 oz cup of hot and sour soup. Nope. It was an entree-sized vat of hot and sour soup. I was only able to eat, maybe, a quarter of it or I wouldn't have had room for anything else. But, man, two thumbs up. It was both spicy and sour, just how I like it.
After that was the salad course. The ginger-garlic dressing was meh. Eat the salad if you like it. I chose not to waste stomach space on it.
Then was the main course/experience. Kevin, our grill master, was a blast. He made a lot of fire and you could tell he was having fun. After the fire portion of the show, he cooked everything to perfection. The fried rice was stupid good. The filet was phenomenal. The shrimp were succulent. The scallops were OK - they had a slight "old" flavor to them, which, granted, happens with a lot of scallops.
We also drank two large carafes - really, they're not that big - of the lychee sake. OMG, it was SO SMOOTHE. It was like drinking lychee juice. Definitely recommend. And it also chilled the husband out enough to enjoy the food and experience. Win!
So, overall, I'd give it a 9/10, with a point lost for the meh salad and the OK scallops.
I would definitely do this again. Don't know about my husband, though...
**Fingers crossed I can get him to go back!**
