During dinner hours, the entire restaurant is reserved for walk-ins. We do offer scheduled reservations for lunch and brunch, though they’re never required. The Lexington is more than a restaurant, it’s an institution. Located on the corner of Lexington Parkway and Grand Avenue, this St. Paul community was the most fashionable at the turn of the 19th century. The St. Paul elite lived just blocks away and the first electric trolley brought visitors up and down Grand Avenue. The Lexington opened in 1935, after the end of prohibition, and was a popular neighborhood bar to gather and socialize. Previously operating as a speakeasy, the expansive wood panels were perfect for hiding a little booze and one can only imagine the shenanigans going on beyond the hidden staircase behind the coat check. For decades following, The Lex, as it’s called by locals and enthusiasts alike, was the place to be seen; business dealings, cocktail hours, and milestone celebrations were a regular occurrence for St. Paul socialites.

    Great Restaurant week specials! All the food was outstanding, the staff accommodated a special request with kindness and superb execution, and the dining room was comfortably full and lively without being distracting. A wonderful, special date night.

    Good food, had a party of 8 and only 1 person did not care for their food. More of a personal preference than bad food. Dessert was excellent! Server Carolyn was friendly and efficient and they were very busy when we were there.

    It was our 42nd wedding anniversary. We requested seating in "the bar" and we were escorted to a cozy booth in their beautifully appointed lounge area, well beyond a "bar". I had the pan- seared halibut with a side of roasted mushrooms. Delicious! My wife had the always reliably tender filet, also delicious We were treated to a complimentary photogragh to commemorate the occasion and then an ice cream sundae! Wonderful evening! Thanks Lex!!
