We had a wonderful time at the Pegelhaus on a beautiful day sitting on the rivers edge. The service was great. We had the baked pollock and it was amazing. Perfectly prepared seasoned, fresh and delicious. Truly a memorable dining experience in a wonderful setting in a magical place in Germany. We would most definitely go back again and enjoy that dish.

Another highlight was the beautifully composed fish course, presented with vibrant sauces and thoughtful plating that reflects the restaurant’s commitment to both flavor and visual presentation. Dessert was simple and elegant: house-made ice cream topped with fresh berries, the perfect finish after a leisurely lunch overlooking the vineyards and the Rhine valley. Of course, the star of the experience is the wine. We enjoyed a Schloss Johannisberg Riesling Kabinett Rotlack 2023, which showcased everything that makes Rheingau Riesling so compelling—bright acidity, delicate fruit, and remarkable balance. Service was warm, attentive, and professional without ever feeling rushed. Combined with the panoramic vineyard views and historic setting of Schloss Johannisberg, it creates a dining experience that feels both relaxed and special. If you are exploring the Rheingau, this is a must-stop for lunch.
