££££•British•4.7(144)Set in the centre of the main street of the historic market town of Clitheroe, the Swan and Royal in a former coaching inn dating back to the 1830s.In its earlier years as a hostelry, it boasts guests both famous and some say infamous, in the local area and throughout the country. You can stay in rooms named after a selection of the most interesting of these people.
After the fire, the Swan and Royal has undergone a major refurbishment, keeping its original character and still making it a warm and friendly place to eat and drink.
During the day it is the ideal place to rest tired legs after walking round the market or the wide range of individual shops Clitheroe has to offer. At night it is a little more lively – being the centre of town makes it the centre of socialising!

We travelled an hour to go here for our anniversary meal as we’d heard amazing things about it, and it didn’t disappoint. The food is absolutely unreal! Genuinely the best food we’ve had for a really long time. The staff are so lovely, the restaurant itself is gorgeous. Honestly couldn’t recommend it enough!
