    Disappointing birthday experience – Would not recommend I booked Sexy Fish Manchester for my birthday, expecting a lovely evening, but unfortunately left extremely disappointed. Despite understanding that our late arrival reduced our table time, we felt rushed from the moment we sat down. We repeatedly asked for food menus but were only given drinks menus. We ended up waiting approximately 20 minutes just to receive the food menu, despite asking for it several times. When the waiter finally brought it, he immediately pressured us to order because we were on a “time crunch”, despite the delays being caused by the service itself. We were also charged a supposedly discretionary service charge, which the waiter claimed could not be removed because of the £75 minimum spend policy after 7pm. This was particularly frustrating as we had called beforehand and been assured that the minimum spend would not apply to our 6:45pm reservation. The worst part was the receptionist’s attitude when we tried to collect our belongings from the cloakroom after our ticket had been mistakenly cleared by staff. Rather than helping us resolve the situation politely, she was dismissive, sighed, scoffed and made rude remarks. Her attitude was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. For a restaurant with such premium pricing and reputation, the service was incredibly disappointing. What should have been an enjoyable birthday celebration turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. I would not recommend Sexy Fish Manchester. The service and staff attitude simply do not match the prices or expectations.

    It was our second visit, the first time was fab but this time was a let down . Checking in was chaotic, our server forgot to bring cutlery when asked so we had to share. We asked for ice with our water which didn’t come. Unfortunately the food was really average and the whole experience was an expensive let down. The soft shell crab was disappointing and the lamb was so overpowering with garlic we couldn’t eat it

    Great place, amazing food! Service was very slow to start, we did the bottomless brunch so ideally wanted to order drinks as seated, but waiting at least 15 minutes before a drinks order was taken. Food was amazing!

    Disappointing service, a 45-minute wait despite booking, being rushed off our table and charged for food we were told had been cancelled. Not the birthday experience I expected from a restaurant I used to love.

    Pre-paid for a dessert with a ‘happy birthday’ message, the dessert was never brought out. I had to ask a waiter which then ruined the surprise, and even then the dessert was brought 15 minutes later with no happy birthday message. I don’t think sexy fish should offer this pre-order service if they can’t execute it correctly. Service in general was slow and disappointing as I’ve had much better experiences at sexy fish.

    Visited four Japanese over 3 days. This was by far the best. Outstanding service, venue and atmosphere. Food was best Japanese we have had outside of Nobu in New York.
