My daughter and myself had a lovely afternoon There was a really nice Christmas atmosphere. The food was very well presented and plenty of choices.
However l was very disappointed that the hotel tried to charge me the higher rate for the afternoon tea despite the fact l told them when they phoned the day before when l made the booking it was advertised at the standard rate and that’s what I would be paying. I had to remind them again at the till. They said it was a mistake on the web page but l was very disappointed that they expected me to take the hit for their mistake .
Kick off your Christmas season with a visit to Lord Mayor's Lounge! A bit on the pricy side, but with unlimited coffee and tea and a delightful selection of Christmas-themed cupcakes and pastries you'll get what you pay for.
Very nice experience. The lounge is beautiful, the atmosphere was quite classy. There was live piano music and nice Christmas decorations. The food and teas were good but not exceptional, but we could get as many teas and sandwiches as we wanted so it was good value for money. The service was kind and attentive - though they might have forgotten to serve a tea at some point and needed to be reminded. In general we enjoyed it a lot. Excellent for a romantic date!
A great treat to finish our friends holiday. Wonderful ambience, great food and attentive service
Zoe our table attendant was excellent and was the perfect host. We were well informed and well looked after
Lovely treat to enjoy with family or friends. Staff make you feel very special
It was an excellent experience to have a cup of Tea in this lounge! The atmosphere was marvelous!
When I booked I had a price of € 52 per person.
When I was contacted on the Wednesday before my booking date I was informed it was Christmas menu and had increased by €10 per person.
I was taken aback but nothing I could do as it was a gift to my daughter who had just had her baby and was so looking forward to her special day with her new daughter.
I had this booked in early October so there was ample time to advise menu and price change.
Everyone should have afternoon tea in the The Lord Mayors Room at least once in their lives.
The piano should be backround music, far too loud for the space. The new seating, isnt as elegant as the previous seating.
Very attentive staff. Good food.
Afternoon tea at 3:00 with champagne to start. The Shelbourne is a lovely setting and it was festive with all its holiday decor. We enjoyed the ambience, the presentation, the food and tea.
excellent all round. will definately be back again. the pianist was also top class and a pleasure to listen to.
Very pleasant afternoon, nice setting but I would have preferred that the tea pot was left on the table rather than waiting for service staff to replenish the cup. In this regard, I felt that tea service was below standard. Staff were not forthcoming in offering alternative teas or ‘topping up’ as often as required, given that teacups are quite small. On a comparative basis, whilst we enjoyed the experience, the afternoon tea did not compare to that of Adare Manor hotel which was of a higher standard.
This was my first time having afternoon tea in The Shelbourne and it exceeded my expectations. There was plenty of time allowed and I didn't feel rushed at any stage. I thought the option to request additional sandwiches was very sensible, as it cuts down on waste but also permits you to order more, if you wish. The quality of the food offering was very good and service was impeccable. Will go back!
From the very warm greeting on arrival to the attention all through our time it was out-standing. Your staff are a credit to you. The food was amazing and we were delighted to be able to get the balance boxed up to bring home. Would highly recommend to anyone.
No explanation of the food we had at afternoon tea. Table beside us had all the food fully explained to them, felt that we missed out on this !
The ambience was relaxing. Good selection of food and drinks. Staff were very helpful and polite. Lovely treat and worth the extra.
We went for an afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday it was an amazing experience as always and will be back very soon..
I love the high class feel of this afternoon tea. I definitely would return to have an afternoon tea with different friends. the sandwiches were really good, so were the teas and opportunities to try many varieties. I was a bit disappointed by the dessert as felt they were too sweet which was an agreement at the table. Next time, I will be sure to sweeten my tooth a bit more :) Service was well-timed and friendly, and make one feel so special. A definite new experience to renew soon!
excellent from start to finish. I proposed to my now fiancé and everyone was so helpful with everything
beautiful table and dishes. Service was decent but not exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed all the food and atmosphere but felt it was extremely overpriced. IT was delicious but certainly not worth what we paid. Tea got cold rather quickly and we had to wait on server to refill our cups. I would have preferred a tea cozy or a tea pot at our table to refill. also more regular sandwiches and not so much sugar would have been better. We had a great time but will try other teas again next time.
The surrounding were sumptuous. The staff make you feel extremely welcome and make your visit really special. All the staff were super attentive. After we went to have a little look around and a mr kennedy took it upon himself to show us the Constitution Room which was partially laid out for and event. His gave us a run down of the history of the hotel and the recent renovation. It was very interesting and the icing on the cake to our afternoon. Will most certainly be back again.
Superb service, good and atmosphere. Really outstanding!
Amazing experience , food was divine and the list of teas were excellent. Service was outstanding thanks to Tomos and his ability to share so much information about the teas . Would highly recommend.
So worth the experience. It was a very memorable afternoon. Atmosphere, service and food all top notch!
It was an exceptional experience - staff & food excellent. Thank you all.
What a lovely, relaxing and special experience. We booked here for a treat and it definitely was.
Our servers Roisin and Jamie were fantastic. The staff overall are incredible and it added to an already wonderful afternoon tea.
Our friend has certain dietary requirements and staff couldn’t do enough to make our experience memorable as always, what a fantastic team your have in the Lord Mayor’s lounge. There was also a slight problem with one of our group earlier in the Horseshoe bar and the manager was fantastic too. Always a pleasure to visit the Shelbourne
We were a table of 5 enjoying the afternoon tea as a team outing. The tea selection, food and presentation was really good but what made it extremely special was the service we received from Khulan Munkhtuya. She made our team event extremely special with her knowledge and tea recommendations. She was an extremely kind, presentable and a professional host. Her passion for customer service, people and friendly nature was what made our evening! We all agreed we enjoyed the afternoon tea but Khulan is what made it first class and special to us!!
Lovely birthday treat and glass of champagne a great start - savouries delicious and scones and cakes all mouth watering - service was a little tired perhaps from doing it three servings a day?
Expensive but recommend
The food was absolutely delicious! We had a wonderful time.
The experience was luxurious and relaxing. The service was professional and extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
A lovely experience
I’d been looking forward to high tea at The Lord Mayor’s Lounge weeks before arriving in Dublin. I made the reservation for Saturday 11:30AM a week before. When I arrived, they seated me at a table where I had a great view of the entire room, which I think is better than a view of the windows, since the window are so high it’s difficult to see St. Stephen’s Green. When you have a view of the room, you can admire the chandeliers, the ceiling moulding, the paintings on the walls, and the other people enjoying high tea. I enjoyed listening to the pianist and teas; I was able to try 5 teas in 2 hours. As I was leaving, the staff brewed me a fresh pot of my favorite tea to go and gave me the treats I did not finish in a beautiful to-go box.
We enjoyed the total experience from the service to the food to the ambiance.
Attended the shelbourne for afternoon tea recently. Brought my mum as a surprise. The service, the food, the setting, were all fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I know I will definitely go again in the future.
A fantastic all round experience - from the excellent service provided by the staff, to the general surroundings of the Lord Mayor room and finally the live piano music
My daughter and I were en route to a book launch (Miscellany 50) in which I am published. It was a fitting pre-event celebration. Everything was delightful. The pianoman's selection of music perfect. The waiting staff made us feel like honoured guests. Loved every minute
Excellent afternoon for my girlfriends birthday thankyou very much
