The Lord Mayor's Lounge at The Shelbourne Hotel Ratings and Reviews
We received a voucher for afternoon tea as a Christmas present, it was a really special way to start our Christmas shopping trip in Dublin.I would especially like to comment on the amazing servers who were attentive and helpful but not intrusive, especially a young lady called Roisin who came over to say hello as she recognised me from her secondary
school. The athmosphere was friendly, festive and relaxed and even though it was at maximum capacity it never felt it. Such a lovely treat.
The overall atmosphere was most enjoyable but unfortunately the afternoon tea itself was a little disappointing. Very festive theme to the decorating of the deserts but the botttom section of sandwich selection there was no flavors from it. Very bland. My other two friends with me all agreed the afternoon was very disappointing.
It was a once of treat not to be repeated unfortunately.
I had booking changed to same time Friday which they didn't have in their system
We ended up eating in the saddle restaurant
I had to que for 23minutes to get a drink in the bar but the food was fantastic
It was quiet busy but the hotel seemed unable to handle the crowd and there was a lot of drunk people some falling around the place
Overall not a great experience for our first time in the shelbourne and it was for a special occasion
Wonderful quality of service, even brought a special plate of macarons for my mum's birthday. Really nice intimate atmosphere, the pianist was brilliant and the music was at the right level- it provided a nice ambience, but wasn't too loud to the point where you couldn't hear anything. I'll definitely recommend here for afternoon tea to my friends!
I enjoyed the experience overall, but there were a few things that took from my experience. The main one was how the food was served, lovely as the presentation was it cut you off from those you were sharing the table with, also I would prefer more saviour items on the menu.
We had a really lovely afternoon celebrating a birthday for our daughter - the food was excellent and beautifully presented - I particularly liked the very dainty scones - so much nicer than bigger ones. We like everything on our plates except the brioche with the egg mayo which was a tad dry. Other than that the rest was very tasty and extremely pretty to look at. Our tea was also delicious - we had the Whiskey Cream - very nice indeed with all the sweet treats. And the service was exemplary. I can't wait to go back!
Our experience of Afternoon Tea at the Shelbourne was outstanding. We were treated like royalty by the staff. As we were celebrating an 80th birthday we were given the best table in the house - just in front of the fire place which was perfect on a cold November afternoon. We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy afternoon tea in a relaxed atmosphere. We were welcomed by a lovely young man who looked after us and explained the different choices of teas that were available to try. Nothing was too much trouble for him and we got to try out several teas. The choice of food available was good and we got to take home some delicious patisseries . The gentle music of the piano in the background added to the ambience and I look forward to a return visit soon.
Afternoon tea at the Shelbourne is an experience to be enjoyed and revelled in. Not something I’d do often as it feels like more of a treat.
Extremely tasty food and beautifully crafted. Tea selection was exceptional and the service was perfect.
Personally I would have enjoyed more savoury bites as there is an awful lot of sweet treats. Most people, including ourselves took most of the cakes home.
The Shelbourne Hotel is always a delight to visit. The atmosphere is fabulous.
The afternoon tea at the Shelbourne was wonderful, we felt as though we were taken excellent care of and weren't in any way rushed (even though we were the last people there, some three hours after we arrived). The food was delicious (we all loved the Halloween menu) and the tea selection was huge and varied, we all tried several options. There was even a special Halloween-themed cocktail (it was incredible). For the level of service, the price was well worth it.
We had a lovely meal at Lord Mayor's Lounge after a busy first day in Dublin. We were seated in cozy chairs near the fireplace. We enjoyed the smoked salmon appetizer and cocktails were spot on. The wine list was decent with enough variety to keep everyone happy. The Cesar salad as an entree was huge and the steak my husband had was delicious. Service was very professional and attentive. It was difficult to pick a dessert as they all sounded divine. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and they sent a sweet surprise. It's always special to enjoy a quiet dinner in a historical hotel.
People make places and this is true of the staff in the restaurant. We had afternoon tea with an elderly relative who is unsteady on her feet. We arrived slightly early while they were still setting up. There were no seats left in the foyer, so the kind girl took us in and seated us anyway, even though they weren't really open yet . Service throughout was excellent, attentive and friendly. Food was lovely too. It was a trip down memory lane for my relative who used to socialise at the Shelbourne when she was a girl and fondly remembers dancing the night away in the 50's and 60's. Thank you to all the staff for looking out for us and making my lovely aunt feel so special.
I brought my big sister as a treat for her birthday. This was our first time and we both loved it. The staff were so kind and helpful . As we were seated we happened to say it was a treat for my sisters birthday to a lovely young lady and she later surprised my sister with a little cake and candles and had happy birthday played on the piano. Such a fabulous surprise. We will definitely be returning
The setting is beautiful and the staff are amazing, but the afternoon tea menu was disappointing. Very underwhelming, no value for money, and it was expensive as we went for the champagne option. I have been to the Lord Mayor's Lounge for the evening supper before and I would highly recommend that, but afternoon tea - no!
It is a wonderful way to experience a beautiful tradition done the traditional way. When in Dublin take the time to relax and enjoy the old world charm of the High Tea at a beautiful restored historic, iconic hotel.
The Lord Mayors lounge at the Shelbourne will take you back to more leisurely days gone by. Do not plan on rushing this experience.
I always have a wonderful experience dining here. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food is superb. I can never finish the treats so they put them in a take home box for me.
The pianist is pleasant to listen to and the tea is changed and refreshed as much as you like.
