Authentic Shanghai flavors right in NYC 🍚🇨🇳✨ @tipsyshanghai is bringing centuries-old recipes straight from China to the East Village — and it’s so worth the visit. The interior is beautifully decorated, cozy yet elegant — perfect for a dinner date or chill night out near NYU. We tried the WuXi pork ribs: slow-braised, super tender, and packed with rich Chinese spices. 🔥 The pickled cabbage fish was another standout — comforting, tangy, and full of flavor. They also have a wide variety of dim sum we haven’t tried yet… but you know we’ll be back for it. 🥢💯 Featuring ⤵️ Marinated Bran dough with peanuts & black fungus Smoked Carp Shanghai Style Wu Xi Pork Ribs Boiled Fish with Pickled Cabbage Osmanthus Sweet Lotus Root White Fungus Soup with Lotus seeds 📍104 2nd Ave, New York Follow @spinx17 for more NYC food recs!

Been to Tipsy Shanghai several times for lunch and always enjoy the food. The East Village location, Second Ave and Sixth Street is pretty with comfortable seating and not noisy.

Seated 15 minutes late which was fine given the holiday, but we made a point to tell them we had a show to get to and then just disappointed in lack of service. Overall extremely slow service and aloof staff. Had to continuously remind the staff that we were waiting on items. Staff never intentionally checked in on us. We had to ask for serving spoons, raid the chopsticks and side plate table ourselves, and ask for serve ware. Ordered a bottle of wine at the start and they didn’t bring that to us for nearly 30mins and only after we reminded them. Not that we’re divas, but this should have been chilled, as well. Clearly understaffed, but items came out only when asked. One person ate their meal completely before other items were brought to the table. The food was fine, but all patrons were frustrated the entire meal. Otherwise, if they staff up and pay attention to patrons, would probably be a decent place to go.

Restaurant way overbooked with reservations. We waited 30 min with 20 other people who also had reservations because all of the tables were taken. Ended up leaving and getting food somewhere else

Mediocre Shanghainese food with spotty service - the signature dish “Braised Lion’s Head” didn’t have enough fried dough in the mixture resulting in rock hard texture. The place is nicely decorated though.
