We had a lovely roast dinner at the Gonville Hotel. The beef was incredibly tender and came with a generous Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and vegetables. We started with garlic prawns and finished with a sensational pear, honey and almond tart with pistachio ice cream. The set lunch was good value for money and the complimentary glass of wine was a welcome bonus. A very enjoyable meal and somewhere we’d happily return to.

The service was great and this is one of the few places I’ve been there the staff have been very attentive, accommodating and didn’t simply drop the food off and forget about us. They insured we were taken very good care of through the entire experience. We enjoyed each entree and the drinks were great. Probably the best margarita I’ve had since coming to the UK as an American. Should definitely try it out and a bit thank you to Henrique, the other gentlemen, and the manager!

We ate in the conservatory as less formal, the menu is excellent with lots of choices, small plates also available which for me is a bonus ! Portions were a good size and great value for money too.

The food was very good and everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. The service was impeccable throughout. We happened to be the only guests in the restaurant at the time, so there wasn’t much of an atmosphere, but for us that actually worked perfectly. We were looking for a quiet late lunch/early dinner before heading out later, so the calm setting suited us very well. In terms of value, the prices were about what I would expect given the cost of eating out nowadays. Overall, we had a very enjoyable experience and would happily return.
