★★★★★ Exceptional oysters and outstanding service We had a fantastic dinner at the White Horse on Canongate. We started with a dozen oysters, a mix of Lindisfarne, Carlingford and Islay. Every one was fresh, cold and briny, and it was great to compare them side by side. The shrimp tempura was light and crisp, and the Hot Platter for Two was the star of the night: generous, beautifully cooked and worth every penny. The service was just as good. Aislinn and the team were warm and attentive, knew the menu well, and made us feel looked after all evening. If you're in Edinburgh and love seafood, don't miss it. We'd happily come back.

Food was exceptional. Full of flavour and perfectly balanced. A few wow moments.

From reservations to table service, knowledge about the dishes that our waiter had, a really good experience. From the starters, the crab and the mushroom arancini were the stars. Mains - two of us had the halibut and loved it. Two had the venison and enjoyed it, but both were envious of my duck. Highly recommended.

Stunning venue, charming and attentive service, food was delicious, tables well spaced so it felt intimate and uncrowded. Spectacular views over central Edinburgh. Was very impressed and will return when we have another special occasion to celebrate.

The people were literally the nicest I’ve ever met, don’t walk, RUN to grab a bite here. Highlight of our trip!!
