Best Restaurants with a Scenic View in Chinatown

We celebrated my dad’s 79th birthday and my mom’s 77th birthday, just three days apart, at Smith & Wollensky. We wanted to take them somewhere new, and the riverfront location—with valet parking and easy access—made it a perfect choice. My parents have lived on the South Side their whole lives, and my dad spent 28 years as a Chicago police officer there. He usually stayed away from downtown, so we were especially happy to find a place he really enjoyed. The wait staff was absolutely fantastic: welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything throughout the evening. And the food was stunning—every dish came out perfectly and tasted incredible. My mom was so excited that she dressed up and spent the night before reading reviews of the menu items. We all had a wonderful birthday dinner. Smith & Wollensky made the evening feel special from start to finish, and we can’t wait to come back. This place never disappoints!

Went for happy hour, and it was really great. We sat outside with the fire pits and it was just awesome.

Had a wonderful experience at Gibsons Italia! The food was delicious, and our waitress, Genevieve, was amazing. Her warmth and attentive service made the meal feel extra special by suggesting the two specials which were amazing. Great food is always a plus, but service like hers makes you want to come back. Outstanding experience in one of the best kept secrets in the loop. Service was top notch and the meal was perfectly prepared. Best part was our seat by the window looking at the Chicago skyline. My out of town guest was impressed and had an exceptional experience.
