Best Restaurants with a Scenic View in South Side

Jeffery was our server and he was great, and made our anniversary a special night. Food was great, came out timely, and the banana gelato with the Oreo crust was chefs kiss!

Our server Victor was amazing from the wine selection to preparing our plates for the table. He was a true gentleman. He deserves to be recognized for his service.

Lovely interior design with high-quality materials and comfortable seating. Excellent, well-presented food and good portion sizes. Very good drink program w/ some hard-to-find rare bourbons. Friendly staff. Nice river and city views. Really, the only thing I would change would be to eliminate the outrageous 'We add 3.5% to your check to cover rising costs' trick. The pandemic is over and inflation is not that high! If you are going to raise your prices, do so clearly; don't try to slip in an upcharge when the check gets run in hopes no one will notice it. (Yes, I know you can opt out, but most would not notice that in the menu fine print). Otherwise, excellent restaurant and bar!

We celebrated my dad’s 79th birthday and my mom’s 77th birthday, just three days apart, at Smith & Wollensky. We wanted to take them somewhere new, and the riverfront location—with valet parking and easy access—made it a perfect choice. My parents have lived on the South Side their whole lives, and my dad spent 28 years as a Chicago police officer there. He usually stayed away from downtown, so we were especially happy to find a place he really enjoyed. The wait staff was absolutely fantastic: welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything throughout the evening. And the food was stunning—every dish came out perfectly and tasted incredible. My mom was so excited that she dressed up and spent the night before reading reviews of the menu items. We all had a wonderful birthday dinner. Smith & Wollensky made the evening feel special from start to finish, and we can’t wait to come back. This place never disappoints!

Outstanding experience in one of the best kept secrets in the loop. Service was top notch and the meal was perfectly prepared. Best part was our seat by the window looking at the Chicago skyline. My out of town guest was impressed and had an exceptional experience.
