Head chef Sebby Holmes has guided Farang London to receive a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand for five consecutive years. The restaurant was also awarded a Thai SELECT award for excellence in quality and ingredients by the British Thai Embassy – and for good reason. Freshness and quality are top priorities at Farang, which uses ingredients sourced directly from Bangkok to recreate the unparalleled taste of traditional Thai dishes. Farang’s kitchen team balances flavours and intensity – a staple tenant of Thai cuisine. Popular menu items include the chicken satay and whole seabass, which has a deliciously crispy finish and is paired with samphire and a spicy coconut and blackberry sauce. Come with a group of friends and splurge on the shareable feasting menu for a colourful spread of standout dishes, and a memorable night out.

With both riverside views from the patio dining area and a theatrical open kitchen in the main dining room, your biggest problem at Kinkao will be deciding where to sit. Kick back on the terrace with a cold beer and gaze over the water, or snag a table in one of the best Thai restaurants in London and watch the chefs at work. The menu ranges from light and aromatic to knock-your-socks-off spicy, with hotter dishes highlighted so you can choose or avoid them depending on your preference. Perhaps begin with deep-fried whole soft-shell crab with fried garlic and chilli sauce, or Thai style dumplings filled with minced prawn and chicken. Add an order of tom kha soup with fragrant coconut and lemongrass, then try a red jungle curry with seasonal vegetables and your choice of protein. The fire pot whole seabass is a must-try for seafood lovers, served with a zesty dressing of the chef’s own creation.

Vibrant and modern surroundings with a rustic neighbourhood vibe make Phakoon Thai a favourite with locals and visitors alike. Drawing on classic Thai culinary influences, chef Joom brings over two decades of experience to the table to deliver an outstanding menu of authentic Thai cuisine. Order the mixed starters for a platter of chicken and prawn toast, vegetable spring rolls, steamed dumplings, chicken satay and fishcakes with sauces for the table, or chargrilled pork skewer with a spicy dip. Try the tangy, fragrant tom yum soup and then dive into the main event – perhaps the stir-fried drunken duck with a whisky and oyster sauce, or the tofu and cashews with a sweet and savoury sauce. Each dish is meticulously presented to look as stunning as it tastes, delivered to your table by a welcoming and knowledgeable server.

Kensington

Papaya Tree in Kensington is centrally located on the main high street and is a popular spot loved by locals. One of the best Thai restaurants in London, Papaya Tree has relaxed, contemporary decor and a cosy intimate atmosphere that makes it a perfect destination for catching up with friends. The menu draws inspiration from all over Thailand, giving diners a range of options – from spicy northern Thai salads to complex southern curries. Only the freshest ingredients make it onto the menu and the restaurant regularly ships in traditional Thai ingredients from Bangkok. A comforting bowl of hot and sour tom yum soup topped with chicken, prawns or mushrooms is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a warming lunch. The chilli papaya salad, meanwhile, is the restaurant’s signature dish and features a crunchy blend of shredded lettuce, papaya, peanuts and a lime dressing.

This is a nice authentic Thai restaurant in the lower floor, off a Main Street in South Kensington. We had the pad Thai and veggie rolls that were exceptional. The waitress was pleasant and unobtrusive.
