Sushi of Gari Upper West Side Location, as Gari Columbus. In 1997 Chef Masatoshi “Gari” Sugio opened the first Sushi of Gari and introduced New Yorkers to a new way to enjoy sushi. With the Gari style, no longer was soy sauce the only accompaniment, and in order to get guests to fully enjoy the fish chef added elements of surprise that came in the way of a sauce or other type of topping.

Make Hi-Life your Holiday Season and New Year's Eve headquarters!!
Hi-Life Bar & Grill is one of the Upper West side’s most popular and longstanding neighborhood restaurants (est. 1991). Hi-Life's 1930's décor is the backdrop for bar & grill classics like flame-grilled steaks and hamburgers, broiled and seared fresh fish specials, bountiful "Big Bowls" of pasta and entrée salads, and last but not least a Sushi/Raw bar. (Hi-Life was the first NYC restaurant to install a traditional sushi bar in a non-Japanese restaurant setting in 1993. Expertly prepared sushi & sashimi at Hi-Life is a natural extension of the classic Raw Bar one might expect in our 1930's environment.)
Hi-Life also serves a "traditional Westside" brunch that features fresh squeezed juices, complimentary blueberry muffins & cinnamon toast as well as a 5.95 brunch cocktail deal.
In the warmer months Hi-Life outdoor seating includes 26 seats along Amsterdam Ave and another 16 seats on our 83rd St side.

A Michelin-recommended Italian restaurant on the Upper West Side, Sempre Oggi is driven by the market — shaped by the season, the farms we trust, and what arrived that morning.
We believe there is beauty in simplicity: house-made pastas, a signature roast chicken, and a kitchen that lets great ingredients speak for themselves. The room feels like a Milanese apartment — casually elegant, stylish, and comfortable in its own skin.
The bar opens at 4 for aperitivi. The dining room opens at 4:30 for dinner. Brunch Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11. Ten minutes from Lincoln Center and directly across from the Beacon Theatre.

We had a lovely summer evening in the outdoor area of Florentin- great people watching and less loud, as the place was hopping. The service was friendly, accomodating and efficient. We decided to go for the shared plates, all of which were delicious and healthy - falafel, beets with Labneh, cauliflower with kale and rainbow carrots. Just right for three. Split two yummy desserts - tiramisu and chocolate cake. Reasonable prices.

Excellent meal (as always) and great service. At the outset, the Taboon bread with two dipping sauces was delicious. The “medium plate” cauliflower was a large portion with a wonderful flavor. The Moroccan Fish had an amazing sauce and many tender pieces of branzino. The malabi milk pudding with pistachios and coconut toppings was a great finish to the meal. Every course of the meal was exquisite (and large). Never a disappointment.

This place is super super dope! went here for my wife’s birthday dinner and honestly didnt know much about the spot other than the owner was on top chef. Walked in and immediately felt at home. The ambience is spanish harlem meets fine dining. Staff was attentive but not over the top. They all help and chip in to create a superb dining experience. Music was right up my alley. The food was incredible. Wifey and I got the family meal special (highly recommend). Cocktails were super tasty. Literally everything we ate and drank was electric. This is the type of place that I will be coming back multiple times again, wanting to share this jewel in the UWS with all the homies. I never write reviews but felt compelled to for P&K.

    Discover Upper West Side

Although it was home to Seinfeld and features other cultural cornerstones like the Lincoln Center, the “Upper Best Side” has long been passed over for other cooler neighborhood when it comes to the food scene. It’s no longer an afterthought, as some of the city’s most exciting new eaters have set up shop above 59th Street, creating more attention for the decades-old uptown institutions. Jewish fare like deli sandwiches and challah French toast are staples, but now you can also find the city’s best dan dan noodles. Grab a cheap Gotham hot dog, class it up with easy and reliable French, and save room for dessert at one of the countless cafes. Just remember to stay intellectually hungry—some of the city’s best museums are right nearby.
